I don’t know what I was expecting but urine was not one of them😂 love your vids! I just finished anatomy 1 and the eye was so interesting to me! Never thought i’d enjoy it as much as I did.
Thanks Doc. I really appreciate you having the courage to mention urine. Once in my teens ,when traveling with my family, I got a very severe case of conjunctivitis. An older local 'wise woman' whom my mum's friend knew recommended the remedy of my own urine, under some notion that it could 'burn' out the infection. My mum thought it was brilliant (???). I thought they had all lost it and absolutely refused! I don't recall being taken to the hospital clinic, but i must have been because it cleared up in a week or so and I do recall medicine from a tube having to be put in my eye regularly. Even now I can't imagine what came over my mum who was normally so sensible!
There are a few sunscreens that are non-migratory. I hate when sunscreen gets in my eyes! I use Skinceuticals and EltaMD and both are great and don't drip in to your eyes. Also, Super goop makes this really cool eye shadow cream which is actually just tinted sunscreen. I did a video on it, but never posted it. Figured I'd wait until summer to post it.
Ummmmmm.... I had NO IDEA THAT URINE IN THE EYE WAS SO DANGEROUS! I will be honest, I was told by a friend that you use your OWN urine!!!! My goodness! Again, I'm so so glad to have found you! I used to wear black circle lens before I knew how bad it was for your eyes... because I like that deep black iris color look. I have one brown eye and one hazel brown eye, but they are lighter brown color compared to most Asians.

@@DrRupaWong I went for an eye check and the ophthalmologist said my meibomian glands is producing oil but the oil is clumping/solidifying on my lids and not flowing down. Hi Aravind! There is not a need to use coconut oil as an eye drop. I discuss coconut oil in the eye in this video - ruclips.net/video/F_VQTN_HZO0/видео.html start watching around five minutes.
Great question, Teri! I will work on a video to answer your question thoroughly. Usually, though, it is treated with eye drops and antibiotics. Thanks for your comment.
@@DrRupaWong Thanks so much! I had the afternoon off so I binged on your videos. I love your thoroughness - Be careful with wood eyeliner pencils - they can scratch. Don't wear magnetic lashes in an MRI. - Things most people wouldn't think of. 😊
That actually happened to me when I was about 15 years old but I did not let my friend wear my contact lenses she stole my contacts and I didn't know that she had wore them and I got this really nasty almost blinding and infection. I'm in Chicago so I had to go to "the eye ears nose and throat clinic" and I ended up having to have surgery and I was out of school for almost a year and a half and the pain after the surgery was so excruciating...... and then I ended up having to go back for a follow up it was just terrible. So the friend wore my contacts she did not tell me and she did not change the solution, she put the contacts back in the same solution and I did not know and I ended up taking the contacts out and I put them in my eyes because she ended up slipping the contacts back in my drawer where I kept all my personal stuff in my room and so I ended up putting the contacts back in my eyes and I say maybe a week after that my eye started itching really bad and then it got really pink and then my my grandma took me to the doctor and our family doctor you thought it was just the pink eye and like two weeks after that my whole eye flipped inside out it was pus it was just nasty it looked like something from a horror movie. I had to get surgery, I was really scared because one of the the optometrist told me that my eye wouldn't fully heal for maybe two and a half years and to be careful. I had to go to optometrist for at least 5 years straight after that and she was telling me after my eye healed to just cleanse it with baby shampoo, but yeah it is terrible like really listen to this doctor because she knows exactly what she's talking about, people wearing your contacts whether you give them permission or not is dangerous you can catch AIDS, you can catch hepatitis, you can catch all type of diseases and luckily for me I did not contract any disease.... I did have a really really bad infection but you know it could have went worse than that you know you can probably lose your life you know if your body can't fight off the infection, luckily mines was able to fight off the infection with the surgery and antibiotics that I was on for almost a year and a half. So yeah it's scary and people are not your friends if they steal your stuff from you especially stealing personal items like that and then not letting you know and putting them back like she could have caused me to be blind, but I'm not blind I'm very blessed that I'm not!
What an absolutely terrifying situation. I can't believe that happened to you - I'm so sorry. But, extremely thankful that your eye recovered. That was extremely dangerous for her to and I hope she knows better now. Thank you for sharing your story - I know it will help many!
