I think it makes more sense to separate Legends Clone Wars content and Filoni Clone Wars canon. The latter has all ARC troopers be normal clones given special training and promotion and in Disney Canon they are the only ARCs there are. The former had them as specially genetically engineered and trained (Nulls and Alphas). The idea that Alpha-17’s training program produced the ARCs we see in TCW was a retcon/excuse as originally he specifically only trained commanders (like Cody). There were no normal clones trained to be ARCs in the original CWMP though there was a normal clone (only 1 as far as I remember) trained to be commandos instead in the RC novels. So it’s more like: Legends: 1. Null ARCs 2. Alpha ARCs 3. Commandos Disney Canon: 1. Commandos 2. ARCs IMO trying to combine them is possible but a bit jarring. Why Clone Commandos and ARC Troopers never wen- *Commandos added to EA SWBFII to fight alongside ARC Trooper class* Why Clone Commandos and ARC Troopers were so effective together in combat.
We all love each other very much, and I’m sure the ARC Troopers still love their Clone Commando brothers. They just can’t get along, and it’s not healthy for them to hang around each other. It’s bound to happen, really.
The Commenter no, I love that armour, it looks bad ass and sometimes they’re customised based on their unit as a whole and what they specialise in, in that unit which is very cool
Commando: "okay, guys, we're gonna go behind enemy lines, proceed to the objective, and get to the LZ before enemy reinforcements arrive and --" ARC: *"kill everything lol"*
I have a feeling that it's a similar reason that most ODSTs from Halo disliked Spartans (prior to the Spartan-IV Program) as they most likely saw each other as rivals. Also I dislike how Canon/TCW messed with the ARC Troopers by turning them into a group standard Clones could be "promoted" to.
Jedi Spartan 38 my head canon is that Clones who proved themselves were promoted into ARC Trooper status in order to replace the ones that died, but I know what you mean. I totally agree that they’ve been watered down.
Regular clones be promoted to ARC troops was a thing before the clone wars. ARC troops where genetically the same as regular troops null's where different geneticaly but alpha class where special due to jango's training. Alpha 17 even trained clone commanders to have ARC trooper levels of independence. That being said standard clones being promoted to commandos was rare but not unheard of such as trooper Cor promotion to omaga squad after FI's "death".
ODSTs disliked Spartans because they saw them as barely even human, needing augmentations to even be considered better than them. Thats why ODSTs disliked spartans.
@@enigma3383 you must have gotten that from how the marine coronal spoke down to MCPO John-117 in the book "The Flood" though I think most marine officers just hated being one upped by Spartans-II of the navy and could order around the S3 as they were more Army command.
Because they were extremely miss used by jedi generals like on geonosis a shit load was killed why ? Cuz mace used them as front line shock troops in stead of dropping behind enemy lines like in the republic commando game and books
I'll always deeply respect the ARCs, but the Commandos are above all else in my eyes. Just look at Republic Commando for instance: Four clones ALONE can take care of basically legions of enemies (not just droids) with no backup. No other kind of Clone have I ever heard about that can do that.
@@iamblight707 considering the operations they underwent and their equipment, they were most like clone commandos. They had the same katarn class armor and uncertook covert missions.
@@maybeiamepic2263 Except they weren't that covert. First mission we see them, and every subsequent mission is them blowing the place to shreds. The only time they started using covert operations is during their mercenary work, and they're terrible at that compared to their ability to wreck things, which is what ARC troopers (not officer arcs) do.
one thing i find fascinating about arc troopers is how important and secretive their skill was but their armor was just clone armor with a pauldron way finder and skirt which means they put that much faith of clone armor even in the super secret special forces
Republic Commando was such a great game. Was really cool to see the clones PoV (not that common when it was released), what elite clones were like, why super battle droids were called "super", how deadly Magnaguards actually were, and how on the mission Grevious was introduced, he actually felt like a high-profile character instead of some generic bad guy.
The exotic minerals that make up the Katarn armor generate a natural force field. Kind of like how certain minerals give off strong magnetic properties on Earth.
Jedi: There are enemies in the distance! Clones: We'll protect you until the very end! Commandos: We'll cut them off before they reach us. ARCs: **Distant sound of explosions and blaster fire**
You forget that in Star Wars the Clone Wars ARC trooper Jesse joined Rex and Cody in their recon mission with the Bad Batch, who are in fact a commando unit. And to those who think that those episodes only came out in 2020, the animatics for those episodes existed for several years before then and were definitely canon.
