    • @TheOmniverse1
      @TheOmniverse1 10 месяцев назад +4

      It can be a number a reasons.
      It could be perhaps that it's too similar to Pirahna Plant Slide.
      It could be that 2 Pirahna Plant Tracks (Cove & Pipeline) could be too redundant in 1 Wave.
      But I think that the most likely reason of all is that the Anti-Gravity Mechanics, if the track were to be utilized as a Anti-Gravity majority track, have not be tweaked for 360 degree areas like the inside and outside of cylindercal areas like pipes.
      As Albert Boris once said, maybe when Nintendo tried to implement Pirahna Plant Pipeline into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, things got a bit to way too janky for the track to be played in.
      So with Nintendo in need of a track and it probably being too late to tweak anything to make Pirahna Plant Pipeline playable, they chose an enitrely different track.
      Case in point, 3DS Rosalina's Ice World.
      A possible sad case of "Close, but no cigar." for what is basically, for now, the only Mario Kart Tour-exclusive course (aside from the RMX courses, as well as Trick, Reverse, and Reverse Trick variants of all courses).
      But of course, I could be wrong on all that.
      All in all, if anything, if Nintendo still wants to preserve Pirahna Plant Pipeline, I believe thet're likely going to save it for the next Mario Kart installment for the next Nintendo console.

    Here's the thing: Nintendo will never please everybody, unless they put every single track of every game into one game. I think Pipeline being cut is more of a shame because it will be stuck in Tour until maybe the next game, beyond that, I don't think is much of a lost.
    MK8D is essentially a "everybody is here" for Mario Kart now and the next game will struggle a lot in pleasing the fans, because a lot will be missing.

      So Pipeline has a similar feel yet Ice World doesn't? Not only are there multiple other winter tracks in the game, but this one isn't even that unique. If anything, it's just Sherbet Land again but with the Comet Observatory in the background. Pipeline isn't even super similar to Piranha Plant Slide, outside of the fact that they are both pipe themed courses and have "Piranha Plant" in the title (which, btw, the Japanese name translates to "Pipe Canyon", which fits so much better and the English was most likely a mistranslation).

    I remember seeing someone say on a piranha plant pipeline mod video asking for antigrav, an mk8 modder said that it wouldn't be possible due to how mk8's antigrav works. I'm guessing that in the next Mario Kart game they could overhaul the antigrav system so that a full 360 degree pipe would be possible to drive around.

    • @Polley001_
      @Polley001_ 10 месяцев назад +6

      Pipeline would've had anti-grav anyway because anti-grav keeps you from flying off the ground which would stop you from hitting your head on the pipe at the start of the course (something Koopa Cape also does). It's really dumb how no custom tracks have added anti-grav yet simply because it can't be 360°.

  • @SB2749
    @SB2749 10 месяцев назад +14

    Chances are they got rid of it because it worked jankily in MK8. Maybe by the next game it'll have a remake that plays (and looks) better, especially since by then they likely won't have another retro Piranha Plant track for it to possibly overlap

  • @UltraZapdos
    @UltraZapdos 10 месяцев назад +5

    I honestly am glad we didn't get Pipeline. Not a bad track, but I would not have been a fan of having the two Pirhana Plant tracks in the same wave, plus it's too similar to Slide from 3DS. It is kind of odd that we didn't get it though, but I will gladly take another 3DS track.

  • @uraveragemariogamesenjoyer
    @uraveragemariogamesenjoyer 10 месяцев назад +2

    I’m really happy that Nintendo is adding 3DS Rosalina’s Ice World for wave 6, though Piranha Plant Pipeline would’ve been a cool track to add as well. However, I can understand why it didn’t make it to the BCP: -It would have been indeed weird to have 2 Piranha Plant related tracks in wave 6.
    -Being a sort of sequel to 3DS Piranha Plant Slide, Nintendo could have possibly thought that the track was way too similar to it for them to include it.
    -Or (probably the most logical reason behind the change) the track was well indeed planned for the last wave of the BCP, but then something went wrong, forcing Nintendo to change the track.
    Another reason could also be the difficulty of porting the track over from MKT, because of the crazy camera angles this track has. Needless to say though that I’m sure that this track will come back in the next Mario Kart game, or the next BCP (if Nintendo decides to do so, which I think, is probably unlikely).

  • @rustyshackleford234
    @rustyshackleford234 10 месяцев назад +3

    My personal theory is that it was originally planned to be in the BCP, but when the devs pulled it into MK8 from tour they noticed how janky and buggy it was, and that it wouldn’t work properly in MK8’s physics. So they scrapped it and replaced it with Rosalina’s ice world.

