I remember making jokes back when I was 16 saying “he’s probably gonna pass before he finishes the damn thing” (22 now) and here I am..an empty feeling and realised this man did more than I could have ever expected from any other person on this planet.
The series will never have a definitive end, but what we got was a hell of a ride. Personally, it's my favorite comic book series of all time. Not just manga, but beyond everything. !SPOILERS AHEAD - I'm just glad we got to see Casca recover from her debilitated childlike state. Of course I'd prefer to see a conclusion, but the story feels so great, I'm just happy he managed to take it so far.
Even unfinished, we all can see where it was headed. It was a revenge story. Showing life is unfair and uncaring. Showing how Guts losing everything and Casca loses her mind. Slowly they are able to heal and regain themselves. Only after facing their trauma over years of struggle. All the while, their abuser pursues them and deceives the masses to gain power. Truly moving.
When I played Dark Souls(Berserk video game equivalent)my bar for fantasy games were set dangerously high as well, if only I could get that feeling of being new to Dark Souls and Berserk again 😔
The only anime to come close is death note or demon slayer for me, both of which I highly recommend as well. For movies, check out Akira, and studio ghibli films.
Behelit is one of the most creepiest songs I have ever heard, where as gatsu has to be one of the most beautiful and enchanting songs I've heard The music to berserk is as good as the story
I started with the anime so its crazy to think theres so much more. The anime has a complete beginning and end, even if the ending is fucked. It still feels like a complete story, instead of guts and casca being saved they just die in there while behelit plays up untill the last second of the episode. Its obviously much better that there is more to the story. But still, it seems like such a natural, creepy way for berserk to end.
They should continue the 1997 Berserk keeping the same art style and keeping the same Susumu Hirasawa score. They should get the same director who director who directed this. 1997 versioin is the only Berserk anime that could remain true to the quality of manga.
All the people with the skills required have retired. The golden age will never return. Maybe AI will be able to deconstruct the thousands of hours of 80s and 90s anime and produce an output with steadily increasing quality. Maybe a golden age of African hand drawn animation will begin to flourish. These things I don't know. But I am sure Japan will not be able to replicate what it accomplished back then. 😔
I don't even think it just remains true, I think other than the hopeless ending, it's even better than the manga. The music, the colour, the amazing and unforgettable voice acting, and even some story changes. Removing unnecessary and gratuitous things like Wyald was a good choice, because I think that was one of the more tasteless moments in the manga, and it also lessens the impact of the first encounter with Zodd, and the Eclipse. Then some changes, like with Donovan, it leaves out an integral part of Guts' character which would make him a lot less confusing.
I love how Guts's theme is quite, subdued, and introspective when the creators could easily have made it (and Guts's character) loud and abrasive without any depth. It says a lot about how the story and plot treats its characters, in my opinion.
I don't know if anything could ever capture the feeling of Berserk quite like Behelit does, it just evokes a feeling of looking out at the natural beauty of the world, all while knowing there's so many sinister things hiding everywhere. It feels like a break from the terror, when you know it's only a matter of time before it continues.
Yes yes yes Exactly couldn't have said it better. Happiness and wonder in a world of terror. You just feel something bad around the corner about to happen.

Hi everyone, I appreciate every single one of you lovely people. This soundtrack to me is a absolute masterpiece. And so outworldly it's indescribable. I want to thank thee for acknowledging what this album means.
I don’t normally watch Anime but I watched a bit with my boyfriend. He was watching the new version on Netflix. It wasn’t interesting to me. When he started watching the 97’ version I was entranced by the music. I’m like, “wow that music is beautiful.” So I watched most of it. I enjoyed the older version so much more. More story, animation (in my opinion) was better, and the music. Sometimes the classics should never be remade.
I love this show so much... The anime's music captures the essence of Berserk SO much better then the movie soundtrack. God damn it. Griffith did something wrong.
Charm and charisma doesn't change the fact that he is a ruthless, ambitious and narcissistic, he is this version of Lex Luthor, all what he want is archive his dreams by any means necessary, even if that mean sacrificing his own men, sure, he can be kind, he can be good, but only if people giving what he wants, for example in the last volume of the manga, Griffith behave like a mobster, he exchange protection for power, and anyone that doesn't fit his vision of a perfect world is killed.
Griffith didn't.The day Guts left was the day Fempto was born, and Griffith died. At that point Griffith gave up on all of his good qualities. He surrendered to his inner darkness. He surrendered his own ambitions, because he believed Guts had surrendered on them. He gave into his worst traits, and he left the quality traits that made him a good leader, and a good comrade behind. He wasn't Griffith when he accepted the God's Hand, Griffith was long dead.
I would say your close. Either way there are two things that any Griffith hater will never acknowledge. The fact that he was tortured for a year and how he triggered a crazy demonic transformation.
@@xmaserbex7392 forces and guts are the best imo, i sometimes wish i could bond with other people that watch berserk or anime in general but it's not mainsteam at all where i live, kinda sad
Two songs that appear in Berserk that are not on OST: Ennio Morricone - Madre Assente (during the queen's funeral) Francesco Tamponi - In anno domini (Casca telling Guts her backstory)
Guts: It seems to me that everybody stakes their lives in a lost cause. Looking over them all from up here, I almost think I can see their hopes and dreams flickering in each little light. Casca: Like a bonfire of dreams. Guts: Well, that was beautiful. You sounded like the Princess talking.
