Besides, it kind of works as a "punishment" for the player for expecting to be rewarded with a better ending after enduring the pain that is getting every weapon just to unlock it.

The way drakengards ending slowly shift from Dark fantasy to full on Cosmic horror is amazing and one of a kind Its no wonder people love the DrakeNier series and lore so much

I have not played Drakengard since it came out a long time ago and I did not know Yoko Taro created and directed this game as well. I played Nier Automata demo 4 years ago but never bought the game until April 2021 and have not stopped playing this game NieR Automata 95% completion and Replicant I just started. Great job you will love and totally enjoy playing NieR Automata/Replicant

I've been wanting a remaster, too. Though, I'm a tad worried that a remaster of it might strip it of its fever dream qualities. If there's a remaster, it must have the same soundtrack, at the very least. But cosmic horror like this is perfectly captured on the PS2.

@@AsadKhan-ic9qi this is old, but I wanted to reply just in case, to clarify some things: Lore suggests that there was something funky going on behind scenes, as the JP government themselves didn't greenlit the aerial attack, they were still monitoring things and were just as confused as everyone else when the dragon and the crazy ahh dude got blasted out of the sky. As of now when I'm writing this, from what I'm aware, absolutely nobody knows wtf happened with all that. Like the government would've probs also tried to just destroy them and be done with just in case, but before they could discuss what to do, they were already blasted from the sky. Spoilers for all NieR related things in general ahead!!!!!!: It seems to be implied that there was some type of sabotage going on, done by someone or something. It wouldn't be the last/first time, as the actual reason Project Gestalt failed didn't have anything to do with what happened in the games, nor did it have to do with the main characters nor Devola and Popola. It was revealed (in Automata I think, iirc????) that even if the Shadowlord/Gestalt NieR did what he had to do and completed Project Gestalt, it would've failed anyway, bc gestalts couldn't assimilate properly to replicants due to the latter already having acquired personalities of their own, both parts just reject each other and end up accelerating their destruction. The moment replicants awoke from their slumber and gained conscience without their gestalts within them was the moment project Gestalt, and therefore, humanity (at least, as we know it) was doomed. Replicants were never meant to wake up by themselves, they did so bc someone knew that fully and had sabotaged the system back when the project started and humanity hadn't completely died out. It's not clear why they did so, maybe they were a Red Eye, maybe they were Feeling a Lil' Silly™, who knows. There's lots of sabotage going on in DrakeNier that ends up being the cause of countless grief....
Considering you got giant doll smashed entire district of tokyo, you likely consider everything that came from portal hostile. Not to mention canon story of NieR say that humanity initially condider that a terrorist attack. So this part of ending is actully more to be expected
Dude has never played DoD3. Zero wanted to destroy the flower which created the other Intoners. One cloned herself and created Brother One who made the Cult of Watchers which was the cause of this ending and the events of NieR.
The way this leads into Nier was so cobbled together, lol it makes no sense at all, i don't even get why they need to connect the two, just make Nier it's own thing. Same thing between Nier and Automata, just makes no sense, they don't need to be connected
