This boss really taught me a lot. I ran Plasma blade / piledriver on the left, Plasma cannon right shoulder and laser shotgun right arm. I had a lot of trouble at first but this boss taught me to be relentless in my offense and to never let up or let the boss breathe. I'm really enjoying this playstle with a fast and light biped. This game is awesome. I can't wait to unlock some more weapons. I'm hooked on double melee with speed. I haven't tried a raw firepower double trigger build or a tank build yet because I've enjoyed the melee and boosting so much.
@@kevo300 I don't understand why people keep saying this? I've tried this multiple times on those two bosses (on PS5) and, particularly the Jugg, you just get knocked off as soon as it moves? May or may not take damage too?
For me I've been using dual Zimmermans + dual Gatling gun. Just let the Zimmermans reload on your back, and swap to fire as soon as they finish reloading. Gatling guns also cool off while stowed. This setup got me through the whole game, to NG++
There are many set ups that trivialize the game. But yeah, songbirds in particular are pretty disgustingly OP. Game is kinda easy tbh once you get the hang of it.
One thing to note is, if you use Gatling you might not get an S-rank depending on the mission and it's allowances. Gatling costs a LOT in ammunition costs.
I'm pretty sure the Nachtreiher arms are overused for any automatic fire build like -gatlings- or assault rifles. (Nevermind gatlings are barely affected, carry on) The recoil control stat, which is highest on the Wrecker arms, seems way more important to land more bullets on enemies. It's easier to notice the difference when using a smaller automatic weapon like a machine gun. Of course mileage may vary based on distance, speed and other stuff, but always recommending nachtreiher may not be the best route. (They are definitely best in slot with single-shot weapons like shotguns though)
Recoil control takes a fraction of a second to kick in after each shot, Gatlings’ fire rate is too high to get any benefit from it. It’s really noticeable with dual pistols or SMGs, but even then you can usually get away with balancing RC and FS. It’s easy to test how much RC you need by shooting a wall and swapping arms in the AC Test area.
@@vietnamabc2290 It doesnt really need to. Gatlings are a short to low-mid range weapon, and any enemy who gives you trouble to hit them with these, is just too fast to keep up with anyway. Which only a handfull of enemies in the game are.
i love you Songbirds, in my playthrough the Songbird carry is so real. this was another boss i felt that Dual Pistol worked well for, the low damage didnt matter with consistant stuns into pilebunks, but you're right its way more risk
The main thing is just that the gats and songbirds probably shouldn't be an immediate chapter 2 unlock lol. Dual gats and songbirds can handle everything up to chapter 4 but then fall off pretty hard due to enemies learning how to dodge. So they should be a chapter 4 unlock imo
I've had great success with your Balteus boss build, but not so much with this current Sea Spider. I'd like to note that this video is dated Sept 6 2023. There has been a patch that came out October 5 2023 that messes with a few parameters. (Patch 1.03.1) Maybe it's my technique but I couldn't get her done. The Songbirds were de-powered, the Legs lost AP, the FCS losses close range assist.. I did manage to beat it with a similar build, just not as easy as you did.
I used the plasma rifle and the bazooka that is specialised for direct hit damage. Plasma launcher on shoulder and the ten cell missile launcher. Having a lot of fun with these bosses! I don’t want the game to end :( Been years since I enjoyed a game this much!
A fast lightweight reversedjoined leg build, fluegel boosters and a big enough generator, to be able to stay in the air. The 3rd dimension allows to avoid lots of damages in this fight. 2 plasmas rifles and 2 missiles, were great. i used a good generator for energy weapons.
It's honestly not hard to beat if you either use double shoulder-mounted explosives like songbirds, or use the pile bunker. With both, it's easy money. I took a solid couple of hours to beat it my first time around, but I refused to change my build and had basically no stagger (energy shotguns and stuff). So I had to constantly dodge around it up close without being able to do enough damage, and I actually finished it off that time with punches after my main weapons ran out of ammo! Then I came back to it with a pile bunker, Zimmerman shotguns, and missiles. Absolutely destroyed it, but you have to be careful in phase 2 that you don't get caught without boost on the ground.
