I'm no longer a low-end gamer, but I love older games - I play a lot of PC, PS2, and Xbox 360 games that I didn't even know about when I was a kid.
Same , Ps2 era was the best . It had so many good, different games :')
for me its og xbox and 360 era games
Still remember my father, bringing home a shit pc around 2001-2002. He was a hard worker with financial difficulties(and still is) and bought that as present for me and my sister. It couldn't run a high end game of that era, so he bough a pc magazine that included a free cd with a game named "forsaken " or something.. i pretended to have fun playing it but was really bad 😂 Thanks dad for those memories, i never tell you in real life because im scary to say it, you are my hero and i love you ❤
Return to Castle Wolfenstein had an AMAZING multiplayer that felt far ahead of its time.
I just finished another play through of Medal of Honor trilogy last month. I still remember how I was shocked when I first saw Omaha beach on my dad's new computer back in 2004. The graphics is outdated by today's standard for sure, but that sentiment, that nostalgia, I can feel them every time, and that is irreplaceable by any latest-gen-ray-tracing-frame-generation titles.
I'm brazilian and hardware prices are steep here. I recently built a rig with i7 3770, 16GB of RAM, RX 580 8GB, 500W Seasonic PSU and 1TB Nvme SSD. I'm having a blast playing Fallout Tale of Two Wastelands (a mod that seamlessly merges Fallout 3 and Nee Vegas into a single game and playthrough, beyond amazing), Age of Empires 2 DE, classic 3D era GTA games with mods like widescreen fix and 60FPS frame limiter, good old Frictional Games like Amnesia and Penumbra series, PS1 and PS2 emulators, MechWarrior clássics, good old Task Force games, Far Cry series, Battlefield 2... so good to play these gems. And it runs modern games like BeamNG Drive and others like a breeze.
You've got a sub. Keep up the great work!
FEAR is such a golden standard. Its also on sale on Steam right now for 0.99¢ USD
Fear 2 better
@@VineUrsul said absolutely no one
@@kawaiidestruktor7809um yes people say that ? i totally get why people like 1 more tho
@@kawaiidestruktor7809Nah. FEAR 2 is better both aesthetically and gameplay wise. FEAR 1 aesthetic is just too "fantasy" and gameplay wise it doesn't age better FEAR 2 or Half Life 1-2
Lets just say FEAR 2 was the last playable version of the game and then we are still in the realm of reality...
So many charming games. We're very lucky to have been kids in that era. Unlike today, with a 10 year wait between titles and microtransactions.
Somehow, less is better - even though games in the day were far more hardware and software limited, they had so much soul and devs seemingly put more effort into creating meaninful single player experiences - instead of slapping together a mess at release, and fixing it along the way. This applies even to DOS era games, so much soul and effort was put into them.
We were the lucky ones, the kids today are missing out.
back when games actually were fun
Hahaha! True bro
Nah not really
Pirates is such a fun game. Still worth replaying 20 years later.
I remember times when my PC was so slow it couldn't play Vice City more than 15 FPS. I was happy that times, actually
Love these kind of videos. Well done and thank you for posting.
Empire earth is one of my favorites. Still do occasional LAN parties with my brothers over 20 years later
Screamer 4x4 was an unbelievably great game, very underrated. Never got the popularity it deserved. Many things were simulated such as hi/lo range and diff lock it was very technical
Dark messiah of might and magic is a fantastic game. Its odd getting used to the controls but once you figure it out you are in for one of the best experiences in pc gaming history. Arkane studios used to be legendary.
Old games will always hit different
When you needed 128 mb of ram and 700 mb of disk space to run games. It feels so long ago.
Soldier of Fortune 1 and 2 are one of the best fps games i played off al time.
Yeah they were awesome!
MOH:AA - still the GOAT.
Despite having not played many of these if all of them, there is still palpable nostalgia, and for some reason, it’s even more prominent with the games that have 3D graphics, but maybe that’s just how my mindset sees nostalgia.
