This was during a peak of BL2. Unfortunately at this time I was at work and by the time I got home it was already fixed. However these moments that may seem small just take you back.
When you look at this now you just think, thats how BL3 drops are. However what made that day special was that it wasn't a common thing to see drops like that and it would have sucked if they kept it like that. However the idea of having a random day that gearbox would increase drops to insane level would be fun for BL2.
the reason modern borderlands games are just garbage is because theres no legendary moments like this, even intentionally. in bl3 they can buff legendary drops for events but they already drop every kill so nobody cares. theres no big $100,000 loot hunts with massive updates. theres no new character dlcs. theres just the endless re-releases of new editions of the same games over and over and over again just trying to milk it as much as possible. at least pc mods can improve bl2 and bl1 enough to endlessly replay them without issue.

This is exactly how it feels, even without mods bl2 has near infinite replayability and borderlands 1 is iconic and there's a ton of things to do despite how baren it feels apon a quick look over
I got so many legendaries without trying in borderlands 3, I had to keep checking to make sure I didn't have the game on easy difficulty. I couldn't believe how many were dropping. I practically never even had to use a green or white rarity item for anything. That was definitely not the case in BL2! I didn't even get purple rarity as often in BL2 as I got orange in BL3.
BL2 legendary drop were absolutely abysmal, like 1 in 3000, and that was AFTER they tripled the drop rates. BL3 was the complete Polar opposite and it's made worse by there being no rarity above legendary.
In my opinion BL1 had the best world drop system, and it was cool seeing enemies hold and using the legendary weapons.
Calling Bl3 garbage is just wild to me, it's a fine game, I don't understand the unnecessary hatred towards it, idc if "oh legendaries drop to frequent wah wah wah", it doesn't matter, sure story is crap, but bl2 story wouldn't be good with Handsome Jack, people bewilder me sometimes.
I remember this day so clearly. My little brother was extremely sick and I was home checking up on him while simultaneously skipping class. I had made him some Chicken noodle soup and he had asked me if I wanted to play BL2 with him. I said sure and 4 minutes into playing and he's going nuts at the amount of legendries were dropping. I swear the loot made him feel better than the soup! He doesn't remember that day as much as I do but it was definitely one I'll cherish.
Awwww, that’s a really sweet story :), I hope you and your brother still hop on some borderlands together on occasion! This game is truly timeless
Except for the chicken noodle soup part, which is funding animal abuse.
I watch a LOT of bl2 video from top 10, retrospective, etc but i never knew about this patch

Ah yes I remember this! I’d just gotten to level 30 using the old Fleshstick boosting method (which also got fixed this patch) and I had so many level 30-31 legendaries from that hour or so I got it for. Was a glorious mistake, but I could finally get an infinity pistol (which was also fixed as Doc Mercy didn’t drop it for the longest time) 🙈
I remember this moment so vividly, was literally freaking out over all the legendaries in chests. One of the best moments in a video game I've ever experienced.

Dude I remember playing during this, I was sick and not at School so I just played BL2 killing enemies in Three Horns Divide and got my VERY FIRST Infinity Pistol from a random Bullymong and then a fucken Conference Call from a Poop Pile and many MANY other Legendary Guns and Gear.
Don't remember this at all but I do remember when those guys broke the Golden Chest and somehow had infinite keys
there's a gibbed program that makes it so you can change a value, load the game, use your keys, exit, change the value again, and you still have all of your keys.

I've played BL2 since day one on console; 1st game I have beaten 100+ times.
I started this game in 2016 and I still love the game to this day and the amount of funny moments and cursed moments are through the roof but my all time favorite was when 1 time I killed the warrior and this guy just chilled standing up and then a new warrior spawned that was unkillable I loved that so much
I honestly hoped that the world bring this back as a holiday season thing for Wonderland. Just one day of legendary items dropping at a high rate.
I happened to be playing borderlands 2 that day! I thought it was just my game that had been bugged, and i played many, many more hours without quitting the game so i could keep playing while finding legendaries literally everywhere. I think in total, i played almost 24 hours that session lol.
I am happy to have some closure on the issue, since it still comes to mind when i play bl2, and i never had a clear answer as to what happened that day. Thanks for the video.
edit: you said it only lasted for 3 hours, but i am sure i remember it happening in my game until i quit the session. I was already playing when it started happening, btw, so somehow my game was affected while already playing for some hours that session, but the drop rate didn't go back to normal until i quit the game for the day.
i'm pretty sure i was already playing the game at the time the patch was rolled out but i used to play on a friend's xbox and we probably missed it

I remember this I was like 15 absolutely such a historic moment. I think it was the first time I actually got a near perfect class mod for maya without intentionally going for chubbys. That class mod was with me till I think way past I hit 61cause it was peak

I remember this exact day, at the time i didnt even own anything capable of watching youtube, i simply got on, started playing, and felt like a god for about an hour and a half before i got off.
I still have 94% sham technically "world drop" I got that day. It was good.
That day was quite weird, because i got strep from my best friend (my now step brother :)) and stayed home. I was playing minecraft most of that day tbh, the day sucked, but damn did that make me so happy.