Dual gatlings/quad legs/songbirds (then stun needles) basically broke the whole game for me. Now that I am in NG+ I am trying more builds, but still come back to it occasionally.
Tank build w/ dual Songbirds + Gats is how I defeated him after 12-14 attempts. Quad would have been a smarter choice, but I was still able to somehow maintain aerial supremacy w/ tank.
I finished the game three times with tetra legs, double stun needles and double gattling guns, assault armor, and the biggest coral generator to hover almost infinitely, did not feel the need to look for anything else.
I ended up using dual songbirds on my first clear. Basic shotgun in one hand, gatling in the other. The biped legs I had didn't quite have the mass for dual gatlings.
my first play through i did do something like this but i just used a biped with good jump stat, and a thrust with good vertical lift so i could get a reverse joint effect with minimal energy strain and just got right on top of his face and started shredding him while he could do nothing about it
I did the first phase almost flawless with a reverse joint light weight build with double handguns, a bazooka and the pile bunker. I just kept drifting around it while shooting my handguns and shoving the pile bunker when it was staggered. Sadly the second phase was a pain and I barely survived after god knows how many tries.
I forgot to mention in my comment below that the gatling guns would overheat before I could stagger the enemy. I ended up using dual DF-BA-06 Xuan-Ge bazookas instead.
Tetrapod with melander arms and head with VP Core and Dual Songbird and napalm is nasty because napalm has huge dps on staggered i dound it very strong with the flying stage
Well then, that's almost the same build as my quad! Lovingly named "Dreadnought" as a reference to another game with many-legged explosive projectile spewing monsters with a really nasty close range bite. Different arms legs and head, though.
@oroboro, have you seen the busted lightweight dual handguns+laser dagger build? It kills bosses in record time (killed ibis in literally 10 seconds) and its just funny
Got it on my second go with this method, and that's only because I can't get across that bridge without taking lots of damage so I had no repair kits left. So when I reapawned with full health and repair kits, I got it on my first go.
There's a nifty little stealth section you can take in the beginning where you jump down a maintenance shaft that then leads you to underneath the bridge. Great way to go if you're looking to A or S rank on replay 😊
I just notiched that there are some ledges at the sides above some rusty dark grey rectangles. I wonder if I could have stood on them instead of hovering
It’s not breaking the game you’re just using the best build for the job. I did this build with a heavy biped and it took a little more skill with dodging but it worked in the end.
Oh shit the ending of this just made me realize I must've skipped an entire boss bc one of the missions I did in chapter 3 I thought meant there was a decision to make in the mission, not that the decision was choosing which mission to do, so I chose the other and unintentionally skipped the Cataphract. Unlucky. At least I know I'll be replaying it because of the endings and new missions/parts.
This was a b***h to do. Everyone recommended tank and tetras and honestly I had a rough time with those. I ended up just using rockets, the plasma rifles because they are OP and a reverse leg build and had a easier time. Getting to him was a pain too. BUT I found a cheese dick route. You can go under the bridge and jump on these support beams as you go. Couldn't get the timing on the space laser right at all.

Cool, I'm sick of fighting this thing. Goddamn damage sponge bosses. EDIT: Okay just tried it 5 times and it doesn't work. Exact same loadout yet I can't do nearly as much damage. Either way I can't kill it. Guess I'm off to look for a completely foolproof strategy.
i used double gatling and songbirds for every mission and finished all 3 playthroughs. it's a shame i remember in acfa u could go full damage and any gen on any build without any restriction to ac5 which was treble and better game in ac6 but can never get that fell i got from acfa with second staging and ease of boost controls

Terminal Armor = trash. Expansion that have one use and you can't even trigger it manually is SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE than any of others. The depression the Sea Spider felt when I blew it out of the sky with my tank build.
It hates dual, shoulder-mounted laser cannons.
Explosives in general work pretty well against it. Big tub of hitbox for the usually slow rockets to hit.
Only work well to stagger, it has very high explosion resistance. It's weak to kinetic hence the effectiveness of gattling
Just jump on top of it as it takes off. Tons of free damage before you fall off.
