The beginning is my favorite part. Straight down into darkness with good speed and turns!! I can't believe more coasters don't have a beginning like the Dipper??
Imagine if going into the tunnel like a does was like an RMC how a lot of those RMCs start with a little bumps and tilts.
This looks awesome, never seen a coaster start like that, always just around a corner to a chain hill
I just rode it today and it was really fun 🤩
Some do, Cyclone at Lakeside Amusement Park, Giant Dipper at Belmont Park, and Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake Park
You.guys.and.gals.should.ride.this.Giant.Dipper.more.often.then
I’m always surprised how well this coaster has aged... probably because they actually take good care of it
It's a national historic landmark. It's protected by the government and the state of California.
@@colinj5291 I’m aware, but it’s still very impressive
Holy crap, that thing looks so smooth! That's probably the best taken care of classic woodie I've ever seen!
Actually it's kind of rough but not horribly as I have been on worse. The video looks so smooth thanks to the HyperSmooth Technology in our camera.
It’s not as smooth as it looks like
I rided it today
Crystal Scott haha really ? I went there today too
Kennywood Fanboy On the smooth to rough scale smooth being a ten rough being a 1 its a 3/10
Almost 100 years old, and this ride still is amazing. You can even get some decent airtime on it, so much fun 👑
Such a classic and good wooden coaster. Love it! :)
The Giant Dipper is a classic old beauty that's also a very fun ride. For some reason, it is much smoother than every other wooden coaster I've ridden, despite the fact that it turns 100 years old this year.
I use to ride this ride and others back in the late 50s and 60s. What memories. Thanks
Me too. I miss the old Wild Mouse that use to be there in the 50's & 60's where the log flume water ride is now!!!! And also use to be a good Mexican restaurant on the main road out on the main street just up from the merry go round building. Use to eat there all the time!!!!! 👍
We have been wanting to come here to film the rides & coasters for so long! Thanks Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for making this possible and working with us. More to come!