Glad to see someone else remembers NOLF . Wish it could come back...
the fact that each game just consumes mb 1|10 of entire firefox/chrome tab ram which is whole pc ram at the time is insane to think of nowdays
Clive Barker' Undying is an excellent shooter with an an awesome atmosphere, 100% recommend
Never heard of this game before but the gameplay and graphics immediately reminded me of nosferatu the wrath of Malachi game. I looked it up and it turns out nosferatu game was inspired from Clive game. I always smirked when my friends said they played the scariest game like doom 3, dead space etc. After nosferatu I considered them adventure games.
FEAR at that time was unbelievable
and now on
It still stands up even today, ngl
I would have added Worms Armageddon, Age of Empires II and Need For Speed Underground there.
Here is a whole generation of our childhood not just a games. Having PC back then in my country was very expensive and not every kid had a PC. So we used to play in Internet Cafe a lot.
i would suggest adding the release year to the notes
thanks for reminding me of the "Clive Barker's Undying"

HALF LIFE MENTIONED 🔥🔥🗣🗣
WHAT THE F/CK IS THE NUMBER THAT COMES AFTER 2 ?
In Pro/TOCA Race Driver, the racing mechanic was good enough, the in-car steering view was super, the story was engaging, and the car damages were amazing! I especially liked the car damages in this game. The later Race Driver games were good too but this first one was a gem. Thank you, Codemasters! 😎
These games bring back so many memories for me since I played most of them in my childhood. I wish I could go back to those simpler times.
I'm sorry but do we realise how unoptimized nowadays' games are? Decent 3D graphics back in the day with not even 1GB of RAM and a bad CPU, and nowadays most games can crash even with a $2k PC.
A kid is when you search for old games because your PC can't handle new ones.
An adult is when you search for old game because you tried the new ones and know old games are better.
To me the most low end pc nostalgia memory I have is playing American Mc Gee Bad Day LA.
Whenever these lists show MOHAA, it always hits that nostalgia sweet spot. It's just that iconic.
I played with pretty much everything in this video but the games at 1:44 2:42 4:28 9:28 where the most played games from my childhood, and also Gothic 1 and 2 , morrowind, arx fatalis, mafia 1 and No one lives forever but they are not listed here.
Great video as always and thank you for the nostalgia! You're the best 😁
i had a lot of these games when i was younger, my dad introduced me to Pirates, Commandos. My brother was a massive fan of Diablo 1 & 2 Good memories as a Kid
Return To Castle Wolfenstein oh boy I loved that game so much
Still the best Wolfenstein-game to this day.
Undying , Soldier of Fortune, AvP, MOHAA, RTC Wolfenstein, Serious Sam, F.E.A.R - these games are still with me today and i like to play them every now and then to take a snapshot of the past. I would also add: Kiss Psycho Circus, Heavy Metal FAKK 2, CoD WW2 and Clive Barker's Jericho. Oooops - I forgot about S. W. Jedi Outcast.😐
I think the golden age of PC games was between 1990 and 2005 im glad i was a kid/teen in the right time to experience it fully
From Doom and x-com to Far cry and everything in between. All the classics.
Yes, absolutely. The only games that are worth playing nowadays are some indie games that replicate the style and the creativeness of those times. You can forfet about triple A.
Sim city 3000 - still haven't seen a satisfying redo of that, just... sad attempts with too much coddling lol
the most of these games are still better to me than the modern ones
TES IV Oblivion
Fallout 1/Fallout 2/Fallout New Vegas
Manhunt
Dead Space (OG)
Overlord
I expected to see
Total Overdose
Oni
Spellforce - Order of Phoenix
Cossacks - Back to war
Global Operations
Hard Truck - 18 wheels of stells
Day of the dead
Half-life
And the list goes on
Counter Strike, Doom, Enclave, Дальнобойщики... Ни одного Need for Speed?? +
Nox, Gothic, Duke Nukem 3D HD, Test Drive Unlimited, Halo и тд.