  • @Polley001_

    It's because of marketing as a whole. Pipeline isn't new, Pipeline conflicts with Cove and Pipeline isn't as interesting as any of the other non-cities. They instead prioritized a marketable Wii course and a course perfect for the Winter season. People will blame jank but that stuff is majorly overblown and I mean technical issues didn't stop Sunset Wilds now did they. Marketing has been a visibly major factor in BCP's track picks since Wave 1 had a major focus on Coconut Mall and Pipeline's exclusion is no exception.

      @F7jin I've seen Pipeline custom tracks, and yes they're a little janky but not even remotely to the point where they'd realistically scrap it for that. Hell the only issue I consider massive with current Pipeline custom tracks is that drivers can hit their head on the pipe upon entering it which they've already shown with Cape can be easily fixed by just adding in anti-grav to that section.

    I agree with your theory that Daisy Circuit replaced Piranha Plant Pipeline to put it simply:
    The canceled nitro assuming it was planned, was replaced by Moonview Highway.
    This in turn, filled Mushroom Bridge’s niche and was ultimately canceled despite being originally planned, so they replaced Mushroom Bridge with Rosalina’s Ice World.
    Late into development, Piranha Plant Pipeline may not have functioned well as originally believed thus Daisy Circuit was brought back which was simpler to bring back than Dry Dry Ruins making this the true last minute decision track in the DLC, minus Moonview Highway and Rosalina’s Ice World which also originally may not have been planned.
    Before the final prefixes are revealed Wednesday night, I believe these will be the final prefixes:
    Rome Avanti is cnsw_51 and Madrid Drive is cnsw_54 or vice versa
    Mushroom Bridge was originally cnsw_56 but was instead replaced with Rosalina’s Ice World
    Bowser’s Castle 3 is cnsw_57
    Piranha Plant Cove is cnsw_64
    DK Mountain is cnsw_66
    Piranha Plant Pipeline was originally cnsw_67 but was instead replaced with Daisy Circuit
    And Wii Rainbow Road is cnsw_68

  • @CherryfulValentine

    Daisy Circuit replacing Pipeline makes a lot more sense now upon really thinking it over. Usually when they do a showcase of the Waves, they always tease the new wave with a Tour Nitro (Only exception to this was Wave 1 but that was because it had Coconut Mall and the meme probably played into it being the first one shown). Wave 2 had Sky High Sundae, Wave 3 had Merry Mountain, Wave 4 had Yoshi's Island, and Wave 5 had Squeaky Clean Sprint. So to then have Wave 6 get teased with Daisy Circuit instead of the usual Nitro, it felt odd. But now that you said that it replaced Pipeline, it now puts the missing piece to this otherwise weird puzzle of why Daisy Circuit was chosen to tease Wave 6 rather than something like Cove (Which you if you ask me they should've done but oh well).

    My guess is that Pipeline might have issues with the camera for Mario Kart 8 and it would look pretty much janky for this course. When you think about it, Pipeline felt like it was made just before Nintendo said that they're done with the nitros and Mario Kart Tour is ending new content in a few months. You do remember that we were originally going to have 3 Nitros and 2 GCNs in Wave 6 originally, and when you look at it now... Pipeline was destined to be the new N64 Wario Stadium of Mario Kart. The theme is too similar to 3DS Piranha Plant Slide/Pipeway, Piranha Plant Cove already exists and is the better of the two nitros and when you think about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, jank would practically be the word to describe Pipeline. The physics in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is drastically different to Tours, especially with the halfpipes and the cameras. Based off the prefix leak, Wave 6 was clearly the wave that didn't get prepared for the GCN Waluigi Stadium mishap. Luckily the courses they had as backups were a couple of fan favourites from the Wii (cause that game is over-represented) and an underrated gem of 3DS Rosalina's Ice World which felt perfect as a surprise course. A surprise that people will slowly appreciate... just like Rosalina herself being quite slow to warm up to around others.
    Would it have been different? Yes. Am I sad that Pipeline got the cut? Yes and No. Do I like 3DS Rosalina's Ice World? Yes. I played Mario Kart 7 during my 2 years at college on the old classic 3DS.

    the camera angle in pipeline is really awkward as well as some of the elements to the track like the shaking pipe.

