    Please do a video on Chronic Lyme. Most people don't know how bad it actually can be. So many people end up bedbound and disabled from it. The CDC is of no help despite hundreds of great peer reviewed journals on the persistence of Borrelia. Also Bartonella, Babesia, Anaplasma, Ehlrichia, and others are very common that gets transmitted along with the Borrelia which makes it harder to get rid of. Thanks for another good video.

    Dr. Berg, I have a 50 acre farm in Northern NH and I have about 30 chickens that are pastured on the property. Every time I harvest one of my birds, I always wonder why they don’t get ticks ON them like my larger livestock. I have never found a tick attached to a turkey or a chicken from my flocks. I also raised some guinea hens and for the first time this year and they spend all day looking for ticks to eat. I haven’t found a single tick on my property all year. You are entirely correct about borrelia bacteria (cause of Lyme disease) being transmitted before 36 hours - the reality is the bacteria are transferred from the tick to the human MUCH sooner than that - some anecdotal and/or individual disease transmission cases have occurred when ticks were removed within just a few hours.

  • @brendashelonko2149
    @brendashelonko2149 3 года назад +1

    The 36 hour tick attachment time for transmission to humans is misleading. It’s an old statistic from limited studies that has become a truism. The major problem is that the blood tests for Lyme are old and highly fallible. The CDC has estimated that they miss 45% of infections. This would therefore apply to the attachment time studies.
    In real life, attached ticks are often not noticed for hours or days. And they are often removed incorrectly, causing premature regurgitation.
    Unfortunately, the claim that the tick must be attached for 36 hours is so widely believed that most doctors will not prescribe antibiotics early after a reported tick attachment.

    • @richardhenry4730
      @richardhenry4730 3 года назад

      I wholeheartedly agree, Brenda - the notion that ticks take "hours" to transmit the borrelia bacteria is a social injustice of magnificent proportions - it is not true. A tick can transmit the Lyme-causing bacteria within the first several hours. Published medical studies (for instance, Dr. Cook's) have debunked this widespread misconception and yet, it sadly remains.

    I so appreciate your videos Dr. Berg. I think it's important though to tell viewers that there are other tick borne illnesses a tick can be carrying (like babesia, anaplasma, bartonella etc.) It would be easy for one to think that as long as the tick hasn't been on for more than x amount of time they are disease free. They may not have Lyme disease, but they could have one of these others diseases and it's important for prompt treatment so it doesn't become a chronic situation. While the testing can be complicated in humans (many false negatives) it is easier in ticks, so I will save a tick that has bitten me or a family member and mail it in for testing (I like the company Ticknology...they test for multiple diseases for $35). Anyways, I felt compelled to say something as someone who had suffered many years with undiagnosed tick borne illnesses. Your videos are always so informative and timely. Thanks! -Leigh

    I saw a cool video a while back where a homesteading family had a minor infestation of stink bugs. They segregated their chickens so they could feed stink bugs to one group and prevent the other group from eating any.
    The eggs from the group that ate the stink bugs tasted better.

    Could you please please please share more about chicken health? All chicken issues: sour crop, parasites such as:chicken lice, mites(all types including scaly leg), just any and every avian related diease and also if there’s potentially any type of “chicken type” of covid for chickens or any type of animal. I know there is a big die off of wild birds on the east coast and they have warned us here in California to not have bird fountains available. Kind of hard when you have chickens and need to have food and water available at all times. Biggest concern for me right now is wanting to get my girls as healthy as I can to give them ivemevtrin drops to get rid of either they are mites or lice. I tradedically over dosed the first time and I feel at fault for two of my hens deaths. Hadn’t cried so much in my life going to cry now thinking about them. But I feel they were so weak for having been affected by the lice that when I gave them the drops it could had created too much parasite death and potentially not knowing if they had other parasites internally it could had overtaxed their poor bodies. I know you mentioned in one of your videos if humans have parasites they should start to take I believe bile salts? To get there liver primed up to detox? I might have screwed that up and I need to rewatch but if you could share anything else you know starting even with the small stuff which is really the big stuff in regards to all the parts and functions I would be so grateful. Another thing I noticed is ever since I gave them the ivermectin they make this scream sound when they push they lay their egg. I never heard it before and they are all bread and various ages. Not sure if ivemectrin releases a lot of calcium(I think that’s how it works? With the calcium channels resulting in paraloof of the parasites?). But what’s sad is after all that the lice never really stopped and died and they are losing weight and noticed some chickens feet are turning purple guessing from anemia. Oh another thing I would like to ask if you could share any info on the Grubs that are sold as treats. My girls go CRAZY for them but I don’t want to make them sick if they aren’t good for them. Also I read recently that giving chickens earth worms and snails can be bad because the worms inside them can grow in the chickens?? Is that true or would the explanation here also apply to this types of creatures?(stomach acid etc) ok hopefully didn’t scare you off with all the inquiries. But having your teach those interested in children health would be such a dream. You’re already the BEST in human health but sharing about my “kids” lol health would be amazing.

    One of the most critical information about the keto diet is that keto impairs the body’s burning system, which is active with a greater consumption of carbohydrates, and when it is completely prevented, the body reduces the secretion of hormones that help to burn, so the body becomes less able to burn calories. And stores it as fat directly, please reply to this

    A child with Gierke disease, I have been trying to do research on this. I don't understand why doctors don't believe keto would help with this. Their body can't store Glycogen, so why wouldn't it be better for them to run on ketones.

    Wouldn't be surprised if all of the wild ground dwelling birds are the same. Grouse, Guinea fowl, Turkeys even ducks and geese eat anything found on the ground. I think the reason we have rising numbers of Lyme cases, is because we have de-populated so many predators of the ticks that they are able to flourish. We see the same in Australia where so many predators of mice died in the bush fires, the mice population exploded. It's like invasive species that thrive without natural predators, or an immune system that isn't robust or is run down enough to recognize or fight an invader.

    I got bit years ago on the armpit. Didn't get a rash but a few days later my joints started stiffening. Went to a doctor with the tick in a baggie. He put me on amoxicillin which helped. The only thing I notice & wonder about it that armpit has a different feel to it/ always slightly swollen. Is there an association even after several years? This tick by the way was a baby tick, very tiny.

      I don't know the answer to that but I never liked their chicken much personally. Although I don't think their chicken is terrible, I simply find it lacks flavor and just tastes rather dry. Which Costco location are you buying from?