Yeah that was a good arc but those weren't real commandos and arcs, at least not legends ARCs and commandos. Commandos were trained mainly mandalorians, and Alpha ARCs were trained by Jango and Null ARCs were trained by Kal Skirata
I'm sure it was planned to be commandos originally but they didn't have the time to make it... Though I argue you could just get something from the republic commando game and just polish it
yea but since the datamined found republic commandos hopefully its just a stand in and in the future, we get commandos as infiltrators while arc troopers replace the wookies as enforcers
Well, the Clone Commandoes usually have to sneak in covertly, without being seen. They try to avoid enemy contact. ARC's usually shoot their way in and out.
delta 4684 well that’s true but as a whole a company of arcs would beat a company of commandos in an all out fight thanks to the arcs being more oriented to direct combat, it all depends about what type of fight what you like do you prefer stealth or direct combat?
CC's and ARC's worked together during the Gaftikar campaign and the Coruscant Black Ops campaign. Omega and Delta Squad also displayed the ability to easily coordinate with the ARC's and fight alongside them. Ion Team never defected, they believed that Order 66 was a CIS ruse, when they helped their Jedi commanders escape they did not kill any of the rank and file clones. Two of the squad were killed and Climber and Trace were captured and sent to an Imperial prison on Agon Nine.
@Saima Riaz Bro don't worry here I was just referring to their age. Commandos were of the later Generations, while the Nulls were the Prototypes. So my comment is factually right. Still I think the Commandos are badass
I can't help but love the ARCs so much more, ever since I read the "Republic" comic line and fell in love with Alpha-17. "They grow up to serve the Republic, or they don't grow up at all"
It seems like The Citadel mission early on in the Clone Wars fits the commando's profile better than Echo and Fives. So why didn't we see commandos in those episodes?
it likely had to do with the mission retrieving a master Jedi, as the council would have insisted that a fellow Jedi would be involved in the retrieval effort and after the disaster with the Commandos on geonosis, whoever organizes these missions would likely have kept the Commandos and Jedi on separate missions if possible. Meanwhile the ARC's were commonly used in tandem with Jedi, and Echo and Fives having worked closely with Anakin on multiple occasions made them a perfect fit for the job.
Id love a story or clone wars episode with them working together and with their differences. I think the ARCs are the best soldiers ever made the null class.
Both are badasses it's just both of them are different in terms of being in the battlefield of mission objective. If you look at some of the other comments, you see the same comparison to the US Army more specifically. ARC Troopers: Army Rangers Clone Commandos: Special Forces (Green Berets) One takes action in brute force along with taking the position of leadership, while the other is behind enemy lines along with having the quality of ingenunity to the squad to adapt to multiple situations
Commandos are cooler imo. They aren’t as far fetched as arcs which are frankly canon breaking OP. Like super Mandalorians. Essentially, the idea of the commandos is somewhat believable while the arcs were something a kid thought up. The best characters are brave in the face of uncertain odds and are just as susceptible as everyone else yet their character, skills, and training see them through.
I always saw the ARC troopers as glass cannon types. though, plenty of them also had the benefit of plot armor. the Commandos definitely felt very equivelent to spartans to. since republic commando came out 4 years after the first halo, and a year after the second halo. as far as I know, the way the Commandos are depicted in Republic Commando explored before, and they came off very closely to being Star Wars spartans.
One of the best ways I've seen it put: Commandos were a powerful and exact tool. If you needed an objective behind enemy lines taken out and done right with minimal extra damage you sent them in. "The explosives didn't work so we hacked into the main terminal and rerouted power to overload the generator taking out the factory with minimal increased damage." ARCs were a powerful but inexact/unwieldy tool: tell an ARC to win a battle and they might just return with the heads of the enemy general's children. "It'll make them stop fighting. We win."
Basically the difference is that one is raised and trained to be a Mandalorian while the other is still raised as a clone, albeit the SEAL version of one. ARC's are warriors, Commandos are soldiers.
