The top 100 PS2 games - according to gaming site IGN (ca.ign.com/lists/ps2-games)
I am personally not a fan of top 100 lists; they are waaaay to subjective and fanboy wars always break out. However, after my first "100 PS2 Games In 10 Minutes" video received about 3000 comments asking for God of War / Grand Theft Auto SA, etc, I created this one.
Having said that, the games on this list are generally pretty solid, if a little pedestrian.
Yes, a few of these clips are recycled from my other video ( • 100 Random PS2 Games I... ). If you have not seen it already, I recommend you watch it to catch a glimpse of some lesser known PS2 classics.

@@xsleepy1476 I'm gradually self settling myself back to that natural mode, cancelled my Xbox gold membership to see If I can survive... Kinda like testing to see if we can survive a year without using phones. (Though if that happened it would be the apocalypse sadly)
I played online on my ps2 every day on Socom 2 and Splinter Cell Spies vs. Mercs. There were tons of active online games...

There are still a few gems released these days but its rare. Bloodstained ritual of the night is one of them
Yeah now devolpers know they can release unfinished games and patch it later
blame their bosses not the developer... most game's have directors, producers, project managers... it's becoming a common trend to attack game developers online when a bad game from THEIR COMPANY drops. The common developer is just clocking in and following orders, not intentionally putting out sub par work to make a quick buck.

Daniel Rosa oh damn life back then was so awesome even though I'm only 16 I still remember getting up before school and playing games like: bloody roar (I dunno if u know this game it was awesome and you could transform into an animal I always loved Tigers and other animals), resident evil 4 , digimon rumble arena, dragonball budokai 3 , KOF, tekken3 , tomb raider for ps1 and all that stuff. Miss the old times o_O

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks? That game was a freaking masterpiece. One of the best co-op games ever made.

Good old days, when consoles were good. No day one patch, no forced online games, no remakes/remasters of shitty games and if you wanted to play with a friend, you just needed a second controller no "Profile" for every single shit. I can't even remember a single game for the playstation 2, that came out unfinished or unpolished, like the garbage we get now for almost every new release, no matter if it's Pc or consoles, it's a shame.

Will Klos well yeah, but the nice substitute is buying SP only games on PS4 (like the new GoW). No microtransactions, no forced online only. But you're right, many games do make you do bullshit things nowadays. PS2 was the one of the best consoles ever made.
Spyro: enter the dragonfly is one example that came out unpolished. It's the glitchiest game I've played on the original ps2 back in the day. It would be nice if there was a remaster/fix patch, it had good potential to be a great game aside from the bugs
Will Klos Thats why I love playing older games than those shitty triple A titles, etc. I mostly play 1.6, street fighter (the old ones ofc), Source, Half Life 1 & 2, etc.
I remember the graphics looking amazing back when i played it when i was younger , looking back on it today its crazy how much has changed
I think the movement and sound effects are still better than they are now

Beyond Good and Evil was a truly fantastic and memorable game. Played a lot of these but that game really blew me away back in the day.

I recommend doing the last 10-15 games only if your not gonna complete the entire thing.

PS2 was my first game console when I was 8 years old and it brought me great joy.
The first time I realized the beauty of games.
At that time, my parents would beat me because I played games for too long.
This console is so legendary. My Ps2 which was my dads, was bought by him in 2000 and to this day it still works

PS2 was the golden age of video games. We had G4TV and Xplay. E3 was a huge deal and greatly anticipated. Online play was free and fun and no need to be online always to play a single player game. Man I miss these days.

Ah man, Dark Alliance 1 and 2 was me and my buddy's go to sleep over game back in jr. high and high school. Friday night go catch a movie after practice, run to walmart and get $10 worth of little debbie cakes and drinks, try to snag a cheap anime in the bargain bin, head home watch the movie and then PS2 til 5am. That was the life.

Black is one of the best. I played the full campaign a few months ago and it is as fun as playing a lot of recent FPS games. Graphics are dated, but the way the environment is so destructable just has a great feel to it.

The warriors for life the only game that never got boring for me i have it on ps2 and psp never got the chance for the xbox version
Kinetica, Timesplitters, Bujingai forsaken city, Darkwatch Xenosaga and Dot hack are very underrated for me.

Minus a few here and there I've never heard of this list is solid and valid. Many great memories of these games. Some I only saw in magazines or in the stores and heard they were classics at the time.

@@jojoalberto The mobile version of GTA: San Andreas lost a few songs but did look sharper; sadly, there is always a trade-off when it comes time to release a new version of GTA. GTA IV and GTA V on mobile will be almost completely different versions except save the gameplay.

God of war, dark alliance, jak and daxter, ratchet and clank, so many memories. Only missing "Third Age" lotr game, my all time favorite.
This console was the only thing that got me to do my homework! I remember my mom saying “finish your school work and you can play for a few hours before bed” those were the good ol days……

I think he made the list based on the metacritic scores. The metacritic score for GTA 3 is 97% while San Andreas has a 95% score.
The list is based on IGN's rankings of the top 100 PS2 games of all time. Ask IGN why GTA 3 is above SA.

But for anyone who hasn't ever seen something that has made them question the sanity of IGN (unlikely)
Enter the Matrix is nowhere to be found on this list. It should be alongside Hot Pursuit 2, Mercenaries, Dmc3, the Tony Hawk's, etc.
So many of the games on this list look freaking horribly aged, dorky, bulky in movement and just not fleshed out, like they were even from some form of the Ps2 a generation before the Ps2!
If you don't have Enter the Matrix on your Ps2 list, that's crazy! One of the best game ever made.

i may not be a old school gamer but to be honest it gets me weirdly nostalgic. I was born in an area where online is prominent (so basically 2005) but i always had this fascination for consoles of old, they have this enchanting feeling i cant really describe but i love.even though so many games are looking better and playing better i always seem to prefer the older titles at times, to be clear there is nothing wrong with a online multiplayer experience but i feel if you need online to enjoy the whole experience its not really worth it unlike a single player game. but hey my opinion is my opinion, and if anyone still reads this comment section sorry for bad grammar and punctuation and give it a dislike or something

I was born in 1993 so I grew up with the PS1 and PS2 in my childhood. Today i bought a PS2 (I had no interest in buying a modern console) and can't wait to get playing it again. I completely agree that there is something cool about being 'offline' and with slightly worse graphics etc. I feel like the game designers gave it their all cos it was such a huge (and relatively new) and exciting market back then.

I grew up on the super Nintendo and Playstation though. Never had a ps2 I did get an Xbox though. Still have it still works great. I have a ps3 too and it works great. Unfortunately the super Nintendo and Playstation both quit working years ago and I don't have anything left can't even find the games.
