Hey Glenn thanks for supporting smaller builders. I ordered a Ruf custom after seeing it on your channel, and I love it. And the Ruf guys were great to collaborate with.
I second this. I picked up my guitar at NAMM and Glen even played it! I’m happy Glen told them to make a V cause I preordered it immediately. They said my V is the first official production V they’ve made.
If a guitar is made of traditional parts, somebody will make the electric guitar that you want for $2,000 or less. That PRS 10 top in your favorite stain and configuration, $2,000 or less.
@@SpectreSoundStudiosJust curious, when it comes to your back pain, was the chiropractor that fixed it for you by any chance Dr. Gregory Johnson DC (located in Houston TX)?
I mean it sounds fine and is practically indestructible for $100 and there are probably slightly better mics out there for the same price but it’s already popular so everyone uses it
Glenn looking out for union & assembly workers hit me. Yes kids, back in the day we used to listen to cassettes, and they definitely had a tendency to wear out if you listened to them a lot. The real cool people take a rare Squier 7-String from 2001 with dual humbucker layout and do a full no compromise 2.500$ rebuild, including a custom reversed 70´s neck. I can even explain why thats cool. It´s because you know before you are doing it that both communitys, fender and the metal community as well will hate this guitar. Ontop of that you also involve guitar history. So in order to be real cool, you have to know that it is pointless in terms of impressions that it is going to make on the internet. Hey Glenn! I work in an assembly line (kind of, sitting in front of a computer all day and do testing) and i can definitely attest to what you're saying. I feel so tired at the end of the day i barely work on music stuff but watching your videos while working is really enjoyable and helps me learn a few things about guitars, amps, mics and production while passing the time during the 10+ hour shifts. Love your content keep it up!
Looking forward to that series with Wanasek. I think it'll be a great learning experience to see two people do the same mix, what their interpretation of what the end result should sound like, and how they got there. You could do one video comparing both, then do two other videos focusing on each separate mix and go through the workflow explaining the choices made along the way
To the guy asking about bouncing back into the daw through the console. What we did when I was using the Neve Genesys (not black) was to use a patchbay. Patch the output into a stereo (or two monos) input on the interface. Make sure the track you're recording to on the daw is routed to nowhere, ie disabled, no output bus. This is critical to prevent feedback, and daw agnostic. Also note that the output is different to the monitor out (signal going to the studio monitors). I mean you still need to hear stuff.
I worked at the RAM truck plant right across the border and all 4 of my rotation jobs I held some kind of drill so my hands were gripped for 8 hours. I would wake up the next morning and have to use my other hand to push my fingers back as they were stuck in the gripped position. Summers were no joke with no A/C. Thankfully I moved on and work in CNC machining
I know as a guitarist I’m in the Fender crowd, my favorite guitar Jackson model 6 is a strat copy. I’ve never understood the appeal of playing a Les Paul ? Everything about it fights me especially the bound edge on my forearm. Ironically every guitarist I’ve ever worked with played one and endlessly forgave its problems especially tuning stability.
Different strokes. If you learn how to do your own set ups you’ll never have those problems. As for the forearms bevel. The way I play it doesn’t bother me but I understand it does for some folks.
I've always loved strats or super strat shaped guitars but somehow I've ended up with 3 Les Paul shaped guitars in the past few years. I hate the 4 knob controls (I like a single volume and no tone) but other than that there's just something special about them. And I've never had a harder time keeping them in tune than others, but I also do my own setups and repairs.
Thank you for standing up for union workers Glenn. I've been a union organizer for the last 20 years and have seen what bosses are capable of doing .Solidarity isn't just a slogan it's a way life.
i love James Murphy! About 20 years ago I ordered a couple of his solo records but he never sent them. We even emailed back n forth, he was super apologetic but I still never got the CDs lol. I knew he was coming out of a really rough time in his life so I just figured "oh well". Would love to see him on your channel!!!
Hey Glenn, Thanks for the great content! I left a comment wondering where the drum recording tutorials were from a couple of years ago last week and then lo and behold the algorithm put them in my feed. Watched and enjoyed. Don't know how I missed them as I try to see all your videos. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Well said about working on an assembly line. I did it for two years and it was the most mind numbing and one of the most physical jobs I've ever done (and I worked in construction for over five years too). If anybody thinks manual labour is easy then they clearly have never done it. it's as simple as that. Oh and absolutely spot on about the strength in numbers quote too.