Id say as a tactical commander the arc troopers are better but as overall fighters it has to be the commandos, arc troopers don't stand a chance against commandos in my opinion
if ur talking about a one on one vs one arc and one commando the arc would win every time but if its one arc vs one commando squad itd be a more even fight
Commandos preform better as squads rather then soloists. An arc would beat a commando in a one on one. An example of this is when the kaminoins wanted to terminate the 6 null arcs. In which tge nulls held out in a room against **SQUADS** of commandos attacking them
ARCs and Commandos are kind of like Spartans and ODST from Halo, ARCs and ODSTs are special forces while Spartans and Commandos are pretty much super soldiers.
Maybe a squad of null class would crush the commandos 4 man armys in my opinion would crush the commandos. But if its not null then yea a commando squad would win.
The commandos would basically be comparable to the CIAs SAD (special activities division) which recruits the best operators in the military. ARCs would be similar to green berets, SEALs and SAS.
The difference between Commandos and ARC Troopers is like the difference between Green Berets and Rangers. Green Berets/Commandos - For when you want a nice clean op Rangers/ARC Troopers - For when you don't care about collateral damage
What about kal skiratas null arcs? Are they better than the alpha arcs? From the Republic commando books the null arcs seemed to get along with omega sauad
Its weird because Fives wasnt specifically bred to be an Arc Trooper but when he got promoted, and even before, his character already had the Jango fire and individuality in him
Awesome video... Could you do something about ARF? I never knew them that much and I would love to learn more about them because I think they look awesome.
That's a tricky question. ARCs are badasses with dual pistols, but commandos are almost the Star Wars equivalent of Spartans from Halo. Actually, I think I'd go with being a commando.
Commando’s DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System is 3 Weapons 1 Ion Blaster Rifle, Sniper Rifle & Anti-Armor RPG launcher. It’s 1 Man Army Weapon. UNDENIABLE the Best Weapon Ever.
There both elite factions of reliable soldiers of the Republic that's true but both factions have different jobs and missions and orders they are given and must carry out
I think that commandos are better at what they do than arc’s but I also believe arcs are better at what they do than the commandos. My favorite arcs are the null arcs though they were literally one man army’s and damn near unstoppable when they were together not to mention deadly loyal to anyone they trusted. The clone commando novels really help give you almost a personal connection with these men which helps make the books so damn good
I do like the novels (got them all including Imperial Commando) but I find Traviss’ preaching... a tad excessive and annoying. But when there’s action, it’s pretty good.
The part about ARCs not caring about civilian casualties and them not caring about brotherhood is actually the Null ARCs while the Alphas did care about these things

So it’s more like:
Legends:
1. Null ARCs
2. Alpha ARCs
3. Commandos
Disney Canon:
1. Commandos
2. ARCs
IMO trying to combine them is possible but a bit jarring. Not to mention TCW series retcons away the RC novels anyway and is the reason Karen Traviss left Star Wars. The Mandalorian roots of Jango and the clones were important in those books and they’re non-existent in the show.
Nathan white I don’t think echo is on the level of delta squad because his dumbass got the ship blown up on the citadel but I fives is better than any commando ever IMO
Why Clone Commandos and ARC Troopers never wen-
*Commandos added to EA SWBFII to fight alongside ARC Trooper class*
Why Clone Commandos and ARC Troopers were so effective together in combat.
True Sons Of Mandalore it’s gonna happen next month man
Clone Commando: “We’re supposed to be a unit”
Ark Trooper: “Suck my unit”
We all love each other very much, and I’m sure the ARC Troopers still love their Clone Commando brothers. They just can’t get along, and it’s not healthy for them to hang around each other. It’s bound to happen, really.
Bros but separated
“It would be wrong to say they disliked each other”
Thumbnail:Am I a joke to you?!
Am i the only one that thinks Commando Armor is literally the best looking armor in star wars?
The Commenter no, I love that armour, it looks bad ass and sometimes they’re customised based on their unit as a whole and what they specialise in, in that unit which is very cool
My favorite is the phase one
Galactic marines have the best in my opinion. Partially because I like the semi skirts (kammas) and the red just set them apart
For me, I’d say it’s a tie between the Old Republic trooper armor and clone commandos. Clone commandos just look so intimidating
I reckon the republic paratrooper, old republic trooper, and kashyyk scout trooper are the best
Commando: "okay, guys, we're gonna go behind enemy lines, proceed to the objective, and get to the LZ before enemy reinforcements arrive and --"
ARC: *"kill everything lol"*
The RC game vs the Clone wars series in a nutshell
Spartan-IV Program sucks ass.
