    Had the Katana MK1 and MK2, Marshall Code. Bought this. This wipes the floor with them all and it is almost too easy to use.

      I actually am digging the high gain tones I have created. Fender really upped their game with this.

      The gtx100 is a monster. I love everything about it. Any tone you could think of... all in one combo amp. Even the acoustic simulation sounds great. Great buy, and I usually hate fender products

    I bought this amp yesterday as a ‘practice amp’ (Bluetooth, fender tone app, looper). I own a katana MkII, Stl tonality tonehub and amp/artist packs, neural Dsp, Helix Native, and all the Positive Grid Bias amp 2 and FX2 for reference.
    This amp has the best high gain tones in a fender modeler to date. You’re able to shut off the cabs and run this into a DAW and use IR‘’s! Further, You can send a line out to a powercab 112 plus and quiet the amp while being able to manage the level out with the channel volume. It sounded so good lmao, especially in stereo.
    I agree with Lee from Anderton’s and I don’t think anyone models fender amps as well as fender. That sold me in the store, and of course Ola’s “WILL IT CHUG”!
    Oh, it does. Shit I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. It’s a keeper. Best wishes all! 🖖🏽🖖🏼🖖🏻🖖🏾🖖🏿🖖

      I saw you mentioned you had the Katana. How do the high gain sounds compare to it? And does the Mustang take pedals well?

    • @Luchodela
      @Luchodela Год назад

      Hi @Rluce75, As @draglinedrummer is asking, I'm so curious about your impression of how the GTX compares to the Katana MKII. Please can you share some feedback? I'm so struggling to decide between the both, and I'm in the way of deciding in favor of Katana due to 1)price here in my country and 2)Anderton's review that showed Katana cut better through the mix for live situations. But the truth is I wish I didn't have to lose wifi, Bluetooth and mobile app capabilities. Thank you!

      Do not entertain buying a Fender GTX 100!. After about 18mths mine went dead. Out of warranty, I took it to a great Amp repairman. Fender Australia does not have spare parts. No modules no boards. The amp is now useless.

  • @brianessig
    @brianessig 4 года назад +34

    FINALLY another review of this amp. I am trying to compare this to the Katana Mkii 100. The Katana seemed to be better than the GT but now this GTX line seems like it may have taken the lead.

    • @fanelliandrea820
      @fanelliandrea820 4 года назад +6

    • @jlmcgrot

      @@fanelliandrea820 Well, this one is about $150 more than the katana and from what I can tell, it does NOT come with the footswitch.

    • @brianessig
      @brianessig 4 года назад +1

      Yeah and the gtx footswitch has a looper function. The new mk2 seems to have lost that on their foot switch to make room for another fx function which makes no sense to me

    • @kirby119207
      @kirby119207 4 года назад +14

      As someone who has experience with both, deciding between the two will most likely come down to functionality instead of sound per se. The katana is a really great sounding amp and really shines with grittier tones where I feel the GTX shines more on the Fender cleans. Both take pedals well but the effects are where things differ. The Katana needs to be plugged into a computer to have full customization. You can save a few effects pedals and save presets with tones but you are limited compared to the fender where everything is accessible in the app. I love the katana, especially for a more simplistic set and forget type amp where I have four solid presets with maybe one or two effects I can turn on or off on each preset. I love the fender because I can put it in the bedroom and tinker and play around without having to bring pedals up. I can be creative with it and get far out sounds or just jam a bit on loop with just the guitar. I can do the same with katana but always wanted to use my pedals for more versatility. I don’t need to do that with the fender. If you want a simpler to use design with great sounds but less on-the-fly customization or plan to only use external effect pedals, get the katana. If you want every possible sound you can access via app and only use your guitar with no pedals, get the fender. Hope that helps!

  • @donaldlemieux
    @donaldlemieux Год назад +4

    excellent demo, I'm replacing the Katana 50 with this amp. It seems so easy to dial a great tone. You can modify directly from the amp, compared to the Katana which needs to be connected to the app all the time to benefit the effects and tones. I personally never liked the Katana app, Fender has mastered a great application for an amazing amp

      Hands down Rob, just ordered this, I never felt like I ever got the best out of my katana, no doubt superb amps, but felt like to get the best from it I’d need to basically have it permanently at the side of the laptop. That's good to know!
      Do you use your GT for recording using the USB?
      If so, how stable is the connection and latency?
      What I like about these new models is the fact they have XLR output for recording, which it's better than USB.
      But since you can pick up a GT 40 for £180, half of the price of GTX50, I just wonder if it's still a good amp for recording.

    Honestly the sound I hear of the GTX in the demo is not particularly thrilling. Especially the lows sound shrill and compressed to my ear. It still does not seem to live up to my old Mustang I v2, which has really good Twin Reverb, Bassman and Deluxe sounds. Seems better than the dreadful Mustang GT, which was super light and with interesting connectivity, but almost unusable. I believe that was the price paid for its lightness, but other superlight amps like the Vox VX had much better sounds. Even though I love Fender and their brand I am afraid the Katanas will still be a better option

      I just got the GTX 50 watt and yes you can! You can do it all on the amps LCD or you can do it on the Fender Tone App. It lets you set up a preset so you choose your amp, then you can add a ton of peddles to the amp chain like in real life. Its pretty cool. You can even add multiples of the same peddle with different settings. From what I can tell they really tried hard to mimic the freedom you have in real life when setting up your sound.

    Is it possibile to use real external pedal, for example a boost and decide to put it at the end of the chain? Does it work like Power AMP without the internal pre? And in this case it works with Mooer GE - Hotone Amper and similar?? Thanks

    Fender put out the crappy Mustang GT which was not nearly as good as the Mustang V1 and V2 then they followed that up by pulling the plug on the Fuse software support. They also offered the GT software for your phone only as if anyone was going to take a GT out to gig.
    You pissed on the customers that made the original Mustang so successful in hope of selling them the bad replacement and now you expect them to buy this?
    Will you can drop the software support again and leave us hanging like before?

      Fender didn’t pull the fuse software the decision was made by Microsoft who pulled it

    Love the feature where you can chose artist/ song preset effects from Fender or Community??? So great that one doesn't have to struggle with several effects to get the sound of their favorite artists just right.
    Does anyone know if this is only a feature available in this Fender GTX series and the positive grid spark amp? No other manufacturers offer this?

      Honestly not sure about that. I know both Line 6 and Boss have online communities where you can download people's setups

      If your looking for high gain sounds, just ignore anything that says fender on it.

    I will never buy another Fender amp, Fender has been in the business longer than anybody. Still don't have modern technology, still using the old type USB connector on the device that has it. Most of the devices don't even have USB, much less Bluetooth. What a shame, Positive Grid Sparks amp is the way you should go more for your money? You can download any tone that you want That actually sounds like the real thing. With Fender you only get what Fender puts on their list. If you want anything else, you have to put it in one step at a time after you find something that will work and hope that it might sound correct after wasting 30 minutes of time.... No more Fender for me, All this thinking that Fender and Gibson is the best. It's b*******, there's some good stuff out there these days that don't cost you arm and a leg Fender and Gibson has been soaking up that gravy train too long... Too much overhead. Need to get rid of a bunch of corporate people that is just riding the clock, people are finding it out faster and faster these days...

    This Fender, like all of the others before it, can't play high gain anywhere near the Katana. Fender is pretty and clean, but if you want to run with the big dogs, you gotta look elsewhere.
