“My father sends his regards.” An enormous turning point. Jonathan will always be his dad, but for the first time, he has acknowledged that Jor-El is his father, and by nature of that, his kryptonian heritage.

You know what was for me this show biggest's sucess? The fact that although it lasted for 10 Seasons and it unavoidably did enough mistakes here and there, people look at it with more effection than the Arrowverse like Flash in ourdays. It could have been so easily go downhill from Season 8 or even 7. But no! It actually managed to hold the reigns untill the finishing line!

That was Clark's standard uniform, off and on, for the show's first seven years. He occasionally switched it to a blue jacket and red shirt, especially when playing Bizarro. The first season mostly kept him in plaid or a farm jacket, but the color patterns were still used a lot.

  • @1080lights
    @1080lights 9 лет назад +72

I don't know why people who watch the show don't get this, but Clark can't fly because he has a psychological block preventing him. He fundamentally believes that his human side is his good side that keeps him grounded and that his Kryptonian side is something to be feared. He always wants to be human, even if the desire isn't always conscious. When he finally accepts that he's not capable of being human and that it's not necessarily a bad thing, he flies.
Maybe I'm just making excuses for Smallville. It was kind of a stupid show with low-budget effects and nonsensical plotlines. But one thing it did better than any other iteration of Superman is the relationship between Clark and Lex, who was the best character on the show.

    • @19EHF

There was a copyright issue. They didn’t get permission to feature him flying until the last episode, because the character owners didn’t give them permission to do so. They weren’t able to include Batman character into series for the same reason.

    • @sbashkatova

But also Tom Welling did not want to be Superman on Smallville because he signed up to play young CK, so he asked for a plotline with him flying to be removed from the early seasons in accordance with his contract where it was promised that he wouldn’t be flying in tights. At least that is the story 20 yrs later as shared by Tom to Michael in one of the podcasts.

good. The shows do have a budget. If you own the DVD's they will explain
reasons they had for doing things. It is always about the money the networks
will allow them. It is amazing what they go through just to get this show to be

"My father sends his regards" -- classic !
Great the way they use the 'kneel before Zod' from the original 1970's Superman movies and the image of the phantom is somewhat like that of Terrence Stamp's Zod (he was the voice of Jor-El in SMALLVILLE). Lots of symetries !

I love how powerful and aggressive ZodLex is here. When he flies straight into him in the mansion and once they hit the ground outside he does everything at superspeed with nothing held back - you can feel a power difference between them straight away.
Although what also bugged me was they show Clarks abilities getting stronger over time - hes's had years of yellow sun exposure and to get used to controlling those powers. Didn't li,e the fact Zod mastered them immedistly (especially when its likely the first time he's ever explerienced them). The same thing bugged me with the Kryptonians in man of steel.

The Last Airbender is a perfect example. Alsp, Supernatural is a low budget show, yet everyone loves it. I even love it.

The "new Zod" is a younger clone that was released at the end of last season. He isn't the real one. The real (General) Zod is the one that Clark just defeated in this clip.

Smallville was awesome. It's my favorite tv show of all time. It wasn't at the top of the ratings rankings, But i thought it deserved to be no. 1. What other tv show do they have special effects as good as a major motion picture? And they sure didn't have the budget of those huge movies.

They showed the power of superman. SMALLVILLE WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST!!! IM said season 10 was the last 1:(((
