So sorry about your husband's accident, Nik. I hope he is on his way to feeling better. Having to deal with bull pucky car shysters on top of that is mind blowing (I can't believe this whole approach to selling cars hasn't disappeared yet. Thought it was to supposed to). I've been known to simply say "do you want me to buy a car from you...or don't you." Your story is a reminder that we all must be willing to walk away from a sale. I love buying cars, I go with all of my friends to help them out, and my goal is to leave there with the car in an hour. Here are some tips. Pay cash. Get a personal loan, don’t go through the dealer who LOVES to drag such things out FOREVER. Know what you’re going to spend, tell them what you’re going to spend, do your research so you know how much your car is worth, lay it out for the sales person and give them 10 minutes to give you an answer. If they don’t, walk away. I have never had to walk away from a car dealer, they always come running back to me. Your car dealer sounded as if he was involved in “bait and switch.” Mention it the next time, and tell them that that’s fraud and that you’ll report them. Ask the salesman for his name, ask for the manager’s name, ask for the dealership number. That gets them excited.

Very good advice! My hubby is GREAT at the dealership! He doesn't mess around. We are the customer, they need to work with us! There are ALOT more places we can shop for a vehicle! And tell them that. They more than likely won't let you leave without giving you what you want or at least "very" close!!! 🙂

Nov 13 2018 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3 ....you have saved me ....I get cold and can't warm up I've neuraphy in my hands and feet chemo has made it worse.......any whooooo.....you saved me I laugh and cry...happy tears and craft...till I can't no mo!!!! Love you and pleeese we get snow and cold it stays till the 4th of July!!!!!!!!! My family lives in Colorado...I see them quite often....you take care love and hugs to you and your hubby...💕
It was good to see you again Nik. I hope your “orbit” gets back to normal soon. I can relate to the car buying experience. A few years ago my husband wanted to buy the Jeep he’s been wanting. So we went to the dealership, found the one he wanted, spoke with the salesman who spoke to the “brain in charge” to okay the deal. When it got to the payment I pulled out my checkbook and asked for the amount, the guy looked at me like I had all of a sudden grew another nose!! Then came the “you don’t want to finance? We offer very good rates”. Then it was my turn for the crazy look. “Oh hell no! We don’t do debt!! We will be paying cash”. Well that reply sucked the air out of the room! Relieved to hear that your hubby is okay. Sooooooo can relate to the agony of car-shopping. That old 'bait and switch' tactic is not only shady, you're absolutely right: it is also demeaning. And, for the record, didn't think you were whining--venting is different. And if it's in anyway helpful for you to do so here, then it's some teeny, tiny way we can give back, you know? We wait for your videos with great anticipation and in my opinion, you could read the phone book (wait, are there even STILL phone books??) and it would still be a pleasure to spend time with you and the squirrels. Thankfully, my niece, who is a car service manager, helped me decide what make NOT to buy two years ago, as well as how much I should pay for the car we decided to get, and then, over the phone, she negotiated a fair price on the additional insurance we felt we needed.
She actually told the salesman he was a thief, gouging us. She told him what we would pay, and he took it. I’m sure they hate dealing with people who know what they’re doing, but I’m glad those people exist!
When my mom bought her last car, the dealer held her hostage until she signed the papers. I told her if she had called me (at the time, we lived in different states), I would have called the police!
Hang in there. Accidents are always traumatic to one extent or another. Hoping your family’s trauma is short-lived and that you find a satisfactory new vehicle soon! I’m very glad to see you back. 😊

The last four cars I have bought have been from Carvana.com and I love it! It’s just like buying on Amazon & they will bring it to you! You have a whole week to try it out and make sure you like it. They told me “even if your favorite coffee cup doesn’t fit right in the cup holder, just call us before the week is up and we’ll pick it Barack up!” There’s NO HAGGLING - the price is what it is. Hiiiiiiii Nik. Oh, hope your husband is okay. Accidents are such an inconvenience, we know from experience too. Your hair looks so cute. Yes, buying a car at a dealership is huge game. We found a couple nice dealerships that don’t do that. Or you can do what we did one time, I told the sales woman that my husband was very ill and we wanted to get in and out fast and easy or we will walk. It pays to know ahead of time what current interest rates are and what you can qualify for. I say no to what they offer interest wise and do haggle a bit over that. It is a headache inducing event for sure.I always enjoy your videos. Oh, I just watched the one where you did a file folder folio and had the circle and twine closure. Good timing on my part. Thank you for your videos. They are fun and I always learn something. I really like your crafting style.

Nik, I hope your husband is OK. I can relate in 2016 my husband was on his way to work & a car nipped his bumper sending him out of his lane & he basically ping ponged across 3 lanes of traffic & hit the median wall & spun around & then a semi hit him in the drivers side. Yeah. They had to cut the top of the car off to get him out. Amazingly he was not hurt that bad. His angels were working overtime that day. I watch you on RUclips & really have learned so much from you. It will all work out as you know & Thanksgiving will have an extra special meaning this year for you.
You are always a treasure, so don't worry about absence, your hair, telling us how bad its been, etc.! We love spending time with you and enjoy what you have for us. Now, I hope your husband is okay and that you've had a chance to get chapstick and sleep. As for car salesmen, I think some are vestiges of snake oil salesmen with the con game. I'm with you and hate playing their game. Unless the buyer is like uhhhmm, maybe an insurance salesman(?), the buyer is too often inexperienced enough to even try to go toe-to-toe, leaving the process demeaning. Been through a very similar experience from accident to physical therapy, to new vehicle purchase, etc... Have to say, it was so traumatic, both physically and emotionally, especially dealing with the shady driver who caused it all, insurance folks, car salesmen... I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s accident and the loss of his truck. I have had the nasty lying car salesmen before. But I also have had one wonderful salesman after my car was totaled. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and be disappointed by him, but it never happened. Yes, I’m still amazed and pleased! We develop a relationship with our daily transportation. My car, Pearl, (guess what color she is!), has little quirks. Now your hubby will need to develop a new understanding of his next vehicle. Thank you for the freebie! This is a fun project, thank you! Buying a car is worse than getting a root canal! If you are not too far away from Boulder, I would highly recommend Fisher Honda; they treated us well and didn’t play a bunch of mind games with us when we had to replace our car a few years ago. They have an Acura dealership, too. (No financial connections, just felt like they were the best car dealer I have ever dealt with.) Good luck recovering from the wreck and getting back to normal!

Ah Nik thanks for sharing even when you’ve had such a pox of a week! You still make me smile. What is it about used car salesmen? I think it all stems from the horse traders of the past. You remind me of myself, I’m always like you when I’m tired. I’m grateful that your whiny and not quiet because if you are like me when things are really bad I just go silent, that’s when my family start to really worry. Good luck on your hunt for a car.
