Glad to see you back using this Mark, I know you love tinkering with rigs as do I. I published my own “complicated” popup rig recently in Carpology, I’m sure many people will dismiss them, but they are missing out. They follow and don’t pioneer. Let’s face it, my rig requires a Snell Whipping Knot and yours requires a crimp and granny knot, the average angler is now used to clipping a hook onto a QC swivel and that is as far as their skills allow. The art of rig tying is a rare thing in modern day carping. Long live the rig tinkerers I say! Ps, I haven’t been for 18 months, however I am out there again soon, and the freezer is full up with Royal Marine ;-) be lucky. JP.
Hi James, yes mate, its a bit fiddly to tie and doesn't follow fashion as much but as you know rigs are personal, this one is bloody effective also. I seen your rig and had a little smile to myself, I thought that crafty Parry knows his onions. Hope you get out soon James and hope you catch a biggie mate! All the best.
Just looking back at this video and smiling about how many negative comments there are on how over complicated this rig is. The way Mark has shown it I would say its fairly uncomplicated and straight forward to tie. Extending the hook does really give those carp a problem to deal with when trying to eject an item they have sucked in. I will definitely be giving this rig a try. Off to France shortly on a water with very large carp that are very riggy, I know I've been done a few times on previous trips. Think this might just trip up one of those whackers. Thanks for sharing Mark
Nice rig! I noticed this rig from one your first video's on RUclips I think, did tie it a couple of years ago, but havent had the chance to test it yet. I geuss now is a good time as ever.
Hi mark very interesting rig can see that working open water over a spread of boilies quick question do you crush down the crimp on the hook section or leave it as you are folding the mouthtrap at the right angle.
Thats what i wondered as well, he didn't crush the crimp in the video but maybe he left that part out. I would imagine you should crimp it tight. Will definitely have to try this out
by far, the most versatile rig around never had a bad hook hold simple to make and use in any situation in my eyes it's the perfect Rig , also apart from hook change i think I've made 10 in 2 and a half years and possibly 4 of them was because I was bored 😂😂😂
Well done Bryan on the rig great rig give it try let you has when looks deadly pick up rod on that day unless flying of pick it up bag fish chips Nice fish give it a go
Yes because there is a swivel but no because it isn’t directly onto the hook, so therefore personally I wouldn’t think it would count as a version of the 360/Ronnie rig
What micro swivels are you using for this? Just tied a couple up with size 12 Gardner covert and 25lb mouth trap and the overhand knot can pass through the swivel under tension.
I've fished for carp since the 80s and the amount of wonder rigs that I've seen and read about in the mags and social media is laughable.the deadliest rig is the rig placed on feeding fish untangled with a needle sharp hook...
@@pokesuprise1069 to be fair the noodle rig is just a bull shit name given by scott lloyd to a longstanding plain rig with just a little bit longer shrink tube, when most carpers back 20 years + ago ,when adding the tube to a hook ,it would be common to use long pieces, back then, its nothing new, its just come full circle, and now given a name by someone to claim it
Seems brave of you to trust a big fish to the hope of the overhand knot, not pulling through the eye of that swivel.. I'm sure it has worked before, but I personally wouldn't trust that.
TBH when I saw it at the beginning my first thought was, how has he attached the mouthtrap to the boom.. then when he said its just an overahnd knot I screwed up my face and made a sucking sound, much like a dodgey mechanic does when he looks at your car.. not a fan of trusting that knot...
@@BaitworksTV Wow, Hi mark! great fan of your work and thanks for the reply! I hear you about the knot but my stupid brain still doenst like it.. The ultimate rig takes some beating mate, for sure. This one tho has a place in my box when fishing for big carp over a spread of boliiles it's deadly.
@@BaitworksTV I spose being from Essex and using terminology like that is a bit misleading lol. It just looks, shall we say, mind boggling. My head can't process that knot holding the hook section, staying there, while playing a carp but maybe I should tie one up and try first.

Had great success with this 👌
Looks a very good rig for the big girls will give it a go on the elphicks North lake very soon!
Great rig for big carp mate, give it a go you'll be surprised how effective it is in the right situation.

I think I will sit and make one up and will try it, all be it very cautiously !
Looks interesting, I shall have to try it on one rod, thanks,
Originally see this with a tungsten bead bedded up against the knot to stop the swivel eye going over it .
That looks bang on ... will be tying one tomorrow and fish with it for my last night of the session (need to try this one)
Great rig mate in the right situation mate, give it a go.

@@TommyDeCleenCarpAngler Any luck with it?
I like the knockers, means more fish for the innovative to catch😁👍🏼
Hi mark brilliant video. would this rig work without the crimp? would that add even more movement. Thanks
Yes mate sure will
Whats the lenght of the front section from the eye of the hook to the crimp? Thanks Dennis
Looks interesting, it’s got to be worth a try.

Is this suitable for casting distance too?
Totally fine mate
The stiffer the rig very difficult to eject but also more difficult to get into the mouth in the 1st place.
Well done Bryan on the rig great rig give it try let you has when looks deadly pick up rod on that day unless flying of pick it up bag fish chips Nice fish give it a go
Wtf....
Mark , could you not tie this with a chod style hook end and then with the swivel the other end ?
Yes course mate, I've just found it works better like this over the years.
The complete opposite view to Simon Crow who only uses long braided hook links.
Catch them on anything really !
Whatever your confident in Dave for sure!
When kinking/ bending/ pinching the stiff boom material does it weaken the material at all..? Risking loosing fish possibly..?
Not at all Ben as the stiff bristle bit s doubled up so its around 50lb breaking strain.
Its a retake on the old spinner/360 rig that is banned in some quarters so be careful if your going to try this rig.
Size 11 mate is the one you need, the smallest one in the range.
Look up power swivels size 12 60lb b/s or 14 45lb b/s both work
Did you leave that crimp lose on the hook section or squeeze it down tight?
squeezed it mate, just to hold it in place.
Do you close the crimp on the Mouthtrap ?
Yes mate, you got it.
Great rig!!!! 👍
What swivel is that you’re using Mark ?
Is it a Korda micro swivel with a ring cut off ?
Its just the smallest swivel they do mate, size 11 I think.

Hi Mark. What’s the length of the mouth trap x
I like around 3-4 inches mate
Its like the pimped up Big Rig.
Praying Mantis Rig ! Looks so good 😮 Big Carp Watch out ?
Great!!! Thanks!!! ✌️✌️✌️!!!
how much weed you got in that film canister?
Very interesting that!!💪🎣
Is this a wafter only rig?
I prefer to use with a wafter mate to help set the rig, cheers
Im worried about the pressure on the knot against the swivel...but obviously mark knows what he s on about 🎣
Never had it go mate. totally reliable.
No worries. It won't break. Tested it several times myself by pulling to the maximum....
Swivel never slipped, trust it m8 ;)
Could you use this rig in France?TIA
Like it!
No need to complicate rigs. You've only got to follow the late John Wison. He said it as it was and told you all you ever need to know.
Indeed, but sometimes you need another string to your bow to get a tricky one to slip up!

Fu.....g nice!!!!✊✊✊
Stiff multi rig, almost identical mechanically and a lot easier/faster to tie :)

Looks like a more complicated noodle to me 🤔
Some of the same principles but I came up with this back in 2009 to use with stiff materials.
To be fair looks like it has more movement than the noodle 👍👍

Good lord that looks hideous. The only thing keeping the hook section on is the knot against the swivel?
Interesting rig, but hate multi style rigs incase you do get done & your d ends up non existent & the bait by the hook eye, ie not fishing.
