I gave this guy a pretty solid attempt on my own and got him to like 50% health at best and decided to look up this vid. Even with this build and know his attacks better it still took me another 15-20 tries. Insane how difficult they have managed to make these bosses in this game

Terminal Armor allows you to survive the blade spin attack. So long you have one or two repairs remaining otherwise it will leave you at 1 hp which is very suboptimal

I was about to comment this, Terminal Armor is so damned good. Saves you from all 1 shot mechanics which is great, 1hp does suck though. I do wish they added some sort of OS tuning for number of med kits though because the repair rate upgrade is a joke when your med kits are capped.

I'm a vet of literally all the old games (at least the US releases) and I've been loving the flexibility of refitting between attempts. Going through a hard hitting gauntlet against a load of small, nimble craft before fighting a huge boss was always a pain bc there were no checkpoints. I already have like 8 variations and constantly swap parts, especially when the boss isn't as susceptible to the same damage types. Packing one weapon that's either nearly useless against initial enemies or has very limited ammo sucked in the old games. (Kinda wished the supply sherpa could let you use change weapons at least so I wouldn't have to die to change loadouts 😅)

  • @KyXnline

I wanna add: I believe he can mix up his cannon and fire it 2-3 times. It really helps to add vertical movement into the dodges, make sure you're ascending or descending because dodging it on the ground *sucks*
And don't underestimate the small lasers either. They DESTROY your stagger meter.
If like me a big focus of your build was melee, the pile driver weapon does a good chunk and huge impact when charged. Once he's in the orange (maybe a little below) a charged pile-driver melee staggers him. (the raw stagger is about half his bar). Pretty easy to land after he melees and you can usually get a 2nd off during stun. Also super easy to hit when he first goes into the air.

My lightweight build wrecked this spider drone thing in 3 tries.

@@DeathMetalThrasher just goes to show how different everyone plays. One of my favorite aspects of fromsoftware games is their adaptability to different play styles. I’m the worst at tank builds. I need speed, range, and agility, all of which tanks are terrible at usually. If I don’t get hit, I don’t need the extra tankiness. May make the combat last longer, but it gets the job done all the same.

Bosses in this game have this uncanny ability to beat me before I can even learn anything. Unlike From Software's Souls games, I don't really get that feeling that I'm getting better when I fight them. I just feel like I don't have the right build, ever. You'd think a game without i-frames would have better telegraphy for its attacks. I'll be honest, I love the game but the combat in this game feels like it was made with i-frames at some point in development and they changed their minds without altering the fundamental design. *EDIT: That said, once I've gotten better at the game, I have gotten good enough to beat this boss with almost any setup from learning how to slide under him to avoid attacks, so I'm not entirely right here. There is room for growth it just happens as you play the game, not just on the fight itself.*

When you can be forced to use all your heals within the first 15 seconds of the fight it takes a lot longer to learn. Builds too. In souls you can do everything with whatever you want really and it doesn't add that much difficulty but in AC if you have the wrong build for that fight its something else entirely.

If you’re still struggling, here’s what i used to melt him (build is at the bottom)
First stage: stay on him, like “touching him” close and stagger him with the songbirds, the closer you are the easier it is to stagger
Keep firing your gatling at all times, if you circle around his abdomen (below his legs) he’ll almost never land a hit on you, just learn to dodge the pounce attacks thats it
Second stage: hover next to him, again really close and use the songbirds to stagger and keep firing your gatling, its really that simple
Pro tip: during the 2nd phase, when you stagger him, go down to the ground, recharge your EN, use your gatling guns to do damage, then go back up to stagger him with the songbirds

Careful about the transition, theres a period where SEA spider is immune to damage. I beat him with the armory upgrade + tetrapod legs + antienergy parts + sword + piledriver+shotgun+ 8 vertical missiles.
The key to the build is that a charged piledriver will CHUNK the spider for like 1/6th of his health when staggered. It is the king of the DPS race. If you kick often, keep at close+mid range, you can stagger him pretty reliably. Don't be afraid to pildrive him early, as it does a lot of stagger damage and will probably be off cooldown by the time you've staggered him with your other weapons.
Also, the spider seems to have a weakness at the very top of his armor, so my best runs where ones where I stayed close+above him. It also easier to dodge his lasers if you can just fly over him.

The timing window for the fireball is so telegraphed, you will see the cannon flash a red square and in a split second you need to dodge.
The horizontal laser you will see his cannon look sideways, fly as high as you can once you see that because he'll never shoot that up too high. It also tells you the height the laser will be and you just need to stay away on that height but sometimes his laser goes diagonal so be careful.

That was extremely helpful. I was able to manage it in two tries without changing my build after your explanation. I actually found that staying somewhat close did it for me, any time it powered it's laser I boosted towards/under it which was fool proof. Before your explanation I never even got to stage 2. Also I actually let it hit me with the spin attack just so I could see it for myself, still survived and beat it that run. BTW I found the balteus fight to be very learnable with a pulse blade and pulse gun build. I just kept the pressure on him and the attacks with orbs of homing missiles are very dodgable if you keep boosting around him in a circle up close.

