What a superb time capsule! By virtue of the fact this was shot during the 80s, from one of those large camcorders that were contemporary at the time, and represents a youth when visits to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk were far more frequent, this video is true gem. People were far more extroverted, unified and having a great time on the Giant Dipper. The applause that broke out at the end of the ride and the hi-fives from those queuing was a constant occurrence on the Dipper. Even the addition of another train on the track adds to these very fond memories. This is an honest capture of how it was then. People totally loved this ride and intermingled with strangers a lot more. The pendulum will swing back - it has to. Everyone, get rid of those phones and bring the spirit back!

No they can t smoke on the rides. Nobody can. Whoever wants to light up any cigarettes can go to a designated smoking area