Can we get an F for our fallen brother and ARC trooper Fives?

I like the ARC Troopers a lot, but I love the Clone Commandos more
Sorry😅
They die to much.
Because they were extremely miss used by jedi generals like on geonosis a shit load was killed why ? Cuz mace used them as front line shock troops in stead of dropping behind enemy lines like in the republic commando game and books
@@delta3852 You Copy
Also hello there
@@therookie4322 Hello General Grievous, You May Never Take My Knife.
I'll always deeply respect the ARCs, but the Commandos are above all else in my eyes. Just look at Republic Commando for instance: Four clones ALONE can take care of basically legions of enemies (not just droids) with no backup. No other kind of Clone have I ever heard about that can do that.
What is clone force 99, a prototype arc commando squad?
@@iamblight707 considering the operations they underwent and their equipment, they were most like clone commandos. They had the same katarn class armor and uncertook covert missions.
@@maybeiamepic2263 Except they weren't that covert. First mission we see them, and every subsequent mission is them blowing the place to shreds. The only time they started using covert operations is during their mercenary work, and they're terrible at that compared to their ability to wreck things, which is what ARC troopers (not officer arcs) do.
@@iamblight707 that’s…a good point I agree with you
one thing i find fascinating about arc troopers is how important and secretive their skill was but their armor was just clone armor with a pauldron way finder and skirt which means they put that much faith of clone armor even in the super secret special forces
Commandos never die... They are only M.I.A
Sure
That’s Spartans my dude, wrong universe
Too soon
@@Discount_Jesus shhh it isn't
*flashbacks from the day we had to leave Sev behind*
great, this is going to be my day now...
I just believe commandos are better equipped. Their armor is already tough and they have shield generators. Like they shouldn’t have died so easily.
its not shields its like plasma displacers or something like that i forgot what they called them
Brayden Geis so a shield
10.000 Subs With No Videos not a shield...
The exotic minerals that make up the Katarn armor generate a natural force field. Kind of like how certain minerals give off strong magnetic properties on Earth.
Fordo vs Boss who would win?
Kinda funny how Arcs the the infiltrator class in Battlefront. Nice vid!
@@reefy888 I would love that
Well, the Clone Commandoes usually have to sneak in covertly, without being seen. They try to avoid enemy contact.
ARC's usually shoot their way in and out.
YerrowNeenja I’d rather have it the other way around, with CCs replacing the Wookiees
Id rather be a commando lets be honest eh sev?
Sev is..... Uhhh dead
@Doofus 9 that was never confirmed I believe... He was MIA presumed KIA...
Yeah well I believe grievous took a quick stop to kashyyk
Arcs are more combat effective sooo
delta 4684 well that’s true but as a whole a company of arcs would beat a company of commandos in an all out fight thanks to the arcs being more oriented to direct combat, it all depends about what type of fight what you like do you prefer stealth or direct combat?
Cody/Gregor
Yes, Cody may not actually be considered an ARC Trooper, but he received the training.
There is something the ARC casuls will never have compared to the Commando Chads...
Vode An
Commando Chads lol
Casuals???
Ever heard of the Null or Alpha ARCs? They were already out there training while Commandos were still "babies"
@Saima Riaz Bro don't worry here I was just referring to their age. Commandos were of the later Generations, while the Nulls were the Prototypes. So my comment is factually right. Still I think the Commandos are badass
yes, vode an and the clones song from ash
I love how in battlefront 2 the arc trooper is an infiltrator while the clone commando is an enforcer, which is the complete opposite of those clones
Because they be TOO BADASS to put up with each other's badassery 😂
Because Filoni wanted to use his characters, Fives, Echo, and Rex, instead of bringing in Delta Squad.
The funny thing is that in EAs battlefront 2 clone commandos are enforcers and ARCs are Infiltrators when it’s the other way around
As a Battlefront 2 player, I can confirm these descriptions are how Commandos and Arc Troopers work best
Id love a story or clone wars episode with them working together and with their differences. I think the ARCs are the best soldiers ever made the null class.