    Personally, I think that Piranha Plant Pipeline was added to Tour just to give us that scrapped DS track, but not to be part of BCP
    Perhaps it was hard to program, the half pipe zone (literal half pipe, not like the blue stripe but the pipe in the half) had potential for anti gravity, but maybe it was too hard
    I'm just guessing, I never liked the track, only its music and the clear pipe, beyond that, I don't like it, but I'm sorry for its fans

    Theory-- What if we get a Mario Kart Ultimate for the Switch 2 which includes every course made? In this case theyre currently remaking every course, using Tour models for most, thus why the courses look better each wave: theyre all being improved and improved for a future release. This would explain how a course like Piranha Plant Pipeline, and many fan favorites, didn't make it; theyre saving them for the new game. The BCP and Tour can act as a way to affectively make up for the high costs of making the game (buying the BCP now and full ultimate later would cost $85 -- more likely to pay for the BCP and then full game later instead of paying $85 all at once).

    I agree with Albert Boris tbh, at least I think it was him who said that he thought it was because they tried to add it, but it was janky, which makes sense, especially since my theory originally was that piranha plant pipeline was gonna be the one track that's made with anti-gravity, or at least proper anti gravity rather than just one slope or something having it, but that probably didn't work out too well with how the track is designed, which would also make sense to why it's only that track, it was one of the later ones so they wouldn't have known it would be janky, and wouldn't have also replaced the other tour tracks as there was nothing wrong with them, plus, with everyone hated sunset wilds, and that was just broken visually, I don't think people would like a track that's broken gameplay wise lol, tho that's just a theory of course, there's not really any way to prove it, and I do agree it is strange they didn't include it if it was for a different reason and is kinda sad too

    My theory here is that Pipeline wasn't playing as well in 8 Deluxe's engine as Nintendo hoped for, with wonky camera angles and problems with half-pipes and anti-gravity, so they had to pick a course to replace it with.
    I believe Rosalina's Ice World was the replacement for the 4th GCN course, and Daisy Circuit is the replacement for Piranha Plant Pipeline.
    It's the least interesting course of the Wave, so they chucked it into the teaser to get it out of the way, and for Wii pandering.
    Plus, why else would Daisy Circuit look significantly less polished than the rest of Wave 6? Could it be because it replaced a planned Tour course and the devs were crunched for time to polish Daisy Circuit up for the September Direct Teaser?
    Edit: Guess I should've watched the video before writing the theory down, because wow, mine is basically the same as yours.

    I think they will for the main 4 retro tracks have 2 SNES, 1 N64, 2 GBA, 2 GCN, 2 DS, 2 Wii, 2 3DS, and 2 from the MK8 since I feel like it would be WiiU but it is also on the Switch so the prefix is hard to figure out but that leaves 15/16 non repeat tracks so I think that one was to be the last one needed since the 4 base extra tracks was a mix and if they have the same amount of cups as the BCP, those ones would be the fan favorites that probably hasn’t been used over two times. Maybe have the RMX but they do not look as good as the originals or as memorable.

    Here's what I think:
    1. The name and theme has nothing to do with the cancellation. We have 5 Rainbow Roads in the game, and the Japenese name translates to "Pipe Canyon" meaning that the English name was most likely just a mistranslation.
    2. The main reason for its cancellation is that it just didn't work with 8DX's mechanics. The only way to get it to work is to change the layout, which is too much to do with the time they had, meaning it'll probably be in the next game.
    3. I agree with the theory that Daisy Circuit replaced it. Ice World looked too finished to be done last minute, and we already had a Wii track in this wave. That also answers why they picked that over something actually interesting like Airship Fortress or Luigi's Mansion as they needed a simple course they could just reuse a lot of assets on. Personally, I would've preferred them to do Mushroom Bridge and just swap Ice World and DK Mountain's spots, but maybe that's just me.
    4. This is more on the topic of Ice World, but I still question why they chose that one when they could've brought back Airship Fortress or Luigi's Mansion. Ice World isn't a bad choice by any means, but it doesn't really have anything that makes it stand out unlike one of the two I mentioned.

    I don't agree with this, not your argument but Nintendo's logic. If they didn't want two piranha plant tracks in the same wave, why didn't cove come sooner, or better yet, why name a track that has very little to do with piranha plants aesthetically after them? It's the same way I look at Sunset Wilds: if the lighting engine doesn't allow light changes (therefore mimic sunsets as you complete laps), why ad the track which its main gimmick is to change lighting?
    It's just baffling to me and it bothers me as well how only 1 Tour track doesn't make an appearance in the whole pass. Oh, and Daisy Circuit possibly being the one that replaced PP Pipeline is also annoying on top of that because I'm sick of the Wii pandering.