Oh man, just remembered I meet and talked to James Murphy outside of Mississippi Nights in St. Louis when Testament was on The Gathering tour, cool dude, down to earth. He was just randomly out and about before the show. We were all standing in line outside waiting to get in. Guess he thought nobody would recognize him.
Glen! You must absolutely positively megadibbly do da DO that Mix idea swap with Joel! What a cool concept and fun set of videos for us viewers! Please do that!!!
About the crashing part at 15:43, couldn't a RAM update (something around 16 to 32GB, even better if it's dual channel - 2x8 or 2x16) solve it? I heard it helps to deal better with having more tracks without issues, but I'm no sound engineer, only a tech enthusiast, and accept the criticism if this question was dumb.
17:05 I’ve heard that the issue is often not the tubes. Before buying new tubes, you should try other solutions first. Maybe the pots need to be cleaned. Maybe it’s a capacitor. Something else.
To 16:42 : I have a Vox AD60VT and i had like no output sound. But sometimes then it workes normaly and then it just went silent again. Went to several people to see if they could figure out whats going on but they couldnt find anything and said all electronics seem to be how it should be. I found somewhere on the interenet that one other person had the same problem and he fixed it by putting a cable just from the loop Out and in to the loop In with nothing inbetween (before there was never anything pluged in). Fixed since then. I dont know why tho... Maybe anyone can explain that to me?
Sadly there are some people working in some unions that really take advantage of the system. In my area, at the Harley D. plant, a lot of people don't work hard at all and expect everything to be handed to them. If they'd have worked as hard as those that I worked with, at a non union plant, for less then half the money, then they'd have something to bitch about. Don't get me wrong, I think unions are fantastic. It's just those few spoiled brats that want everything for nothing. Thanks for all you do. Peace!
Hey Glenn, I remember you switching pickups on you green HB Amarok to Fishman Fluence as Fluff suggested and (I presume) you were quite happy about it. That was before you started the whole "pickups matters little" thing. I'm curious to know if you'd still think the upgrade was worth it and done at the correct priority?
Interesting, never heard of this! Those Amarok's come with EMG Retro Actives, which should be pretty good pickups. Thus changing from good pickups to other brand's good pickups shouldn't make a huge difference... might have a different voicing though 🤷♂ But since we are talking about EMG vs Fishman, about 100% of the time the reason for the switcharooney is "I hate EMG's, Fishman's are so much better"... 🙄 There was actually a comparison here on Tubes that had EMG's and Fishman and others, which I watched and there was indeed a difference in tone with the Fishmans, but was it better? Not in my opinion. It was just a different dominant frequency.
@@MaximusAdonicus I agree, when it comes to those EMGs vs Fishman it's just different voicing. How that fits in a mix will probably require a recording test and side-to-side comparison, which sounds like a lot of work to figure out "If these pickup swaps are worth it?"
I see a lot of people ordering custom guirars for (imho) wrong reasons, super Fancy tops, custom electronics, body shapes, etc. i only have one custom build guitar, its a 94 esp from the german custom shop (back in the 90s esp was actually not so overpriced, even custom orders), the body is a standard alder stock m2 body, black poly finish (for those nitro lovers, that guitar looks like new 30 years later), tge custom part is the neck, not the shape, the whole geometry, fretboard radius, width, etc. i spent a lot of time with the luthier to get the shape perfect for my hands ans playing style. Does it look like a custom shop guitar, hell no, but every time i put my hands on it, it feels home
I got a Gibson Les Paul... the only original hardware in it is 3 pots and the selector switch... my next mod on it is replacing the pots with kill pots.... will probably replace the selector switch too with a blacked out one just to get rid of the last bit of chrome. I also have the Floyd Rose FRX on it... yes, I drilled holes in my $2000 coffee table (Bought it used). My Gibson Money Pit is a metal machine!
So I bought a bc rich mockingbird for $230. It had emg's 81 85, got it yesterday and it's there passive ones. I plugged it in and the signal was strong. Sounded like all my other guitars, but the DI signal was actually audible. An epiphone sound like the active emg, sound like passive emg. The only one that actually has a different tone/sound are my hotrodded rail pickups. And I did regret changing out pickups more then once. 👍👍
Union job ……. Mine was Critical Care Nurse. I retired after 40 years and my body loves me for it. Glen! Worked with a travel nurse originally from our small northern New York town that currently resides in Windsor Ontario. I showed her your channel.
