Before I installed the 2x120, I used an Aims 6000watt, 24v, 2x120. It didn’t have the cloud monitoring/control feature like Victron equipment. I went with the Multiplus II 2x120 as I wanted the capability to add shore/generator input to support when the Victron 2400 watt of inverter is not enough. I plan to repurpose my Aims equipment for a home solar battery/solar panel solution to power my laundry room, water heater and second fridge/freezer to save on power bill but also to help if we lose grid.

Great install. What type of screws do you use for the solar panel install? Thanks Don

I’ve been watching your Videos lately and have a question. Why are people installing victron multiplus 2x120 when they don’t need 240 or they will install two for 5000 watts output what they could one quatro to get 5000 watts output. Rv’s don’t need split phase since nothing runs on 240 so why these spit phase units? Especially when victron makes single phase units. I’m thinking of upgrading my new camper it’s a 50 amp. What’s the advantage of these split phase units and do I have to use one for the fifty amp service breaker box?

That’s a great question the purpose of the 2 x 1 20 versions of the Victron multi plus is it automatically passes through 240 split phase from a 50 amp but then when you’re inverting there’s a relay inside that joins the hot legs together as if you’re on 30 amp just like you’re saying. Without this functionality, you’d have to convert your coach to an effective 30 amp system.. on my own personal RV that’s exactly what we did. I run to multi +3000 in parallel and they’re the older versions without 2 x 1 20 and we run two air conditioners, electric hot water pretty much everything we need without a problem.
If you have a 50 amp RV, the 2 x 1 20 multiplex inverter is the perfect one for your system

@@sotasolar wouldn’t a quatro be a better choice for higher wattage demands of two ac’s I’m guessing in would take up less space than two multiplus 2x120 and no difference in price and would it be easier to wire?

@@Mark-ry4ye Quattro is 3 wire input, 50 amp coach is 4 wire, to use a Quattro would require rewiring the main panel. We need to be a bit more conservative when it comes to modifying existing systems. For many folks they just want it to "work" . You're not wrong, you can definitely do that, we might even do it on our own rig (See JD's mega 10kw Victron Mulitplus video). We just can't rock the boat / rv too much when it comes to changing things down stream. I've approached some customers on the idea, always met with looks of confusion and apprehension.

@@sotasolar when your talking about rewiring do you mean combining the neutral and ground or something like that? Thank for your response s what I appreciate it. As this stuff is really expensive and I don’t want to make a mistake.

Would the 280 fit in there?

Not sure, this was a tight fit as it was