Sadly I was at school too and my dad was probably working. I didn't even know about it till you posted this. I just spend hours farming bosses over and over now because it's not worth farming world drops by non-unique enemies

I still remember the day they nerfed the Evil smasher. I had just gotten a infinety and a bee sheald. I had packed my Xbox and gone over to a friend. We where about to slaughter some raid bosses, but we culd not mannage to stack the smasher glitch. We were bouth wery peeved about that 😅

i just started to replay bl2 with my brother and have had the best luck ive ever had. nearly all bosses have dropped their gun up to caustic caverns.

Still just this game is broken but when a random legendary is found in ammo crate that moment cannot be created in any other game, and talk about the 3rd, something ain't right if a weapon gets buff over 500%
I've no clue what I was doin that day, having only started playing Borderlands a few months prior to BL3 coming out. I do remember loving Borderlands GotY Enhanced so much, I went to Gamestop the next day and bought The Handsome Collection as well as pre-ordered BL3 with all the extras for Xbox.

Lost my microsoft xbox account yesterday and no longer can access it, had 4 vault hunters nearly maxed out and a bunch of guns I loved to use, oh well. I guess getting back to that point will be double the fun it was before!

Basically my old account got logged out, and I had had that one account for years and didn't remember the login and microsoft can't help me out, my phone numbers have changed so can't out codes in for password changes. I thought this video was gonna explain why I loaded up BL2 one day and inexplicably had hundreds of badass tokens I didn't earn.
I've never seen any acknowledgement of this from anyone else before and am still dumbfounded.
I could never get the Mongol to drop from Dukinos Mom but after logging into my PS3 one day, BAM. Shortly after i got it though, i noticed i was getting a lot more from chests and weaker enemies. I managed another half hour of these drops before like you said, they fixed it 😅
I remember being most of the way through my first playthrough before I ever saw a legendary item. Then, one day, I was putting around in Lynchwood, and I suddenly started getting purples and legendaries left and right. I had no idea what was going on. I don't know what day it was, so I'm not sure if it was related to this or not.
Back then, it had never crossed my mind to farm bosses or anything like that, and I hadn't been watching borderlands 2 content on RUclips, so I didn't even know that was something people did 😂

For me I was working so I didn’t know about it it would have been super cool to get so many infinity pistols. Not only that but you would make a lot of money selling the ones you didn’t want maybe they can tweak raid bosses to drop more legendary gear in 4 as a reward for team efforts can’t wait for the trailer.
How the heck did I miss this, must have been working out of town that week.

There is someone who updated the game to get the boost, but then took it offline after, somewhere yhere is someone still with the drop chances, somewhere out there. Im sure of it.
damn i had this game the day it released on my xbox 360, but my moms internet at the time was awful and i rarely ever connected it to xbox live, i missed out on this entirely!

I startet in 2014 and i got a lvl 19 venture longbow from Michael marmael before they changed the drop rate from 3 to 9 %
Wish the droprate for 2 was a bit higher, at least for dedicated boss drops. I spent like 16 hours grinding 1 infinity pistol one time. And I was getting a kill every 2 and a half minutes. And also checking for tubbys.
I got BL2 pretty late in my childhood I think freshman year of highschool back in 2015-16...my xbox was never connected to ethernet so I was able to play un-patched BL2 with that one torgue rifle that can stack a glitch by swapping over and over. I forgot what it was called lol been so long.

Edit: I made this before finishing the video. I hadn't seen the quick BL3 logo yet.
Which is one reason why the game awful. They devalued all of the badass weapons.

I drop this story from time to time, a serious thing shouldt had happen in Borderlands 2 for me.
twas around 2015 i think, i jsut got the level pack so i finally went to the uncharted teritories of level 51 Zer0. decided to farm some varkids for ez XP. it was on PS3 and always played on public if any rando want to join. a levle 49 giage joins. we farm for few minutes, and then. a super badass varkid becomes a supreme badass, i was in awe, no less than 10 seconds later- it transformed to Varminvorus the invincible. it took a long time to kill, no legendary drop. but as far as i know, the chances for it to happen where exactly 0%

Yeahhhhh and that’s one of my biggest gripes with the game Funny enough. What you think is awesome when your young is very different then that of myself now almost 10 years later. But it still was cool to look back on

@@Joshua-s2p1g about 90% of the gear in this game has a dedicated loot source. I’d recommend to just keep watching videos, learn how things work