Someone can explain, why in the world complain about good affordable guitars? I give an example, of why Fender, yes Fender produced one of the best guitars for the price, the American Fender Stratocaster Deluxe SSH, with the fase push button, rollnut, locking tunners, etc. and stopped producing that model, and produced a new model with the old specs, worse quality and even more expensive, that's company greed or Vintage Snob damage? I am happy to see so many brands doing great quality guitars for the price, it helps me a lot to save money on the road, great video as always.
I wish there were these amazing cheap guitars when I was young, but in the 80s and 90s cheap meant terrible. I brought my first electric guitar 5 years ago and it was the cheapest epiphone but everyone who plays it loves it, even semi professional musicians.
Nobody was complaining about the tones of Brian Mays's home built guitar, Slash's fake Gibson and Eddie Van Halen's partscaster he called the Frankenstrat.
@@orlock20 Exactly, I still have my first guitar an Epiphone SG, and I did a Frankenstein transformation out of it, and it is awesome no complaints, and that' s why i don´t understand people sometimes, use what makes the job done and suits you better.
SO i bought a 4000 euro Gibson custom shop les paul standard. It's a beautiful guitar, plays great, very resonant and i do love the way it feels. There really is something about a gibson. However, this is the 6th Gibson i've tried to own , and yet again. The tuning issue. I just wish we had music stores close to us so we can try gibsons and find one that does stay in tune. I'm not a Gibson fanboy. I own prs , music man, mayones etc. For the money, they are definitely worth it. I just feel conflicted because i love the GIbson for its positives, but if it doesn't stay in tune, whats the point? I do have perfect pitch (not blowing smoke) so maybe i'm just being a snob, but it bother the hell out of me when it goes off even slightly. I'm afraid to do bends on it My opinion, if your going to spend that much, find a music store no matter how far and try a bunch. Do you want to be safe at that amount of money? buy the brands i mentioned. Best guitars fit and finish. My only gripe with prs is that they don't use ss frets. If there is anyone one that is a metal head but has a soft side for a owning a gibson like me, please help me with the tuning. How is it that other guitars with the same string angle stay in tune? is it really just the nut? Anyway sorry baout the rant. Love this community and Glenn, Thank you for my 6 wonderful years since i watched you !
James has been one of my favorite guitarists for a long time. He obviously isn’t unknown or anything but he’s definitely underrated, deserves more recognition for sure.
One annoyance I can't seem to shake is that; Marshall discontinued the Valvestates, great and now midly sought after death metal legend line of amps, to replace them with the fucking MG-SERIES?! I know it's supposed to be a budget amp setup, but the Valvestates were too, and they could sound really great. The MG is literally better sounding when the amp is bypassed, using a preamp pedal in the effects loop and you swap the stock speakers lol. I know this because I own a MG100HDFX half-stack and have had it for 2,5 years, still can't polish the turd, so I bought a Valvestate 8100 and a 2x12 with great speakers, night and day. (Marshall is still selling the MG-line) The thing which also annoy me is how much "Vintage" and "the marshall sound" type of nostalgia trip Marshall is in. The DSL-line is fantastic, couldn't they like maybe make an affordable 100W head and a pairing cab with the same tonal quality? The cheapest DSL head (here in Norway atleast) is the 1W-version, costing around 2900kr or roughly 250 euros, but that's excluding the costs of cabs, cables, guitars etc.
Glenn, you'll want to take a look at the Pyramix DAW by Merging Technology. It's a DSD DAW, and also uses Merging's "DXD" format (24-bit, 352.8 khz sample rate PCM) that has the same bit rate as a DSD stream. From what I understand, Pyramix transcodes DSD into DXD to be processed by plugins, and then converts it back when you render to DSD. So, yes, it looks like you can't use plugins directly on a DSD stream, but you can definitely record and publish in DSD, and use plugins in that production.
Yes that's exactly what it does. I used it for years in the mastering studio I worked in. However, it does this with a specialised hardware DSD unit that costs thousands of dollars, along with an ADA unit required for it to load (basically a giant dongle if you already have decent AD conversion!) that costs a few more thousand then there's the software itself. Great software though, I miss the incredible editor and its crossfade functions I haven't seen any other daw replicate, not to mention how insanely powerful it was. When you need what it does, it's the only game in town.
