  • 2022 Ford Maverick XLT review by The Straight Pipes. The 22 Maverick is putting down 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque from a 2.0L 4 cylinder Ecoboost Engine. At $37,655 CAD, would you take it over the Honda Ridgeline, Hyundai Santa Cruz, Ford Ranger or Ford F-150?

Ford Maverick has a major design FLAW. If you have a child, you will definitely put car seat at the back. Having a one big slab of seat going up before you can access the storage is definitely a big issue. With the competition, Hyundai Santa Cruz has 60/40(assuming) split on sit storage, accessing the storage for family user is gonna be a pain in the butt for the Maverick.

Thankfully in Europe we still get the brand new fiesta, focus and Mondeo, s-max and galaxy (s max and galaxy are MPVs, and fiesta and focus have st versions), however the Mondeo is getting discontinued in 2022. Also we won't be getting the maverick or the bronco, However people may import the bronco, but I doubt there is much of a market for the maverick, most would get a diesel ford ranger or Toyota Hilux etc. Which is a proper 4x4 and still achieves 50 mpg

For better or worse in today's market many folks are turned off by "FWD only" - for AWD you have to pony up more money and sign up for worse fuel economy...at that point they decide they can make do without a truck and there are plenty of other options out there.

I love their strategies to first make these smaller truck modestly attractive before they start bringing some muscles into them. *case in point: Expedition came in at 375hp. And now they have just 10 fewer hp than a Raptor. Godzilla is the same way. People laugh at 430hp. 430hp in 1970 meant nobody could touch you. @@chrishaddad5362 yeah, I’m considering that but tbh, I don’t really need any real off-roading capability beyond a smidge of clearance for dirt roads and the truck bed for gear, etc. And maybe to pull an ultralight pop-up camper trailer.
Mostly, I want a fuel-efficient daily driver with the truck form factor. It’s easy to rabbit hole down the what-if trail until you think only a Ford Raptor will be enough. At least, for my brain, anyway.

I stripe my grass every week, the key is to keep your blades sharp, set at 3", and ride your tire inside the line of your outside tire from the last pass. I personally like stander mowers opposed to riding sit down mowers. For smaller yards or anything under 5 acres, a stander is just going to be much faster to get the job done, just jump on and go. I love the new Maverick, i'm glad they took the name back and put it something worth while.

The only thing giving me pause is the possibility of a Maverick Lightning in the near future.

This feels like the old 1970's Toyota and Datsun pickups, and maybe the Subaru Brat. Not heavy duty pickups, but great for a certain group of people. With the potential of over 1000lbs of cargo, this is pretty useful for non-truck people.

I don't really need a truck very often but I'm super tempted by this in general for a quick, AWD vehicle under 30k new. Been pricing them out and its less than $28k for an AWD Ecoboost XLT, about $28 even if you need the tow package. Edit: Yes, lawn stripes if your a good neighbor.

Where I live in rural New England, this truck would be perfect. It works as a very nice, economical daily driver while also being able to haul bags of trash, bikes, kayaks, and mulch.
