    If you are sending the card internationally, don't forget to write the country you're sending it to! Or else, it might take an unnecessarily long time for your card to get where you want it to go. :)
    PS I'm thankful for snail mail! It makes my life so much happier!

    Thank you for this! I’m getting married soon and had absolutely NO IDEA how to start my thank you cards for my bridal shower and for my upcoming wedding guests!

    About the return address location: it is perfectly fine to write the return address on the flap/top of the envelope back. It's even recommended in formal situations, like for wedding invitations and the like.

    I'm thankful for this video - it's a good reminder to actually send out thank you cards this year! I always say I'm gonna do it...and then I don't. And then I feel bad about it. No more!!

    I'm thankful for the Buggs! They let me come over and chill when I was having a rough time, and they always support me when I'm questioning life, and they're just a really great power couple and I admire them a lot

    I just came back here to say that my boyfriend's grandma really liked the card I sent her where I thank her for inviting me and my family over for Thanksgiving. I never would have even thought about doing that if it wasn't for this video!

    Only the first ounce is eligible for a forever stamp. If you have a lot to say, you may need stamps for additional ounces.

    Just found this. We used it in our morning stand-up meeting. We are currently, as a business, working through Holly Bertone of PinkFortitude.com's 30-day Gratitude Challenge...today is Day 17: Send a Card. This fit like a glove and put a lighthearted spin on doing something that really stands out. Nice little lead-in for us. Thanks HtA!

    How late is too late to send a thank you card? I bought thank you cards to send to people who sent me money when I graduated college... last year. I kept forgetting to write them and at this point I feel like it's too late.

    CanadaPost has a nice website for info on how to address letters and postal rates. We also have "permanent" stamps here in Canada which are always the right amount for letters sent within Canada (1 stamp/letter). Don't forget to check the rates/amounts of stamps needed for international mail as they will be different.

    If you're confused about stamps and everything, you can also just walk into the post office and ask the clerk to mail your letter. They'll generally ask you what way you want to send it (first class, etc.). Pick one and they'll stamp and send it for you.

    Thank you for leaving in Hanks ramblings at the end, they are entertaining and brightened my morning.
    I know that the majority of your audience is american, but I would have liked a small comment on envelope formats depending on country and that people should check the standards of their own country.

    You can put the return address on the back but the post office doesn't love it when you do that.

    Hank, this is toooooooo funny. You are right though, I asked my older Godkids, 13 & 11, thet no clue how to send a letter. It was hilarious. Ironically my youngest male Godchild, 7, knew exactly what to do. In all fairness my sister in law has always made him, and baby Sister, participate in writing thank you notes, Christmas card, Birthday cards.

    • @wanderlustlovelace
      @wanderlustlovelace 6 лет назад

      We have them in the Czech Republic, though it's slightly more complicated - there are A (within CZ), E (within EU) and Z (all around the world) stamps.

    If I don't know where the person lives, can I still mail them a thank you card to their work? Or, should I just email them instead? Mailing people in their work place feels weird.

    • @thatjillgirl
      @thatjillgirl 6 лет назад

      Yeah, mailing things to an office is typically fine. I worked in a real estate office once, and lots of the realtors got cards in the mail.

    People are confused about how to adress a letter? Did they go to elementary school?

    • @Biathine
      @Biathine 6 лет назад +8

      Oh, come on. This has nothing to do with education (I certainly don't remember learning how to post letters in school) and a lot to do with how often you do this specific thing. I haven't posted a letter in years and did need to google it recently to be sure I've got it right. Please take your high horse back to the stable.

      I thought it was kinda crazy too, then I remembered that I'm old and most younger people don't send snail mail anymore. Everything is done by email or online form. There's a reason why the post office is struggling really hard to stay open these days.

    Isn't "Thank you notes" an American thing? There is no such thing there I live....

    • @EbyKat
      @EbyKat 6 лет назад

      Aurelija not sure where you live, but give the sheer size of the US it can be hard to thank someone in person all the time so a letter doing so is important.
      The podcast Shmanners did an episode about this. I don’t think it’s just an American thing. I want to say it came out of the UK from people inviting one another over for tea.

    Does anyone else think sending out thank you cards is a weird and archaic thing to do? Is it just me? A generational thing?