12:54 WTF is this guy talking about? The SM57 has been in use on a regular basis since before the Beatles. People dont keep using these mics just because. They use them because they consistently deliver phenomenal results for every genre.
Might of got buried in the last video but that automated mic placement system is cool AF! Wanted to say you could make it so you can get EXACT locations, and maybe even dual axis (L/R and in/out) if you retrofit in an old 3d printer or something with stepper motors. A lot of older printer have physical controls on them for axis location and then itd just be a matter of replacing the motors. Since a printer usually has 3 axis + extruder you could have two, 2 axis mic placers!
I'm usually alone in the studio and don't have a motorized mic stand so when I'm dialing in a mic placement I usually just loop a riff, press record and move the mic 4 or 5 times starting near the center of the cone. (I already did the same test keeping it at the edge of the dust cap and starting on the grill, then moving it back further and further and I know I like the proximity effect of having it right against the grill.) Then I listen back and figure out which position had the best balance. I can't listen and move the mic at the same time but it's free. Love the idea of a DIY motor and threaded rod or some other home built motor that would let you at least move the mic horizontally.
I love the Norlin era Gibson's I have. But I really like Solar - ESP - Schecter now days. But I would love to be able to try out some Ormsby and Aristides guitars.
I'm just a bedroom guitar player who's been doing it on my own for just over a year. Thank you for being a straight shooter. I don't record anything yet, but it's very refreshing to see a RUclipsr that doesn't try to bs me. I appreciate the content. Keep it up!
Just bought a Harley Benton PJ-5 bass and I couldn't be happier. For €150, it came perfectly intoned with low action, something I've never seen with basses twice the price. I will be getting the frets filed at the edges of the fretboard, but other than that, it's easily worth twice the price.
Weekly Recaps are highly appreciated! I like your more calm, matured persona more than the loud rants, even though it's a instrumental and crucial part of the show and I understand where it comes from and what value it brings to the channel.
hahaha !! The Cartman voice for the butthurt is hilarious. Thanks for the advice about audacity. If I figure out how to get a (decent) recording out of it, I'll let you know. Thanks again for responding !! :)
The Neve guys were very gracious to Glenn and I showing up way before the floor opened for the day to answer questions... and I got a great pair of socks.
Hey Glenn, I got a semi-serious question. You've made clear what you thing about replacing pickups, but what is you opinion on changing electronics? Like, different pots, capacitors, boost circuits, treble bleed circuits, etc. I would definitely love to see you do a proper test...
I love watching you, man because you give all that honest view a lot of great stuff. Keep up the hard work man I love watching every last video because it gets me something to learn and stuff like that.
Regarding the mic comment. The SM57 is not a bad mic, but it is the mic equivalent to the Celestion v30. You've mentioned MULTIPLE times to try other options regarding speakers, but your speaker is only as good as the mic it is being recorded on.
Looking forward to seeing you mix with someone else's gear and vice versa. I really hope that you'll be able to give a rundown of what techniques you decide to use on the new gear and why!
GLEEEEEEEN Thank you for all the amazing info and guidelines, especially when it comes budget gear! I opened up a rehearsal room to rent to other band and I also offer live recording services for bands who want to get some decent demo tracks, but I have a big issue with recording drums in such a loud environment (people still want to get their rehearsal done and I have quite a lot of mic bleed coming from the guitar and bass amps. Can you share some recording tips for such a case? Recording technique, or how to set up the room better, any info would be appreciated. Thank you and stay amazing, Glen!
The SM57 is found in every top studio. It handles high SPL & has a frequency response that is perfect for guitars. Also used on snares & hi hats. The combination of an SM57 and Royer ribbon is an industry standard for guitar. Simple, effective & robust.
No question just guy with the DAW question made me think of a song I recorded maybe a month or two ago. I had a lot of takes on this one song (using Audacity on pc) some real amps and some sims. My pc pooped out after 3 amp sim tracks idk it was weird, I could have 10 real amp tracks and it would play back fine. I ended up exporting a couple tracks out, so they were combined then I re added them back into the mix. That work around did the trick. Might have to download reaper to master everything because I found one master plugin the works with audacity and my test, I wasn't liking it but that could just be the atrocious mix/master I did for my first ep. Audacity can do the job you just got to have the know-how. Myself I'm always learning.
