I love the implications of "Killing Intent", between Nagisa and the Principal. Nagisa is symbolized by a snake, something quick, agile, and tends to move his knife to the most vital spots. The Principal's centipedes represent a similar thing to killer intent, used as force of subjugation by fear. Fun fact, there are those that believe individuals that enjoy scaring others are reincarnated as centipedes.
Also some snakes are often know for hiding in plain sight, which Nagisa replicates rather well with him being able to act like a normal person until just the right moment to.... *STRIKE!*
In the world of powerful mutant, fbi agent, assassin's, and military personnel. The most terrifying and held such power is a ducking principal
So I'm going to be reincarnated as a centiped, huh?
Ayo, that snake vs centipede theme is very prominent in the game Sekiro, with snakes being closest to dragons and centipedes being "imposter" dragons, essentially.
Bro "killing intent" who tf can feel it bro, if a person with a knife just walks up to you with a smile you just gonna stand there like a literal dummy?
i love all of nagisa’s fight scenes. he’s definitely no fighter, but an assassin, looking for that one weak spot. it’s one of the reasons why karma and nagisa’s fight is my favorite. the contrast between the two styles...muah. chef’s kiss. both geniuses, both approaching a kill in a different way.
Assassins have a target
Fighters have an opponent
An assassin could beat anyone, but a fighter needs to be stronger
This is how a lot of the fight scenes go in Assassination Classroom. Often the person whose side we're on is the one struggling the most throughout the fight, but eventually they find that right opening to strike. The biggest example is probably Koro Sensei's first fight with Itona. He struggles a lot at first, but towards the end develops a strategy that catches Itona off guard, leading to Koro's victory. It's a great way to showcase how power isn't all that makes a fight, & ties in very well with the theme of power present throughout the series.

To the people confused why he said “I don’t need to fight him, just kill him”, it means several things. Killing people is easier in a way, it’s like he doesn’t need to hold back and can use any tactic necessary. He is also using a real knife this time, reminding himself that the handling is slightly different than what he has been training for. After all, I doubt at that point he believed that he would be the one to kill him (he probably thought someone like karma or maybe other characters would be able to). Considering the fact he takes into account all skills and abilities of everyone, it would be strange for him not to notice he doesn’t have a knack for fighting but rather assassination. Therefore, yes, this is his way of comforting himself.
The point is more that he doesn't need to act tough or try to be moral superior than his opponent just because his opponent is a dickhead, he understand the situation as "cut the bullshit and just do the deed already". That is why he was able to go full assassin mode there, because he understood he could ignore the full context of the supposed "fight" completely.
Also, their classroom has a different understanding of the word...
It's the way real life combat works. They just aim for the kill, none of the sparring type back and forth in most shows.
Also because with Assassination, if it's done right you won't need to worry about physical superiority or anything.
You won't need to get in a fight and struggle, you'll just take the kill and move on.
Here he didn't fight, he didn't get a chance to. He just moved in for the kill and took it swiftly.
Exactly, I think Nagisa isn't best fighter, he's definitely going to lose against a world-class fighter if they fight. But to kill? He can do that

Love the point of this scene. They’re not being trained to “fight.” A fight would give the target a chance. Assassins stack the deck. They don’t give a target any chance of escape. A perfect assassin strikes once and the job is done. No ifs, ands, or buts, and usually no trail to follow afterwards.
That’s what Nagisa realized, and that’s why he’s so good at it. All that matters is being the first to strike, and making sure there is no reply from the target after that first hit. That invalidates all other skills or talents involved automatically.
That's why assasin's in League is fcking ******
@@bergkatze3186 no
Yep, that's when he realized what "assassination" was about. The goal of an assassin isn't to fight their enemies and be stronger. The goal of an assassin is to kill their target. You don't have to be stronger, smarter, or more well armed than your target to kill them. You just have to find a weakness, exploit it, and don't give the target an opportunity to attempt to fight back.
@@ShaggyRogers1 Generally an assassin would want to be smarter, being able to plan ahead and accurately predict the events that will transpire beforehand is usually what separates an assassin from a fighter. If the fighter is smarter the assassin, the plan likely wouldn't unfold as he predicted.
Karasuma and Nagisa both have good instincts for people. Karasuma figured that if anyone had the aptitude to take out Takaoka, it’d be the one who had put even an inch of fear into his mind while training them. In return, Nagisa, who felt there were few who would look at him in a “respectful” way, immediately trusted Karasuma because he knew that behind those eyes were a calm judgement. I doubt even Karma could have taken on Takaoka.
If anything, Karma woulda fallen into the trap, no? He wanted someone to fight him, that was the whole point.

This is one of the most brilliant moments I’ve seen. Small, epic moments of triumph and slice of life that shows them getting used to this and building their abilities. Then, all that buildup culminates into this moment where Nagisa absolutely dominates him. Absolutely amazing.
Everyone else has kinda said this already, but a fight is a long drawn out thing that usually requires some kind of physical domination. The really hard bit (that Naigsa glosses over) is how to turn a difficult, drawn out combat into an assassination when your opponent sees you coming and is combat-ready. But if you can work out how to do that, the assassination part is relatively easy.

I would absolutely ADORE a new show focused on Nagisa in his career to see many moments like this!
No remorse, just purely objective.
This is why sometimes I envy psychopaths.
Objective doesn't mean what you think. Not comprehending others' emotions, and not having empathy is far from it.
I saw that as Psychopath but my mind recognized it as Suicopath.
I'm deep on the rabbit hole, yeah, so I will head to the exit.
@@BygoneT That actually is precisely what objectivity is. You remove the subjective aspect, aka the emotions, from the thought process, to then arrive at the conclusion that why do you need to fight the guy, aka playing his own game, when you can just quickly slit his throat and thus eliminate his strength.
That thought process Nagisa showed was pure logical calculation on a machine level.
@@buragi5441 Emotions have logic behind them, the only difference is that feelings don't allow you to push back unless you train yourself to do so.
If you're angry, you can use that to give yourself energy you wouldn't normally have through channels you mostly don't use. Logic lacks energy, it's only there to sift through choices, and in the end it's a feeling that makes you go through with acting, some spontaneous feeling you can't control that just lets you know it's the right choice.
If you're disgusted by someone, your logic is informed in different ways from anger or sadness. You might go further in destroying the body after you kill them because the idea that their body can be useful to the enemy, someone associated to the victim, is also disgusting.
I disagree on basically everything you wrote at the end, not only do I not think subjectivity exists at all (It's been a while since a read a halfway convincing argument), your own emotions are most definitely not exclusive to you, because they're the result of chemicals and nerves doing their job. Which obviously means other people can feel the same things, just not the identical feeling you had yesterday at midnight, because time and space can't be shared with others.
It's downright bizarre to see someone arguing that a lack of emotions would make you better at reaching a goal, when in the first place feelings are what make you want to do anything at all. It's not just about energy, it's method and understanding that is just infinitely harder without emotions. Sure, most people think putting aside your feelings is more efficient but that just means you don't really know what you're doing or what you want. There are people who killed people who didn't really think much of it and they're not psychos, riddle that one.
@@BygoneT The existence of emotions has logic behind it, but emotions themselves defy logic. If you are emotional, you are illogical. Acting based on emotions means acting based on ignoring facts.
