Fast Passats seem to have been a dime a dozen in Japan, nearly every W8 and R36 for sale on Autotrader is a Jap import. They had a V6 4motion B5.5 with a full original votex kit and sport leather interior I was really tempted to buy.
Had my e91 335d for 5 years now and done 70k miles in it. It's been an amazing car for all uses, it's been to Nurburg, Germany several times and been amazing throughout. If you keep up on the maintenance and get rid of the DPF and EGR you'll have pretty much trouble free motoring even after tuning. having a 400hp diesel estate car that has monster torque certainly makes for an interesting facial expression on many other drivers haha!
I wanna second this comment. Own a 635d, same m57 engine.. 60k trouble free miles, like you say delete the egr, dpf and these motors are bullet proof.. plenty of power and torque to fend off even m series car (yes owned an m3 too..). Can’t fault getting 40-50mpg from these motors with enough speed and practicality in the estate version. Easily one of the best bang for buck.. bulletproof engines from real owners…

Some interesting cars on this list for sure, but it’s got to be the Volvo for me! Though, spending a fair amount of time being taken around in an 850 T5 before I got my hands on my own car, I’d be very much taken in by an 850 R which do crop up every now and again for sub 10k.. but looking at the prices of V70 Rs, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was tempted...
I had an 03 plate S60R for a few years. Ticked every box, comfortable, practical, sounded incredible and a load of fun. I thoroughly enjoyed surprising Audi S-line diesels on the bypass 🤣
Not sure about the Porsche for the top spot IMO in terms of overall running costs and reliability. I think the Audi, Volvo or the XF would get my vote. Really love the styling of the XF. Great video as always 👌🏻
I've got a manual E91 325i and while it's not quite as quick as some of these it's got a ton of character. Something special about a BMW straight 6, and when it's pushing a big estate what's not to like
I know it’s completely off topic with this video lmao, but do you have any opinions on any of the Renault Clio rs models? I’m thinking about buying one and I’m not too sure what other options I’ve got for a small hatchback kind of car?
People say that the later version of twin charged Fabia VRS from 2013 with engine codenamed CTHE (named CAVE before 2013) have resolved all the oil consumption and other issues. What's your opinion on this?
Great vid JB. Love the zafira VXR, just take the badges off! Does the BMW come with the optional indicators? Or do you have to subscribe & pay for them? Love the Volvo (we roll, look it up) that's the one I would have. The Audi issue with the tensioners is a good £5k job, buy if you are brave! The Porker, not my cup of tea. One it's ugly & two it's really ugly. All the best.............

Not sure about this 1 series I’ve seen on autotrader. It’s a 64 plate 3 door SE 116i with 52k miles. It apparently has fully service history and had its timing chain replaced. There’s a little dent in the front wheel arch and the break pads need doing soon but it has decent MOT records. Not sure as it was 8k and is now 7.5k so a bit cheaper than it should be. Any thoughts anyone? Thnaks
The volvo and the passat variant my favorite but they are has triple prices in turkey. Hard to buy them anyway due to the taxes. Thank you for the video

The issue I think with very high tech cars is the failure curve on electronics and battery condition and wiring deteriorating over time.
3.0d XF has been a great car. The S model can be slightly tuned to 300bhp which for a diesel is nuts. Luxurious interior and reliability (accept for some electrical gremlins) is v good.
My mate has a Cayenne.... Fuck me that's a money pit. Quick as fuck for what it is though. Personally I'd get the Jag, but I was sure there was a better engine choice.
I had an XF saloon up until about a month ago. Terrible family car, especially with two very young children. I'd imagine the sport brake is many times better but I wouldn't recommend the saloon. Saying that, it was hurrendously expensive when it went wrong. That, and my local dealership tried charging me £800 for something that didn't need doing.