I'm on season 6 of TCW and I've only ever seen one episode that had a clone commando and their armour looks sick
It's like this
Clone Commando: special forces
ARC troopers: "the one they fear"
Captain Rex was a third generation ark trooper, that was trained by one of the 100 second generation of ark troopers who were trained by Jango Fett
Commando. Their teamwork is amazing, and also bacta processing implants.
You could think of the clone commandos as a scalpel whereas the arc troopers are an axe
Honestly, I think it would be terrifying to face an ARC trooper with Commando gear. Just imagine that a moment.
That's just a human tank
ARC troopers: Fantasy Badass
Clone Commandos: Actual Badasses
Both are badasses it's just both of them are different in terms of being in the battlefield of mission objective. If you look at some of the other comments, you see the same comparison to the US Army more specifically.
ARC Troopers: Army Rangers
Clone Commandos: Special Forces (Green Berets)
One takes action in brute force along with taking the position of leadership, while the other is behind enemy lines along with having the quality of ingenunity to the squad to adapt to multiple situations
Bad Batch, Arc Troopers, Commandos. The clone wars have so much good stuff.
I really like these vids they don’t milk adds for money super informational and are just nice to watch wen I’m bored or other wise
Hum fordo is kind of odd for an arc then by the sound of it. After all he had respect for the fallen and the men standing next to him
JoshMC2000 well I guess that’s why we have Rex because Rex acts like Frodo and he was based off him
I love them both but can we just all agree that the Clone Commandoes are the best group of soldiers in the GAR
Best Group, Yes, But not best soldiers
One of the best ways I've seen it put:
Commandos were a powerful and exact tool. If you needed an objective behind enemy lines taken out and done right with minimal extra damage you sent them in. "The explosives didn't work so we hacked into the main terminal and rerouted power to overload the generator taking out the factory with minimal increased damage."
ARCs were a powerful but inexact/unwieldy tool: tell an ARC to win a battle and they might just return with the heads of the enemy general's children. "It'll make them stop fighting. We win."
The commandos are heavy tactical infiltration troops, the ARC self-taught commanders of the combat front.
Basically the difference is that one is raised and trained to be a Mandalorian while the other is still raised as a clone, albeit the SEAL version of one. ARC's are warriors, Commandos are soldiers.
Yes and no. SEAL’s are operators. They don’t have any combat training. They’d be more like Green Berets or DELTA
@@ArielKahane actually I see Clone Commandos as more like Delta Force or Seal Team 6
Id say as a tactical commander the arc troopers are better but as overall fighters it has to be the commandos, arc troopers don't stand a chance against commandos in my opinion
Should check out null arcs then
if ur talking about a one on one vs one arc and one commando the arc would win every time but if its one arc vs one commando squad itd be a more even fight
Commandos preform better as squads rather then soloists. An arc would beat a commando in a one on one. An example of this is when the kaminoins wanted to terminate the 6 null arcs. In which tge nulls held out in a room against **SQUADS** of commandos attacking them
@@redacted9529 wait when did that happen I don't remember that
@@Justalilcyn in legends, the commandos were finally stopped from being sent to fight the nulls when cal skirata persuaded the kaminoins to stop.
Commando because they can be revived :)
Well, Fi was helped along by a jedi and stolen medical equipment

Me: "KOTEEEEEEEEE"
I’m really glad people like you exist. Take your time and know your shit, or at least try to know as much as you can and make videos. Love it
I like how you said that Clone Commandos get normal training but on steroids😂
Geetsly: "It would be misleading to say they disliked each other."
Also Geetsly: "Why they DISLIKED and DISAGREED with each other"
ARC Troopers are awesome, and they are the best ones. No one can tell me otherwise.
Commandos be out there playing Metal Gear, while the ARC Troopers play DOOM
clone commandos: ok time to sneak around and sabotage their supplies
ARC troopers: *proceeds to commit droid genocide behind enemy lines*
And that's how the average clone trooper got at least a 1-50 kill count! :D
ARCs and Commandos are kind of like Spartans and ODST from Halo, ARCs and ODSTs are special forces while Spartans and Commandos are pretty much super soldiers.
Fives and echo weren’t bread as arch’s they were promoted
Yes
"Weren't bread" HAHAHAHA
@@helikos1 Technically correct. The best kind of correct.
