Thats happening more than we think in our Militaries. Special Forces getting into Stuff they are more than capable to do but its a waste of Potential as those Jobs could have been done by normal or specialisied Infantry. CQC- They can do that. But why they should? You got Light Infantry Units for that. Long Range Surveillance? No Problem. But why not send Scouts who are even more trained in that Field of Operation. The Times were you needed to be a Jack of all Traits in the Military are gone. Everyone and everything is specialisied and can become an Expert in his/her specific Field.

I wasn’t thinking about the commandos, I was sure they were doing something important, but when I actually read the battle report years later, it was quite staggering how terribly unprepared we were for that battle.
If I knew about the problems we were going to face beforehand and I were in charge of the order of battle, those commandos would all be assigned to support, and the rest would deal with the large droid and arms factories and AA encampments. I would’ve make a collective effort to destroy the infrastructure and giant subterranean factories, although this is knowing what we know now, and my preferred method of orbital bombardment could possibly render the planet devastated for decades. • @nickh495
      @nickh495 3 года назад

Real special forces can handle large scale battles better than regular forces. So your statement doesn’t make sense. No I am not talking out of my as. I have a combat deployment with the second infantry division of the US Army. Also the term for those in specialized combat units is special operators or special operations known better as by civilians as spec ops. Special forces or the Green Beret is a specific group. Not a general term. For example. The US Army Rangers are special operations, however they are not special forces. The Navy Seals are special operations, but not US Army special forces. The reason for all of the different groups in the US special operations is due to having those who the best of the best at a specific task in extreme combat scenarios. There are times where calling upon the Navy Seals would be a bad idea. Not because they can’t handle a situation, however because another group would simply perform it much better. Yet even with this being said. Every member of the special operations community can generally perform much better in a regular combat capacity. The only reason why the commandos fails is just a lack of knowledge from the writers. However, if you want an in universe answer. Then I would say that if I wrote the reason as to why then it would be that the commandos were designed so extremely genetically to adapt to nothing but small team operations that they were almost incapable of adapting to the large scale invasion tactics. Otherwise none of that makes any sense.

The Jedi were probably one of the most combat experienced bodies of the republic. They had no army prior and hence no officers, maybe from some security forces, but they had little experience. Jedi were at least send out to planets in unrest and whatever, though they rarely intervened directly. They couldn't let the Clones command themselves obviously and senators would make even worse commanders for the most part. So the last option would be to recruit from planetary miliaries, what they probably did with admirals, but their loyality to the republic could be questionable, so they put the Jedi above them to keep them in check. It's pretty much the best they had.

Assuming canonicity of the Old Republic, the Jedi used to be a military force. Then the Ruusan reformations happened, and the jedi were forced to demilitarise - give up their armour, their militaristic ranks (jedi lord, etc), change their recruitment criteria, amongst other things. They became peacekeepers.
By the outbreak of the Clone Wars, the republic had been at peace for so long that they just didn't have a proper military (in both personnell and equipment) and the jedi were probably one of the few groups the republic can ask to lead their troops due to their militaristic past (never mind that the ruusan reformations declawed them) and their current experience as peacekeepers with weapons.

But they couldn’t fit into every single situation, it would be like trying to use a specialised medical scalpel in a sword fight, the medical scalpel would be brilliant at what it does in operations and delicate jobs, but it would be useless in a role of a machete. The commander in charge of the SWAT forces actually had a mental breakdown because he acknowledged his men were utilized correctly and the cost was his men's lives.

Sorry, but that seems frankly stupid on the part of the training. Better to train your forces so that any soldier, even a commando, can be absorbed like a drop of water into the whole at any given time. You then train Commandos to do more. It's probably why, as I understand it (I'm open to being wrong here), modern Rangers, SEALs, and other special forces are almost always pulled from active duty soldiers. You don't go to the recruiter and go straight into special forces training. You gotta be trained as a rank and file soldier first, prove yourself there, then apply or get tapped for it.

Ah yes, I remember the time the UNSC sided with the republic and gave the clone commandos MA5-B Assault Rifles, Battle Rifles, Magnums, and SPNK Rocket Launchers. Truly epic how the Sangheli sided with the CIS too because of their beliefs in the forunners.

learning the fine details regarding each type of clone’s training environment and how that affected their combat capability takes time. That’s incredibly evident in the real world with military vehicles and technology as well.
On paper the Jedi saw what was essentially a Halo Spartan but when you peel back the onion it’s something else. Simply put they didn’t have enough time to understand their troops compared to the droid army

Another thing to consider is the statistics of the matter. In a small sample size, there will always be heavier casualties. The more units, or the larger sample size, the closer you get to the actual rates. The reason we saw a statistical difference in rates of death is because of that larger sample size the norms had. If you had say 100k commandos, you would get probably lower rates of death than 100k norms.

Jedi incompetence strikes again! Wasting some of the republics most valuable troops in operations in standard clone grunt could do.
On a side note: 192,000? For a planet as massive and heavily populated as geonosis? It realistically should’ve taken an army tens of millions strong at minimum to win that battle.

I wouldn't say they were useless, they just needed to be used properly and they weren't used properly on Geonosis. They were just specialized in infiltration, espionage, rescues, and skirmishes. They needed to go behind enemy lines and take them down from the inside out. Kinda like how Delta Squad were used in the battle of Geonosis.

  • @Zero-Dux

No matter how elite you are you wouldn't have done jack shit in geonosis where everyone was fighting like it's the 17th century. Like dafuq are you suppose to do when the battle is about fighting each other without a cover in a frikking gunfight.

Is there a video of how effective jedi were in combat or open battle fields? I struggle to see how jedi were effective in open combat with just a lightsaber. They clearly lack range attack when almost everyone else has a blaster. In the animated star wars series. You see top tier jedi reflecting lasers and maybe they close the distance on a ship or a cave.

Yeah genosis was a suicide mission infantry should’ve came through first although it doesn’t mean that commandos couldn’t adapt & alter the training program afterwards if worst comes to worst they gotta work with reg infantry I blame palp I mean he didn’t want either side to get more of advantage over the other until he groomed Anakin enough to have much conflict & make the jedi turn against their dogma of being peacekeepers displaying hypocrisy to cut off maces hand which note he didn’t kill him only making a point striking down an unarmed enemy even if he has force lighting like Dooku which is why Anakin realized it was wrong.
