Great job Steve, thanks for sharing. I have the GTX-100 and I firmly believe the clean sounds (starting with the '65 Twin Reverb) are spectacular. They pretty much nailed the EJ Cliffs tone as well. It's a great practice amp, lots of fun, and the looper pedal is a blast.
Totally agree. Well said. And Yep, the looper pedal is terrific. I did a video years ago using the GT 40 looper, and I am shocked by how many views. 46,000 and still growing. People love it.
To my ear this amp has way more usable, good sound presets than any other modeling amp I’ve ever listened to. This one is one to get! Bye bye Katana! Thanks for doing this review exactly the way you did.
@jatashyarjoshi889 no. No pedals necessary as a beginner. You have a ton of tone abilities available. Definitely want to explore building tone using the Fender app. There is a bunch of youtube stuff too...but jam away. The only thing I would add on is a volume pedal and a wah wah. But if your just practicing at home..put on the headphones, Bluetooth the music and jam away
Hey Steve, great content here. Thank you for doing this for us. What beach is that in the background at the beginning? Looks familiar to this Floridian.
I like this amp but i like one feature on spatk where you play riff and it creates background music. I like the big speaker of fender i guess i should just buy one of the two.
Hey, great videos thanks for doing these. Are you considering doing any with the GTX and and external effects, such as helix, Pod or other type?? Wondering how this amp lends itself to being in the mix with other kit.
Thanks, Simon, glad you like everything, and welcome! I may do some of those types of videos, though a big reason I have the GTX is because it has all I need: amps, cabs, effects, etc. Still, I have some pedal vids and contests coming up. I’ll give it more thought! 🎸
Sorry for just now replying. That is my “Clean 1“ tone. Check out my other videos, including one from yesterday, with links to download all the tones. Glad you like it! And I’d love it if you help spread the word about my channel! :-)
Oh shoot, I realized you were talking about the hard rock one. Sorry! That one is METAL. You can find the video and link to the tone here: ruclips.net/video/TE6R7cctcVI/видео.html
Best dam modeling amp you can buy, it cost more than a mustang but its worth every cent and the best beginner amp the GTX50 will serve you well till your ready to step up to a valve, Fender knows how to build a modeling amp its 4years down the track and still the best you can buy
I'm looking to get into playing electric with an amp that gives different effects. I normally play piano and have been doing fingerstyle for a while now. Would you recommend this for me. Looks like what I have been searching for.
Hi, welcome! And yes, I definitely recommend it for you, though the Mustang LT-25 is also really good for new electric players. It has a lot (but not all) of the features of GTX-50 or 100. Thanks for watching!
T Dawg I’m not sure if using the xlr outputs does that, but I often plug in earbuds into the headphone jack, which mutes the speaker ... to accomplish what you’re after ;-)
Hi Steve, I downloaded your "Atmospheric, by Steve Guitar" preset on the Fender Tone app for my Mustang GT40, and it's just the most pleasant echo-y ambient sound. Put some nature field recordings in the background and you instantly sound like Brian Eno. Really nice. Thanks!
Chris Mohnacky wow, that makes my day. Thanks for sharing that, Chris. So glad you like it, and I agree Eno-esque ambient tones are super cool. Thanks! 🙌
I did an update and the app tells me that needs one, it's so frustrating cuz doesn't let me do anything with the app and the gtx is not supported by the fender tube app for windows help
I can try to help, but I’m not an expert completely here. Are you using their desktop app? Or the app for iPad, iPhone, or android? It sounds like you are on windows.
I don’t have the desktop app. I just use the iPad and iPhone ones, and it works perfectly. I recommend that, but here are some videos on the desktop that I hope will help: m.ruclips.net/video/tA39aEqkK5U/видео.html
I bought the GT40 a couple of years back and have been a bit underwhelmed by it and surprised that I have to crank it to nearly 10 to get any real volume out of it. Is it worth trading in my GT40 for the new GTX100?
Jeff H good question, and have you upgraded the firmware to the latest version? I have heard from many GT owners that once they did that, the amp came alive and went from boxy to 3-D.
Rico Nadjar You can, but you have to be very careful with volumes when it comes to playing a bass through a guitar amp. I’m no expert on it, but you have to be careful not to damage the speaker, since the frequencies are so low.
Hey, I wish I could help, but I have never played the LT 50. My guess is that it is a good jump up in quality, because I believe the speaker is bigger and better, and there are more effects and options in the GTX. Hope that helps a little
On the Same Boat here...Is the Processor better than on the LT Series or just an Upgrade Software-wise? More Amps and FX. Did you have the Chance to check that? Did you get an GTx?
josiel.LV Awesome! Welcome to my channel, and that’s so cool that you are Peruvian. I’d love to make it to your country sometime! And it would be great if you would subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already. Thanks for your support!
05/30/2020: I have seen reviews where people say the distortion channels are not great. What do you think? Also, does the GTX have a simulated tube tone for this Fender solid-state amp, like the Fender Tone Master has simulated good tube tones?
Hi, sorry I missed this comment a few weeks ago! Good questions. I'm really loving the GTX distortion tones. Check out my Hard Rock, Metal, Blues Junior, and Crunch videos for example. The high-gain stuff sounds MUCH better and really tube-like all around, in my opinion. Hope that helps!
@@SteveGuitar Will check your HR and Crunch videos. Good heavy tones are difficult to get from my old Mustang 1 V1 amp. You only have an overdrive pedal in it, no distortion ones.
Yeah I deleted most of these and have built tones based around either a Deluxe or Princeton Because you can’t add a tone of pedals I duplicate the basic setup and delete and add pedals. So I have overdrive or delay or ….
You could still hook up a specific pedal. Each pedal allows you to modify and you can set the effects as pre or post. I have this amp as well. I can make just about any sound I can think of.

I've had this amp for years...and it is my favorite amp to play around in jam sessions
How is gt40 amp?
Is it okay for a beginner?
I dont need to buy any pedals if i get this amp? ( i am beginner on electric guitar )

@jatashyarjoshi889 get the app. Set up account. Connect to Bluetooth on your amp pair it..
Thanks for this video. You inspired me to buy one this week. Amazing bit of tech. Downloaded a bunch of your creations too! Subbed.
Sweet! Very cool to hear. Take care.
Can I record all these sounds to iPhone garage band without latency I have the camera adapter???

St George Island in the northwest coast, though I’m from Orlando and I’ve been all over the state 😎👍
