I expected the huge swath of sports games, but I'm pleasantly surprised that Tekken, Ace Combat and Onimusha made such a great showing, and especially elated to see so much Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts in the top 20 :D
Wait, Kingdom Hearts 1 is sold MORE than Kingdom Hearts 2?! Resident Evil 4 is sold so little? And where is Crash Twinsanity and Crash Tag Team Racing!?!?
1)Well while technically superior kh2 came out the end of the ps2 life cycle so it sold less 2)re4 was for almost a year a GameCube exclusive (8/9months) so most people bought it for the GameCube and it sold less on the ps2 3)both games sold very few copies
this list is based off of a list on wikipedia, which itself is imprecise because a lot of publishers don't release exact sales numbers. at the time of the ps3's release, the entire sly series had over 2.2 million in sales, but the exact division of those sale numbers per game seems like it's unknown. the list the video creator used cites sly 1 with 1 million copies sold as of sly 2's release. so sly 2+3 combined probably sold the remaining 1.2 million from the 2006 combined sales numbers, but likely sold more since the ps3's release. whatever sales numbers are just unrecorded, but i'd be surprised if sly 2 didn't sell close to 2 million, and sly 3 around 1.5 million.
GTA San Andreas is in my opinion the best game ever made. I played the story like 30 times. The last time i played the mobile version 4 months ago when i was in hospital and had to completly stay in bed for 3 weeks. It deserved the number one ! :D
@@sphereshadow not that hard if you leave Smoke sorry shooting ass behind, drive ahead of the train on a building on the path, jump on the train and shoot the guys. Then go back and get Smoke to take him home. Supply lines much later on is the hardest mission and I never completed it. Good thing its not required to beat the game. But I agree best game ever. I love God of war 2 and God of war.
Hey Gary, love your vids :) just wanted to say i noticed that the listed amount of copies sold for 3rd place, Grand Turismo 4 is 14.89 million, and for 2nd place, Grand Turismo 3: A-Spec is listed as having sold 11.76 million, ~3mil less than 3rd place. The games I still need to play are: Dragon Quest V Yakuza (Although I got Kiwami so I don't need to get the PS2 version) Spider-Man 2 The Lord of the Rings The Simpsons Hit&Run FF X-2 FF XII The Jak series The Devil May Cry Series I have most of these games but never played them (I was replaying MGS and FF IX over and over again), Hit&Run and Dragon Quest V might be a little difficult to get.
Back in the days when it was cheesy to pick Brazil in soccer games... It's weird that there aren't any FIFA games in the list, even though PES was much better during that generation. Food for thought!

Ah, Max Payne, the game with top of the line ps1 graphics, an amazing storyline, great shooting mechanics, and 20 frames per second! There's also a lot of brutal shit in that game, I'm pretty sure it shows a baby getting stabbed to death...
I'm still have ps2 and have games such as Yakuza,God of war,Prince of Persia,two thrones,Grand theft auto (San Andreas and liberty city stories),onimusha (1-4) and Shadow of colossus.
Thank God my fav game tekken 5 is in the top 10 even though GTA sold twice more lol. I remember playing only a few games on this list because i play mostly tekken, tekken 3 then tekken 5, but i remember i also liked to play PES 06 and Dragon ball Budokai tenkaichi 2 and 3.
GTA, God of war, and ratchet and clank are pretty much the only games I had on my ps2 back when, that and metal gear solid 2, guitar hero and need for speed. Although I had the Xbox with medal of Honor, Halo 1 and 2 , and doom 3. Which that was a shit ton of Halo 2
Back then PES was by far the best entry when it came to soccer simulation games. I owned both FIFA as well as PES games for my PS2 and I had a lot more fun with PES as it was quite realistic during that era. Despite that the gameplay still holds well these days FIFA is obviously a lot better than PES nowadays when it comes to presentation, game modes (UT) or licenses
The more I think about it, the more I think something is wrong with this data. I made this video based on sales data provided by Wikipedia, but I'm starting to doubt it. I find it very hard to believe that for all the Pro Evolution Soccer titles here that there isn't a single FIFA game represented. While you may have enjoyed PES more, FIFA had a large number of fans as well. It's hard to imagine that not even a single FIFA game cracked the top 100. Maybe WIkipedia is just plain wrong?

