A friend has one and from what it seems they don't have finger print issues. Maybe on the back without a case? Or if you tend to have oily hands. Also they don't have a case and im not sure how long they have had it but it has scratches on the screen that may be a bother while reading, so I would definitely invest in a case. So it has coverage when you aren't using it. It seems very sturdy so I'd say it's more for screen protection than anything.
I love your voice. I hope your Kindle works better than mine. I bought the same model a few years ago and it permanently froze up after using it for a year making it an expensive paper weight. There is no reset option to unfreeze the screen. It's permanently stuck on a splash screen. I think it might have been a corrupted book file that caused the problem.

My Paperwhite battery has gone really bad and has never been as good as they claim. Now it is draining in a short time even when the Kindle hasn't been used ( I updated it manually as it wouldn't do it itself, there are no books stuck indexing and it is always in aeroplane mode unless downloading books / updating). I haven't even used it that often since I bought it 2.5 years ago. I won't buy another I don't think, unless they reduce the price considerably.
Yes, content downloaded can be read when off line. Go to "Home" - towards the top left corner you will see ALL and DOWNLOADED. If you go to ALL, you can select the three vertical dots next to a listing and select download. Once the book is downloaded you will see a little checkmark.

And then it goes back to the same page where it says use existing or create new. Why is it doing this. Do I need to change settings in my account ???
Kindle is an Amazon device. You’d have to have an Amazon account to buy a kindle. I use my kindle to read library books through Libby, but I transfer the books to kindle through Amazon for reading.
There's a tiny button on the bottom (near the usb port). Hold the button down until a pop-up window appears. Select the desired option - turn screen off, restart, etc.
