It’s sad that Cary Williams of the Ravens intentionally shoved the referee during Super Bowl XLVII and not only was he never ejected, he was not fined or suspended by the league.

The NFL could take a page from the MLB's rulebook -- If a player can't put his hands on an official, an official shouldn't be allowed to put his hands on a player.

If the league makes hefty penalties for guys that shove an official who’s trying to remove them from these altercations, it at least provides a deterrent from that type of shit

I was leaning more towards the instances where someone has a pile of guys on him and he's trying to get up, accidentally pushes a zebra's arm out of the way in the process, NOT knowing it's an official, or brushes the brim of his hat with his hand while raising his arms in celebration. Both of these have happened and both players were ejected for 'making contact with an official.' Break them up, by all means, but don't throw a flag every time one of them bumps you.
