My experience is that chempejacks are superior to jackfruit. Slightly stronger flavour, less latex and can be opened easier. Superior all round.

Paul I remember when you planted that tree and you have invested the time to see it produce! I would have a hard time getting to decide to cutting it out since none of us know how long we have to live, sometimes we pick fruits way too early and the fruit are usually harder than fully ripe! So if you get rid of it please try to find someone who could fig it out and give it a second chance

Here in Sri Lanka we have it for lunch before it ripens when it's seasoned we cut the pulp in to large peices and boil it and have it with a coconut chutney...
This ripe one can be eaten with a bit of pepper and salt.
The seeds can be boiled or even fried.
The younger fruits can be cooked like a beef curry. All sri lankan recepies r found in youtube.

Good but still not as good as a pure cempedak. I used to a be a huge fan of jackfruit until I found cempedak, and then eventually marang, which to me is the perfect artocarpus fruit. Cheena still a good fruit and worth growing. Cheers

by looking at the peel/rind or skin, if the “eyes” / spindle is small, pointy (compacted) with concave form under that area most likely have too much rags rather than bulb/the meat. flat&large spindo with an convex overall surface is predicted under is full of bulbs