Hey Glenn, I have a question about Elements. I am a Bass player, so that info might be available but I could not find it, also use simple words to answer. Can I create external IRs with elements? I do not record at home (still a fan because it is very informative to know stuff about recording anyways), but I own a Mooer radar - a small stompbox that I can load IRs into. So with the awesome sounds that Elements makes possible, it would be amazing to be able to use them „on the go“. Maybe other people have asked or wondered about the same thing. Thanks a lot and greetings from Austria! George
Hey Glenn! I was recently listening to Pantera (the tour is awesome) and couldn't help but realize how BRUTAL the tone is despite only being in E Standard! This made me wonder, if tuning matters THAT much when recording (obviously extreme differences like E Standard to A Standard/Drop A are going to be noticeable but E to C# doesn't sound too far when you compare early Dying Fetus with Pantera).
Hey Glenn, I know it's a metal channel but do you record or have any tips for recording acoustic guitars? I have a 5150, play hard rock and metal but sometimes after driving around in an 18 wheeler all day.... u just wanna unplug. Thanks for all your amazing info. Love the channel!
I love to learn mixing and mastering. Now I'm new as a vocalist in a metal band and my mates are complaining that I'm trying to make a track of our rehersals because I sould have my priority on the vocals. The quality of the drums are ok in the recordings and I'm doubletracking the guitars. Also writing and playing the bass parts because we havent a bassist yet. I can practice my vocals, so for me it is a win win. Maby i'm overdoing it? Any opinion on that? Greetings from switzerland
Good shout about recommending taking time to learn a new daw, they all operate differently. I have been a Logic Pro user for years, love it. But recently got into Cubase, bought the stripped down Elements 13 (as I don't need it for recording and mixing, not that I do a lot of either) but it's a huge learning curve indeed. Have you done much with Cubase? A mate of mine swears by it, but he's a power user and had been for years. it looks nice though and some of the stock plug ins are fantastic!!
My 2020 Gibson SG special is the nicest finest guitar I've ever played. Perfect in every way. I'm 63 I play professionally and I have many instruments of many different brands. Awesome paint job.
Gleeeeeeennnn!! I need some recording advice! My new band is starting to get into recording our songs. We have been setting up our recording rig very much like our live rig (which we have effectively/affectionately named “The Shizzle”). We have been recording live off the floor and the raw takes don’t seem half bad; I’ve been using the settings on our live board to render into the DAW, but I’ve had to “bus” all of our channels down to 2 since I only have a 2-channel interface. I’d love to throw a multi-channel interface into our rack to record even our live stuff; looking for recommendations on how to easily set things up to record on the go quickly. Plus, I’d like to be able to mix individual instruments post show. Any help is always appreciated!!!
Hey Glenn, I love your videos, so I wonder, why don't you make a 3d printed guitar comparison video and probably put an end to the whole tone wood discussion. On a funny side note, few months ago I bought my 13 yo son a couple of Seymour Duncan humbuckers, he tried them for the first time and sounded like crap, my son look at me with puppy eyes almost on tears and said, "they sound expensive" right after that I realized I connected the pickups wrong and that's why they sounded awful, he learned his lesson after this, he really enjoys your videos too.
Gibsons are kind of like classic cars. They're expensive, made in USA, they dont handle the best, they break down alot, but they are cool as hell. Harley Benton and Solar are like a Kia. Cost effective, made in China, pretty reliable, decent gas mileage, not great resale value, but can get you from point A to point B.