So I've noticed in stage one that its charged laser attacks have a tell. For the laser attack that sweeps from one side to the other, it will turn or keep its cannon to the wide while charging. For the down to up laser cannon shot, it will charge the cannon and keep it trained on you as you strafe. Hope this helps!

got an s rank going full Schnider reverse joint with duel shotguns, plasma missiles, pile bunker, and terminal armor, the speed and jumping lets you avoid his phase 1 melee and plasma blasts while the shotguns and missiles (along with the occasional kick) to stagger it, followed up with the charged pile bunker for damage. Phase 2, you will want to get in close with the shotguns to build up stagger but, make sure you have energy to fly for when he uses his big attacks. especially the spinning blades. Thankfully his second phase stays staggered/ vulnerable longer so it is possible to get two charged punches before his defense resets.

  • @estoylaroca
    @estoylaroca Год назад

Tetra legs really avoid a lot of his attacks.
    I used tetra legs + shield + 2 bombs.
3 bombs put him into red, and use that time to go back down and regen EN.
When he's not on red, you just fly a medium distance away from the ground, and you basically dodge all the hard hitters.
For the laser, just use the shield, it literally gives u a fuck ton of leeway to mitigate a lot of the damage, like a full second.
Big thing to do is to *WAIT* until he's not moving a lot to drop the bombs.
Usually u just fly above him and u just shield the lazers, and he's ez game.
For the 2nd phase, flying with the tetra legs basically dodges a lot of the ground attacks.
Shield for the melee flying thing.
    Yea, that's that.

Thanks for the guide, I was stuck on this for a few hours. First time I tried your loadout I got pretty close and lost to his arial attacks at teh end. But a couple more tries and bam.
Also, a small suggestion. Because we know he is coming, it's possible to cheese him and charge shoulder guns while he opens from his egg. When he sets down, hit him, then continue.

  • @ryand.3858

As a player that runs a medium to light AC this guy was kind of a challenge. I didn’t really have the right kind of weapons for the fight so I relied on the melee attack quite a bit.
It’s actually a pretty effective tactic if you’re good at evading since you do a little dash forward when the attack is initiated and it acts like a quick dodge.
If you have lots of boost I suggest staying on top of him while he’s flying around in the second phase.
Overall I probably died about 25 times before I developed the right strategy. This is one of those bosses that forces you to get better at the game.

I had a strange experience with this boss. Finding myself unable to dodge much of his attacks (skill issue lol), I found myself having a much easier time up close to him, usually slightly in the air. Using the ten-cell forward missiles, the eight-cell vertical missiles, a big exploding bazooka in my right hand, and the Lazer blade, I bum rushed him constantly, firing off all my missiles (and bazooka) in waves as they locked on and became available, I got up close with him and nailed him with the charged Lazer blade, use assault armor, and did that to get myself through his earlier phase. Once he started to fly, I realized I had a problem with my somewhat heavy bipedal mech. I tried tetrapod legs, but eventually settled on the reverse joint set, lightening my ac frame parts to eek out enough load to keep my weapon setup. The fight was very rough, but I eventually pulled it off, somehow.

I got the Vvc's, then a thunder bomb missile launcher I don't remember the name of, and the Pile Bunker weapon from the trailer. I was running a light frame, so I initiated the ambush while charging the Vvc's, took two dashes back, then unleashed the shots during the entrance animation. Hovered in the air until it decided on a move to use, then started zip zapping around trying to avoid the piercing strikes.
The only moves that caught me on a regular basis were the horizontal sweep laser and the spinning top in phase 2. Both remedied by good energy management and staying in the air.
By the way, any move in phase 2 was a oneshot, my build was NOT optimized for bad players(me)

    I've noticed something odd.
That's actually been an interesting tactic used by developers.
When I was fighting Balteus..I couldn't for the life of me get past him. So, I did some mission repeats, did arenas. Got logs, got good ranks on missions ( B and up)
And then Balteus was easy to beat.
I just encountered the same scenario with the sea spider.
Like the game purposely will work against you till you fulfill what it wants.
Seriously..next time you encounter a problem look at these following things.
You can't quick boost when you need it to.
Weapons take a bit longer to reload.
    Tracking takes longer to lock.
Boss seeming has the perfect combo exactly at the right time.

So I finally beat this boss with a similar setup. I used Song Birds for my should weapons. They are easier to use, more damage, and stagger the boss faster than the laser canons. Also, if you just circle strafe point blank on the boss, the majority of his range attacks don't target you. You still have to pay attention to the wide beam attacks though and fly above them. Otherwise all you have to worry about is the pincer legs. After that, the remaining phases are easy peasy. Just fly in the air and shoot him as much as you can. He was significantly harder for me to kill compared to the previous bosses which took 1-10 times before I got them. Even Balteus only took about 10 times before I got it. This stupid sea spider took me about 20 times ugh.

Everything else was the same like his build. I didn't even realise the was an actual boss it felt more like a mini boss until I realised how much people struggle with that. I don't know how to explain it but the sea spider in this video seems kind of.... Tame... there is a LOT more time between its attacks than there is when I fight it. it will literally do the fireball laser and then while I am recoiling immediately pounce on me giving me no opening to dodge. It could all be in my head I admit but none of the fights have been as telegraphed as this one seems to be.

here's a tip for folk: if you want to spam the heavier weapons rather than wait for an opening, use tank legs
for this fight they're as mobile as you need to be, so you can spam more and stancr break much faster (which for this fight you need to stance break as much as possible)
having an extra 6000+ AP more than other legs doesn't hurt, either