who ever found it rock on, because i looked every corner of my eyes. unless its a hidden video just for being a patron then I can see why I didn't see it. but thanks for uploading my friend - keep up the good work
@@ExpressionGaming and to whoever chose the spot! Dang this is hard.
@@kaydub0623 I still can't find it :-/
Mm I am not the only person who can't find it either. AT are you sure you put in the video 😂
@@ExpressionGaming it's still available!
This was my first roller coaster when I was a kid. Still my favorite ride at Santa Cruz
You got it
So true
Enjoy the ride when you go there
I ride it multiple Xs when I go over there I even have a picture of myself doing John Cena s You Can t See Me before I lost my hat and sunglasses
They flew off during the ride
My favorite coaster. Just an absolute classic. And the view, to the right as you go up...
My favorite all time ride! Been riding it since I was big enough!
love this thing so much, honestly more enjoyable than gold striker imo
@SpinosRule I agree. Gold striker feels more rough and violent to me but I love the constant speed of Goldstriker.
You’re absolutely crazy. One’s 100 years old, experimental, and awkwardly shaped, and the other is modern with a masterful layout, tons of airtime, and awesome stats. I don’t like shunning other’s opinions, but again, I think you’re crazy ;).
@@kworkshop I get where you’re coming from, and if both were just Six Flags parking lot coasters I’d more than agree, but most of the fun with Giant Dipper and the Boardwalk for that matter is the atmosphere, and Giant Dipper is a historic ride with incredible views and a gives you a feeling that you just can’t get anywhere else. While it‘s clearly not the better ride from a thrill standpoint I can understand how Kittyhat would find it more enjoyable, especially if they prefer milder rides
The gold striker sucks dude
I went on that coaster today and was holding on for dear life screaming, "WHEN IS THIS GONNA END!?"
LOL
Same
I’m a local to Santa Cruz and I go here every other day. My family always wants me to go on the giant dipper, I’ve never been on it! This video made me feel super confident and so now, tommorow I’m going on! Thank you for making this ride more easy seeming for me!
Did u go on it?
@@w32211 I did! It was very old and jerky. Didn’t like it very much but it was ok.
I grew up in the Bay Area, so we went to this seaside amusement park once or twice every other year. The Big Dipper was always my favorite, but the Wild Mouse was a close second…😂😂
Yup I miss the old wild mouse that was replaced by the water flume ride. Playland at the beach in SF had a old wild mouse ride but it was called Alpine racer. I also remember in the 60's the wooden walkway on the SCBB Giant Dipper was painted a dull green instead of the bright red it has today!
The first turn’s lack of banking really is one of the roughest parts of the ride
I remember being 10, riding that "ten times in a row", and was so sore after mainly due to that first turn. Worth it
my guy this coaster is pretty rough with the turns painful but your camera is insane quality. the ride in this video looks super smooth. nice job
I went 3 days ago an I actually sprained my neck
@@fearme3137 damn
ah yes the giant dipper. i havent been on it since 2005 but its still one of my favorite rides from boardwalk.
brings back lots of good memories! those turns at the top were rough, but lots of great air time and the scenery is awesome
Awesome pov of an awesome wooden coaster.
This ride is amazing I rode it when the sun was setting on the beach and it was beautiful ❤️
This ride can only be fully experienced irl because of how strong the airtime is although it is not portrayed in the POVS
I'm 10 and I went on this a little bit ago(first row seat) it was my first time... it was fun except for the fact I was lifting up😰
That lifting up is called airtime. It is a completely normal and safe thing on roller coasters
I got to go on this ride back in 2013, and it was running really well then. I'd like to go back there at some point and see how it's running now.
I like this ride at Santa Cruz!!!
I'm going to Santa Cruz today! And I'll be riding this! ❤
I have been on this it’s awesome
New hint for the Amazon cash. If you join you may find the answer.
Beautiful classic - I love it!!
i got like 5 night rides on it when i went. its exceptionally smooth for a wooden coaster
ride it tday xD
I can't believe the Dipper is nearly 100 years old
Wow man
Grate video very stable
Keep up the good work.
Thx! Hope your doing well!
I been on this beaut. Its as good as it looks. Defiantly a whole lot bumpier than the vid makes it look. Check it out if you get in santa cruz after the pandemic.
Looks really smooth for a woodie, did it get re tracked?
No still that classic roughness that's the HyperSmooth technology when recording the video so we can get smooth point of view shots.
Best wooden coaster i seen
I rode this and it was so cool!
Nice job you but boost with your stabilization. WHEN I WAS HERE, I FOR GOT ABOUT STABILIZATION!!!!!!!!
Ik this vid was a long time ago but I just wanna say that I’m going there in 3 days
I love this ride me and my dad love it
I’m going soon I’m so excited!
My very first rollercoaster!
Can we get another hint, like a timeframe for around where it is? Or at least timeframes where it would make sense to put it (the code)?
In my top post I had given a hint. Another hint is if you join you may get find your answer.
I went on the one at Belmont park it’s still bumpy:)
0:45 All Aboard!
I can’t wait to go on it
This is a great video! Could I have your permission to use a short portion of this for a video?
They have this exact same ride at San Diego!
The one in SD is a lot bumpier. I've ridden both.
Yes, and the track layout is different than the Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz
This was probably the steal venagance for 1927 coaster enthusiasts
I went on this the beginning scared me so bad
I love it
I rode this and the middle seatbelt was literally falling apart and I almost fell…
Can see me one make a 100% accurate recreation of this in Planet Coaster?
ride was great but be aware the lap bars are terrible only go down a tiny as a 12 yo it sucked so much on all the drops tho still a great ride
That's what gives you that fun airtime!
try the mine drop at gleenwood springs, gr8 ride
I wonder what this thing would be like if it turned into a RMC
When i saw hypersmooth I thought it said hyperspeed lol. Wouldnt make sense
One thing about Santa Carla (Cruz) I never could stomach...
All the damn vampires 😅
I have been on it
i remember going on this twice cause they stopped the car too late so they let us go twice
Lucky, that never happened to me, I had to wait in line again
I cried when i went on this.
Mine went way faster but this is the exact ride
Watch out for vampires....I Still Believe!!
When i got off i had to throw up🤣
Is it bad
@@jalen_wintersyt6344im here today and i was scared at first but in the end i felt excited
This coaster does not look like it goes 55mph.
Lost boys coaster 😂
0:45 🚂
I had a GoPro on me with a GoPro chest mount and they didn’t even allow me to take a video of this ride. I’m disappointed af because usually all the videos I take of rides is to show my dad because he couldn’t go on rides :/
That's a bummer.
Love this place! Just filmed my new music video here “California Gold!”

Let me know what you think!!!

The end is almost as long as the video
I went here before
Can we get a hint lol
It's still available. The clue is this. Look for a lot of text put this video at x0.25 is the best.
@@AttractionSpot just found it. Thanks for the hint!
@@blairw5638 no problem! Glad you found it!
Steam would be a nice e-gift card
Thats a great idea! Cause I know with amazon you cant buy another gift card with a giftcard so its not possible to by steam credit with the amazon credit.
@@AttractionSpot so has anyone found your secret code yet lol, I have yet even at the 0.25 am constantly checking stop go stop go haha
@@ExpressionGaming nope not yet. I'll give you another hint if you join you may find the answer.
@@AttractionSpot I just joined, because you and your channel is deserving to be supported. this is an awesome idea for a channel, including your vlog
@@AttractionSpot curiosity was it on top of the car from your intro if so i saw something but couldn't make out the image. since i just read that girl found it.
😂
Needs the RMC treatment
Won't happen. National Historical Monument. Could be retracted using the RMC box but the layout and reconfiguration would require a lot of red tape clearing.
No way. It's nearly 100 years old. Go RMC Grizzy but leave this thing alone.
"please stow all phones and cameras"
anything to make videos
Remove hats and glasses and keep your hands numbs inside the car remain sealed during the ride again please store all phones and cameras remove hats and glasses and keep your hands and arms inside the car thank you
I rode it 4 times, solid ride but a lot of turns that really yank you across the cart it’s really dark when the cart takes off but it’s a really fun ride you have to be at least “50” to ride but if you have a parent I think “48” is acceptable really fun ride I recommend this ride a lot, it’s so fun 100 years old and not scary although the first time is thrilling you will get used to it, enjoy your time if you ever go to the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk😀😀❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯💯💯💯