@@Thalanox Haha I suppose you're right XD
1v1 - ARC trooper wins
Squad v Squad - Commandos win
Maybe a squad of null class would crush the commandos 4 man armys in my opinion would crush the commandos. But if its not null then yea a commando squad would win.
Gregor vs 100+ battle droids, gregor wins
So essentially
Clone Commandos = Special Forces
And
ARC Troopers = Ranger Bat
ARC trooper for sure. Me and my friend used to draw out what our trooper would look like
In the first 2 minutes I learnt that battlefront II has the ARCs and Commandos the wrong way around
'Halo Roleplay'
EckhartsLadder: *heavy breathing*
The commandos would basically be comparable to the CIAs SAD (special activities division) which recruits the best operators in the military. ARCs would be similar to green berets, SEALs and SAS.
i always felt a better comparison was that ARCs were army rangers and commandos were green berets
ARC: Green beret
Commandos: delta force
ShadowGamer cia sad isn’t really direct action man.
I think ARCs are basically Army Rangers, and C lone Commandos are the Green Berets.
The difference between Commandos and ARC Troopers is like the difference between Green Berets and Rangers.
Green Berets/Commandos - For when you want a nice clean op
Rangers/ARC Troopers - For when you don't care about collateral damage
And then, of course, we have the Nulls which were like the alpha's only significantly better in literally every area.
Karyn Traviss' version of clones in Clone Wars was awesome and wish the series continued
0:45 that's an imperial logo...
Spyder Rain I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed that! It was bugging me
Arcs are a chainsaw, commandos are a scalpel
Ok, I think I have the best analogy - the ARC's are the hammer and the Commandos are the scalpel.
What if there was a type of clone trooper that was a hybrid of Clone Commandos and ARC Troopers?
Yes
Arc commandos 👌
xFEAREDx that doesn’t work, advanced recon commandos commandos
@@georgerodger2104 they're just that good theyre double commando
@@georgerodger2104 Yeah, they would need a new name. Perhaps "Advanced Commandos" or something like that, but much cooler.
What about kal skiratas null arcs? Are they better than the alpha arcs? From the Republic commando books the null arcs seemed to get along with omega sauad
Jordie Cairns the second book where they worked together to take out a Separatist cell
I feel the commandos are more qualified to get any job done... any job.
But let's cut to the chase and agree to disagree.
Right on! Commandos forever!
Its weird because Fives wasnt specifically bred to be an Arc Trooper but when he got promoted, and even before, his character already had the Jango fire and individuality in him
Ironic that the bad batch were basically Republic commandos and echo join their ranks he was a former arc trooper
I think they're both cool.
Jesse Isbell Not quite. That SPARTAN esque distinction I would say belongs to the Null ARCs
The Commandos had different voices somehow. How did that happen? I'll never get over Kaidan Alenko/Carth Onasi being on Delta Squad.
Commando’s DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System is 3 Weapons 1 Ion Blaster Rifle, Sniper Rifle & Anti-Armor RPG launcher. It’s 1 Man Army Weapon. UNDENIABLE the Best Weapon Ever.
Basically Commandos=Green Berets, and ARC troopers=Ranger Batt
True.
I was literally just listening to the Clone Commando theme
I believe with the normal ARC's they're a bit different, Cause it seems you are mainly talking about the alpha ARC's
There both elite factions of reliable soldiers of the Republic that's true but both factions have different jobs and missions and orders they are given and must carry out
Well, in the new canon Rex is considered an "Arc Trooper" and one of his best friends for 20 years was Gregor, a Clone Commando, so...
In Battlefront II the Commando and Arc Trooper can hold off a lot of enemies together.
Yeah I know there’s people that don’t care for Traviss but I really liked what she did and wish she could of written many more of these novels
“Commando’s were infiltrators”
EXACTLY EA GET IT RIGHT
Fuck EA
Clone commandos: Space Navy Seals
ARC Clone: Spartan IVs
More like DELTA or Green Berets. Commandos have better training than SEAL’s
The part about ARCs not caring about civilian casualties and them not caring about brotherhood is actually the Null ARCs while the Alphas did care about these things
Basically Commandos are Navy Seals and Arc Troopers are Green Berets