Hey Glenn, love the channel! Love all of your great insight about mixing. I would really like to hear your thoughts about overall volume and how it pertains to each instrument in the mix. Our old producer used to always say it was like parts of the pie and you had to understand your part during that section. I would love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks Glenn for the great content. Would it be possible to make a video on how string length affects sustain. As in, an upside down neck lengthens the lower E giving it more sustain? It's a claim Guitar Maxx madr on his(absolutely amazing) Signature Harley Benton. Also, are you getting more grey strands? The, really suit you 👌🏻
Glenn, I have a Traynor YCV 80 in the 4X10 combo. It is /was a killer amp. I believe it may have blown the transformer. I have had a couple of people check it out and it is only worse. Is there any chance that you may have the knowledge of where I could send this combo for service? When it was working properly it was bliss. I appreciate your time. If it matters I live in metro Detroit.
would you do a review on the daim 100 ampenstein for 25 bucks i wanna know if it actually mimics the sound and thought if so itd be a good example of not having to break the bank
Hey Glen Thank you very much, for the recommendation of the e906 microphone that mic changed my tone tenfold from the sm57 it's a game changer, much appreciated
Glenn’s humor and sarcasm remind me of a friend of mine who recently passed. He was the most dedicated computer geek I’ve ever known and he taught me a lot (I’m a casual, where tech is concerned). Watching these videos make me smile because it’s almost like hearing my pal, let’s call him “J”, giving me sh1t because I asked a question he thought was silly. Thanks for the smile and evoking good memories, sir. Don’t change a thing. “You Stupid Fuck” would probably be J’s favorite part of your show if he was still around.
long shot that you'll see this, but just in case... i want to record in my house, but i know nothing. can you point to your videos or other sources that will help me choose decent gear on a budget? i'm not trying to become a rock star, i just want to record my ideas and turn them into complete songs.
This channel has taught me the hardest lesson I've had to learn about guitar. I don't need to buy new gear, I need to practice. Thanks Glenn.
I’m still failing at that lesson: bought a new guitar just a couple weeks ago. Lol
@@Gainovermghopefully you brought it because of the tone wood! 😂
Yeah I stopped buying guitars and have learned I need to actually practice 😅

The SM57 has been around for 60 years. It will still be used 60 years from now. Pretty amazing for a "bad mic."
I mean it sounds fine and is practically indestructible for $100 and there are probably slightly better mics out there for the same price but it’s already popular so everyone uses it

Yep. I used to wake up with my hands balled into fists. Not fun!
Because they look fantastic and make you feel cool despite their many flaws
Different strokes. If you learn how to do your own set ups you’ll never have those problems. As for the forearms bevel. The way I play it doesn’t bother me but I understand it does for some folks.
Mine doesn’t have a bound edge and it’s lighter than my gretsch jet. Also stays in tune decently.
When I’m talking tuning it’s in 4 tracking the guitar. An odd creepy chorusy thing crops up.
I’m proud to support all the union brothers & sisters out there. Unrestrained greed needs a counter-argument!
i love James Murphy! About 20 years ago I ordered a couple of his solo records but he never sent them. We even emailed back n forth, he was super apologetic but I still never got the CDs lol. I knew he was coming out of a really rough time in his life so I just figured "oh well". Would love to see him on your channel!!!
6:55 finally I get the actual pronunciation of that german dude's name! Thank you Glenn!!
@15:40 You most likely run a very low buffer. For recording g do 256 for mixing 1024 minimum.
Maybe anyone can explain that to me?
rip in peace vash starwind
Rest in peace in peace? Strange 😆
Peace!
i think the simplicity of the modern interfaces (and lack of mixing consoles at home) makes people forget that AD/DA converters exist.
Hey Glenn! Thanks for all the years of great advice
You are very welcome
Now there's a good screen name 😏
Question about the Neve console. Which button launches the photon torpedoe??
Neve vs SSL would be sweet!!
Check your power tubes by turning your amp on from standby while looking at them really quick on and off...if they flash they need replacement.
Answer is usually greed. And yeah, great to have so many good entry and mid priced guitar options out there.
I'm afraid to do bends on it
My opinion, if your going to spend that much, find a music store no matter how far and try a bunch.
I got to try a solar at a local store today and I've got to saythe neck is TINY and smooth.
Like the neck is SMOOTH LIKE BUTTER
Yes please, would love to see that video of the two consoles. Great work, thank you.
Agreed, Geddy’s book rocks! Listening to it too. The earlier chapter about his parents during the war is heartbreaking.
(Marshall is still selling the MG-line)
The thing which also annoy me is how much "Vintage" and "the marshall sound" type of nostalgia trip Marshall is in.
18:10 Benn Jordan did a round up of free DAWs, Reaper trial version is one of them, but it is not the only option.
Bought a gibson back in 2022. Aside from the first week I had it, it's been a very effective dust collector.
