    We’ve just met the feather stick guru. It never once occurred to me to make a feather stick that way.

    That is the smartest damn way to make a featherstick. Why have I never seen that before?

    I have two 102s. One in 420 and one in s30v. I many many fixed blade knives from Bark River, Fallkniven, Mora, ESEE, Tops. I must say that the 102 is one of my favorite outdoor knives. It's perfect for backpacking because of its size and weight. The hollow grind makes it so dang sharp. I see them as the American Mora companion.

      Great knife.. Great choice!

      Do you prefer the 420 or s30v?

    • @vicarious1028

      @@Thirsty_Fox I would have to say the S30V. Although Buck's 420 is outstanding, the S30V holds an edge longer. And with Buck's hollow grind and edge geometry, it's very easy to get it razor sharp when it does need to be resharpened unlike most S30V blades. Plus the S30V version has a deep reddish brown micarta handle.

    I've been in the woods my whole life since when did it become cool to split wood with a knife. Try a hatchet every tool has its place.

      It is Internet monkey see, monkey do, shit.
      Sort of like my chainsaw can make wood chips, firewood and carve up an elephant in a "zombie apocalypse" situation.
      * Like : I think I'll stay inside
      and wax the Stihl.

    That little 102 is stout. I didn’t expect it to do great batonning. Did the guard or pommel loosen any?

      Negative. It's as solid as new.

    Okay, honestly how many tips did you break off? How many 102s did you have in your pack as we all know that they have a 'delicate tip' like the 119... Seriously great to see such nonsense gainsaid and a MK1 firebox too - I think I might subscribe - thank you. PS I have two of these babies and 119 and love their workmanlike qualities!

      Fading Margins The 102 is near and dear. It along with my 120 from 1980 have never let me down. I have never broke a tip. The wood was heavily resinated.
