Mallorca, like most of Albéniz's works originally written for piano, has surprisingly become better known in transcriptions for classical guitar. Mallorca is a Balearic island in the Mediterranean belonging to Spain, and through this piece one can easily imagine a mysterious and beautiful island with a Moorish influence. Albéniz chose a Barcarolle to convey the sounds of the sea, with its calm, measured rhythm describing the gentle waters that bathe its shores.

Je me suis mis un peu plus au luth de mon côté, c'est cool mais je me passe pas mal de temps à m'accorder 🤣. oui je joue encore sur la boutin épinette. jaime mieux la touche que le son.j'ai une Patrick Mailloux aussi mais c'est le contraire j'aime mieux le son que la touche.On peut voir sur tes vidéos que la guitare en cèdre sonne vraiment tr;es bien à mon avis beaucoup plus que celle en épînette.bon c'est mon opinion.Avec le cèdre ca groove.Je trouve que tu as beaucoup progressé.J'espère que la santé bonne.Au plaisir de se revoir....
@@jean-pierregobeil Je ne savais pas que tu avais une Mailloux! Cèdre ou Épinette? Traditionnelle ou Double-table? J'ai vu il vend maintenant des guitares à l'international! Du côté de mes épinettes je joue sur 3 différentes dans mes vidéos mais j'en ai mis 2 en vente. Je garde juste ma Lissarrague épinette; pour celle en cèdre dans le vidéo j'ai pensé la vendre puis finalement je garde😁. À bientôt!

Well done Antoine. I first heard this as a kid in 1968 and was 'blown away' by it's beauty. The guitarist was Alirio Diaz playing a Ramirez. I knew nothing about the classical guitar back then; I was only a beginner; still am.
Thanks a lot Allan! Yes, it's probably the most interesting piece that we can play on guitar amongst Albéniz pieces; Granada is great too. This version is based mostly on Julian Bream's rendition.

Et oui, je trouve que Granada, Mallorca, Sevilla et les autres sonnent toutes mieux à la guitare qu'au piano; Albéniz a vraiment réussi à sublimer l'essence de la guitare espagnole à travers son oeuvre sans même jouer de cet instrument!

Lovely playing Antoine. On my phone (sorry, I should listen on proper speakers) the sound of your strings is quite metallic, almost like steel strings - is the cause your strings (eg, are they carbon instead of nylon?) or is it your recording equipment (treble response or the mics or something) or processing? As regards your expressions I reckon you are lucky that you smile rather than look tortured, as Julian Bream does (and l do!). Keep smiling! Well done!
Many Thanks Conall! And you are right about the strings, those are La Bella Vivace HT( carbon strings). Combining these strings on this double top guitar results in a slightly more metallic sound. Thanks again and have a nice week-end, 🙂
NIcely played, but honestly, I find the facial expressions distracting. I like your interpretations, and technique is great. It's probably just me, but what does the constant smiling add?
Hello Jerry, thank you for your comment! Regarding facial expressions, it's just like that when I play; I grimace when it's difficult or I smile when it's easier or fun to play. I don't think it adds anything and usually it's not particularly well-regarded or accepted in academic classical music circles... but this is how I play.