Has Glenn ever done any videos showing if cabinet Grill cloth can effect speakers tone? Especially when recording?
hahaha !! The Cartman voice for the butthurt is hilarious. Thanks for the advice about audacity. If I figure out how to get a (decent) recording out of it, I'll let you know. Thanks again for responding !! :)
🤘🤘
I actually got Cakewalk and it's free. And now I also use Ableton.
The Neve guys were very gracious to Glenn and I showing up way before the floor opened for the day to answer questions... and I got a great pair of socks.
I so look forward to your videos because they are not only educational, but highly entertaining. Keep up the great work Glenn and rock on.
You've mentioned MULTIPLE times to try other options regarding speakers, but your speaker is only as good as the mic it is being recorded on.
for those of us that "absolutely" need something physical to turn or manipulate, would getting a mini analogue console be worth it?
Looking forward to seeing you mix with someone else's gear and vice versa. I really hope that you'll be able to give a rundown of what techniques you decide to use on the new gear and why!
Thanks for all the solid information and insight. Props for the 'Bad News' shirt also!
Glenn, most of my uncles worked on the line in Detroit! Not an easy job, hats off brother!
Why is there no Element Bass trial? I really want to play with it but not ready to commit to the full price yet.
GLEEEEEEEN
Thank you for all the amazing info and guidelines, especially when it comes budget gear!
Simple, effective & robust.
the mixing swap on console's is a great idea!! Would love to hear different consoles do the same mix and hear the differences.
Congrats reaching 550k + subs 🤘🤘Love the bloopers on the end....🤣🤣
Definitely would love to see a video of Neve vs SSL.
Congrats on the 550k subs! Always love the content.
12:13 The fact that you choose a poster that advertises Jumbo's skeleton to describe Gibson is poetic
Any good examples you recommend of professional sounding tracks using just guitar plug ins and not amps?
Hey Glenn,
I have a question about Elements.
Love the channel!
i think Glenn made a video on recording acoustic guitar with Bernth so you might wanna look into it.
@@alrecks619 I'll surf for it. Thanks!
Dang, you did NAMM and 70K? That’s a tight schedule. Nice to see you on the boat again!
Did you ever find your solution to the popping noise in reaper? What was the solution?
My 2020 Gibson SG special is the nicest finest guitar I've ever played. Perfect in every way. I'm 63 I play professionally and I have many instruments of many different brands.
Awesome paint job.
Geddy Lee's "My Effin' Life" was one of the best rock autobiographies I've read (audiobook read).
Congrats on hitting the Subscriber goal 😎Someone out there is gonna get a kicking amp... Keep Rockin' 🎸☕
I love the new segment. We should all strive to be on it.
Have you heard anyone's opinion on the west creek guitars on Amazon?
Where is the vsx headphones part 2 where you tell us what was what?
Glenn, please tell us if bridges make a tone difference!
The, really suit you 👌🏻
Glenn,
I have a Traynor YCV 80 in the 4X10 combo.
It would definitely be cool to see the mixing shootout!
unfortunately, the link doesn't appear at the end of the video, could you please share it? thank u in advance.
would you do a review on the daim 100 ampenstein for 25 bucks i wanna know if it actually mimics the sound and thought if so itd be a good example of not having to break the bank
Hey Glen Thank you very much, for the recommendation of the e906 microphone that mic changed my tone tenfold from the sm57 it's a game changer, much appreciated
Glad to help!!
For those of us who cannot afford a Neve console, but would still like to have a control surface for our DAW, what would you suggest?
Glenn’s humor and sarcasm remind me of a friend of mine who recently passed. He was the most dedicated computer geek I’ve ever known and he taught me a lot (I’m a casual, where tech is concerned).
Watching these videos make me smile because it’s almost like hearing my pal, let’s call him “J”, giving me sh1t because I asked a question he thought was silly.
Thanks for the smile and evoking good memories, sir. Don’t change a thing. “You Stupid Fuck” would probably be J’s favorite part of your show if he was still around.
Sorry for your loss, dude. It's sweet to be able to remember him fondly in unexpected moments
long shot that you'll see this, but just in case... i want to record in my house, but i know nothing. can you point to your videos or other sources that will help me choose decent gear on a budget? i'm not trying to become a rock star, i just want to record my ideas and turn them into complete songs.
Pro labor Glenn is my favorite Glenn.