With very few exceptions (e.g. the Final Fantasy series), JRPGs tend to be quite niche - and don't sell huge numbers. Certainly not enough to crack the top 100.

Jack Mehoff compared to the RE series the racing community has no-one, nobody plays grand turismo anymore but everyone knows what RE4 is its one of the greatest games of all time.

There is an error with the copies sold of gran turismo 3 (place 2)- it has less than gran turismo 4 (place 3) How much doed it have? Or should it just be switched
can you tell me which game I remember that the game loading was an hourglass and also the first stage the boss was a dragon and had three characters a wizard, warrior, archer and there is a giant spider phase and every phase that passed was by portal can help you find it
I'd recommend Here Comes the Pain over all. SVR self titled, 06, and 07 are pretty damn good too, but Here Comes the Pain is king in my book. Ik this is a late response and you've probably made a decision already, but I still thought "why not" I'll leave a comment lol

1)Well while technically superior kh2 came out the end of the ps2 life cycle so it sold less
2)re4 was for almost a year a GameCube exclusive (8/9months) so most people bought it for the GameCube and it sold less on the ps2
3)both games sold very few copies

this list is based off of a list on wikipedia, which itself is imprecise because a lot of publishers don't release exact sales numbers. at the time of the ps3's release, the entire sly series had over 2.2 million in sales, but the exact division of those sale numbers per game seems like it's unknown.
the list the video creator used cites sly 1 with 1 million copies sold as of sly 2's release. so sly 2+3 combined probably sold the remaining 1.2 million from the 2006 combined sales numbers, but likely sold more since the ps3's release. whatever sales numbers are just unrecorded, but i'd be surprised if sly 2 didn't sell close to 2 million, and sly 3 around 1.5 million.

GTA San Andreas is in my opinion the best game ever made. I played the story like 30 times. The last time i played the mobile version 4 months ago when i was in hospital and had to completly stay in bed for 3 weeks. It deserved the number one ! :D

@@sphereshadow not that hard if you leave Smoke sorry shooting ass behind, drive ahead of the train on a building on the path, jump on the train and shoot the guys. Then go back and get Smoke to take him home. Supply lines much later on is the hardest mission and I never completed it. Good thing its not required to beat the game. But I agree best game ever. I love God of war 2 and God of war.

GTA, God of war, and ratchet and clank are pretty much the only games I had on my ps2 back when, that and metal gear solid 2, guitar hero and need for speed. Although I had the Xbox with medal of Honor, Halo 1 and 2 , and doom 3. Which that was a shit ton of Halo 2
Back then PES was by far the best entry when it came to soccer simulation games. I owned both FIFA as well as PES games for my PS2 and I had a lot more fun with PES as it was quite realistic during that era. Despite that the gameplay still holds well these days FIFA is obviously a lot better than PES nowadays when it comes to presentation, game modes (UT) or licenses
The more I think about it, the more I think something is wrong with this data. I made this video based on sales data provided by Wikipedia, but I'm starting to doubt it. I find it very hard to believe that for all the Pro Evolution Soccer titles here that there isn't a single FIFA game represented. While you may have enjoyed PES more, FIFA had a large number of fans as well. It's hard to imagine that not even a single FIFA game cracked the top 100. Maybe WIkipedia is just plain wrong?

They were fairly late releases. God of War 2 especially, it came out in 2007 when the PS3 was already out.
A thing is wrong in this list: Gran Turismo 3 sold much more than Gran Turismo 4, so I think you reversed the number of copies sold.