Disciples 2: Gallean's Return and Zeus: Master of Olympus were my childhood games. Good old times...
Thank you for the good Nostalgia!
⭐️ Medal of Honor - Allied Assault
Oh wow! My PC can finally run these now! Also, Dark Messiah was truly an hidden gem. Glad Arkane made success with Dishonored and Prey x)
I have gaming PC, but I am attached to my low end Laptop Having great time with it. 😅
Some oldies that I think should be here (I'm adding a few from the 90s though): Sacrifice (2000), Deus Ex (2000), Doom I, II and the expansions, MDK (1997), MDK 2 (2000), The Need for Speed: Special Edition (1996), Diablo (1997), Duke Nukem 3D (1996), Half-Life (1998), Half-Life 2 (2004) and episodes, Age of Empires (1997), Age of Empires II (1999). But you got some good ones in there.
Dungeon Siege 2 was such a banger.
I think I replayed it like 4 times.
The difference between Far Cry 1 and 2 is gigantic, Ubisofts effort back then, can truly be seen until today, thats why I'm still playin. No wonder only FC1 could fit in low end.
1:04 Call of Duty Red Square
6:10 Played thru VTMB getting out of junior year back in May, 2023. One of the best games I've ever played. I was hooked. I explored every nook and cranny and was impressed by the dialogue and animations. Really wish this game would get a faithful remaster.
4:26 Return to Castle Wolfenstein is still awsome. I play through it at least once a year
I remember my mate having this at the time and playing it online. Was unreal!
in my childhood there was also Gothic 1,2 and 3 but mostly 1 and 2
I played Clive Barker's Undying years ago on a friend's PC and then forgot its name, spent some time trying to find out what it was based on my limited exposure, then gave up a few years ago. Seeing the brief clip of it here was all it took for me to recognize it, so thanks for helping me find what I had forgotten.
Far Cry was the best shit back in 2004, along with GTA San Andreas!
The sniper village level in medal of honor allied assault is one of the best fps levels in history! Made so paranoid
Loved old MoH games, too bad they're no more, even the last one from 2010 was very good for its time. Short, but very good.
The funny thing is that I recently bought a powerful laptop and I mainly play 20+ year old games on it like Rome TW, HoMM3 and AoE2 😂.
I bought an MSI gaming laptop for chrismas With 16GB RAM, a 12th Gen Intel i5, and an RTX4050 with 6GB of VRAM, the newest game i played on it was Warcraft III and UT99, i was an Xbox gamer for so long it's nice to revisit these gems, especially strategy games.
Don't forget Czech legends - Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven (Mafia I), Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis (& Resistance DLC), Vietcong. Good old memories...
Add Original War
And Skeldal Gates 1 (Brany Skeldalu 1)
Duuudeee what a list!! Xpand Rally, Strarsky&Hutch, Raven Shield, Fear
nice video and i'm happy to see people adding more cool entries to the list on the comments.
Wolfenstein, Fear, freedom fighters and Rome total war were great 🤘🏽
This reminds me searching on youtube lists of "best 512mb ram games" and ect.
Old race games has still better dmg model than new ones
it depends on which games
@@Gameplayicu There isnt a Race Game that comes close to DTM Race Driver 3
@@Baulistar Initially I was going to say the same as the video uploader (who is partially right) but then you mention Toca 3... man, I remember speeding like hell on a monocoque and ramming another car... THE WHEELS WENT OUT FLYING XD the damage model of that game is amazing
This is cool! Can we still play these on a modern gaming PC? My favorite genre is FPS and I saw a lot of cool ones here that I've never played before, like "No one lives forever", "Far Cry", etc., I wonder if they are on steam?
For Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, you used the wrong cover image (Blood Hunt) and didn't mention the full name. There's also a Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, so this might be confusing to those who aren't aware.
Back then when I read your channel banner, I wonder it would never happen lol...
Now time changed!
Everyone it's true just be patience it will happen 👊!
I'm glad you read it, and that wish came true. Maybe if we expand the text.. we could make that happen too! 😁
1602 AD and Diablo hit the nostalgia for me
(Open) Transport Tycoon Deluxe - OpenTTD would also be a good entry on the list
I had only got 4 titles from this list (Empire Earth, Prince of Persia, Far Cry and Midtown Madness), and I want to say we miss some masterpiece of my childhood like Omikron the Nomad Soul, Sacrifice, Hidden and Dangerous 2, and the first Harry Potter games.
Soldier of fortune 1 and 2, rome total war, far cry, serious sam, max payne and 2, gta 3 and vice city...still play some of these oldies ncoz new games just dont scratch the same feeling
Muchas gracias por este fantástico video. Menuda nostalgia me acabas de desbloquear. Un saludo!
Gothic, TES 3 Morrowind, Call of duty 1, Championship snowbording 2004, Quake 3 Arena, Shade, 007: Night fier, Dungeon lords, Divinity 2: Ego draconis, Settlers 2 and HOMM V
)))
No one live forever - my first shooter game
most of these games had better and edgier ideas and mechanics than modern "safe and inclusive" products
despite all the flaws, it's always a much more interesting experience with high replay value
I still play almost all of these games to this day😁👍
Mini Ninjas is such an underrated game
Hell yeah Empire Earth at the end. Some games that also come to my mind are El Matador, Command & Conquer Generals, Cossacks, Age of Mythology
Cossacks fuck yeaaaah
For Vampire Masquerade I believe you used the system requirements from the game "Bloodhunt:Vampire masquerade" Those system reqs are a bit too modern for that game lol.
Rome: Total War and Sid Meier's: Pirates! are timeless games.
Funny how I watch some of these games and think "wait, that one isn't really old" just because it's 3-4 years younger :) I mean, between 2000 and 2004 games evolved MASSIVELY
By the way, OP, try out Revolt - it's a great racing game!
What about C&C Generals?
Had soooo much fun with friends on LAN Parties...
Don't worry, this isn't a top list. If something isn't on the "list," it's not because it's not a good game or because I don't consider it one. This video is part of a series, and I don't want to keep showing the same games all the time.
Far Cry 1 and Far Cry 2 - very good games too
where is a Gothic/Gothic2? Fallout and Fallout2? StarCraft?
Please don't ask questions like "Where is XYZ game?" because this is not a top list. However, you can make a suggestion, and I'll include it in the next part
ARMA 2 definetly was absolutely amazing for its time
sweet Jesus the transition in 1:10 blew me
Carmageddon was another cool one.
Amazing
Soldier Of Fortune 2 was my shit a long time ago, remember how hard was for me to run it sometimes because I didn't have graphics in that time, just my Pentium 4 and 512mb of RAM
Nice one man. Keep the good work 😊
Thanx! 🤗
I still play my older games. Tbh, i play them more than i do with the newer games that we get today.
I remember playing the delta force series to death. I LOVED doing the mission in egypt where you could go through the pyramids
i soooo wish they'd remaster Empire Earth!
Remind me of a bunch of PC game CDs laying in my bedroom drawer, collecting dust.... Maybe I should bring them back to the table and try playing a few. Dark Messiah looks interesting. Never finish Max Payne trilology. AoE and several 2.5D sprite games remain gold til today.
Omg sacred is a hidden jem tbh, few talks about it but is my favourite Diablo clone
No matter how new and good recent games are, I always liked the old ones far more
live for speed was so good at its time - the father of simracers
and still in (slow) development.
I never grew out of these graphics :)
Star Wars knights of the old republic, HEROES 3, Vampires the Masquerade Bloodnes- the BEEEST, BEST OF THE BEST
Project I.G.I
Iron Storm
Rush for Berlin
Full Spectrum Warrior
SW Empire at War
Age of Empires
Hidden and Dangerous
Terrorist Takedown
Mortyr
Thief II The Metal Age
Battlestrike
Uber Soldier
And many, many more.... Ach... I feel so old... :(
2 games missing for me, 1) the hell in vietnam and 2) half life