Gattsu and Forces themes were unforgetable for me, and marked me when I was young watching the anime. Both were like nothing else I had listen to before and seemed so appropriate for the age and context of the series. Gattsu's theme made me feel really lonely, sometimes kind of nostalgic as if what I was watching was a precious moment that wouldn't last too much while Forces made me feel ready for battle
Villy I see it as an interpretation of the sadness of his life. Raised in war to fight through his whole life. never knowing the love of caring parents. constantly fighting for survival in a world he knows only to be cruel until he meets the band of the hawk (and we all know how well that ends up going). it's a beautiful song.
I feel like the worst thing to happen to guts his the band of the hawk. His life since childhood was awful, hes always known that and always felt that way. But through the band of the hawk hes finally given happiness, friends and good memories. He can finally see that theres more to the world than misery but then the eclipse happens. And its all taken away in an instant. Its one thing to become accustom to misery and despair, but its a 100 times worse to finally be given hope and happiness just to have it be horrifically taken away
The 80-90 was the golden Era of the Anime, the best animes, the best soundtracks, the best themes. The quality that was then is clearly seen. And here is the proof
No piece of media has ever (and probably never will) have the same level of impact on me that Berserk did. I watched the last ~four episodes of Berserk in the middle of the night in the dark by myself, and it was one of the most surreal experiences of my life. I can't even describe how it left me feeling. I watched through the entire credits when it was over and then just stared at the black screen for a moment before I turned my laptop off and went to bed. I laid awake for something like an hour, just absolutely shell-shocked. This series changed something in me; I haven't been quite the same since. I don't know if that's good or bad, but either way, I don't regret it.
the opening song "behilit" is so incredibly creepy and haunting also foreboding, i feels as if its the song to the apocalypse, or something incredibly terrible will happen in the near future.
behelit is one of my favourite songs made by susumu. in context of end of 1997 anime i was completely mentally destroyed. so much pain and morally exhausted. i felt like I had lost something, very dear to me
Listening to that Murder theme gives me a kind of low key mild PTSD & have me do a rewind in my memory to that heart-breaking treacerous moment of sacrifice during the eclipse
I discovered the anime recently, I binge-watched the entire season in a few days. I didn't expect to take such a slap. I thought it was just a story about a guy with a big sword fighting big monsters. What a mistake… The emotion, the soundtrack, the writing of the characters and in particular the main trio. The evolution of their relationship, the unspoken. It was brillant. I haven't read the manga but if you say it's even better than the anime, I can't wait to check it out.
Rest in Peace Kentaro Miura, you absolute legend. Your work inspired the whole industry and entire generations, not many people can say that of themselves, I hope you were proud. You will be sorely missed!
For me the most memorable moment in the Anime was when the God Hand was introduced and "Fear" was playing. While it wasn't the first time this track was played it was certainly a jaw dropping shock for someone who watched the Anime spoiler free and still to this date one of the most "horror/hopelessness" moments in any Anime
Here again after the latest chapter. Even if it was the last chapter I just feel grateful to have gotten to experience such a masterpiece by such a legendary mangaka. RIP Miura.
No piece of media ive experienced has moved me like the 1997 Berserk. The music, the atmosphere, the emotions are a masterpiece. The manga is simply incredible, this music though is perfect. Thank you Mr Miura.
The Gattsu theme and the Earth theme will always remind me of the musical group ENIGMA. I would even suspect that the composer had that musical group as an inspiration.
Like 90% of the music in my iPod consists of anime soundtracks. I still watch anime and listen to their background music regularly and I still think that Berserk's "MURDER" is absolutely the best OST ever composed. Thanks Susumu Hirasawa :-D
i just saw the latest 352th chapter in mangastream and wanted to honor the memories again by listening "earth" track.. Very long time ago in a spring day i was watching Berserk 25 episodes anime. Back then i was living on the top floor of an apartment, there was some grass and flower smell in the air thx to the beginning of the spring. I've just finished all episodes in 2 days and started to reading manga afterwards.. Those were the days man. When spring comes i'm listening this nostalgic track and trying to remember those beautiful times... Berserk got a special place in my heart..
RIP Kentaro Miura, i was regularly checking for new chapters and had some serious worries about Berserk's future. Oh man, years are passing by and we are aging, seeing lots of famous people are dying.
Rest in peace Kentaro Miura, you were the best at your craft. There is manga before and after Berserk. The world is a better place because of your work.
There are very few people I think I will remember for my lifetime and Kentaro miura is one of them. Rip to Miura one of the best authors I know of. I wish you had completed berserk but unfortunately now there will always be sorrow whenever I even think of berserk. You struggled against the fate and persisted for your artwork for more than 30 years I respect the devotion. I know writing about you and your work on internet is useless now as people move on within days to the next big thing but it's more so about expressing my feelings as I can't really express how empty I feel to anyone around me. It's fascinating how a man I have never met or seen can cause these emotions.
Adore the soundtrack, sets such an eerie, dark and alluring tone to the show... I LOVE Berserk! Hope the manga gets completed despite Kentaro Miura's passing 😔. One thing I did hate though was the opening in the series...
I joined the Berserk universe in less than a year and I'm so into it, this is by far my best experience with any Manga or Anime, I just pray to be alive to see an ending.
One day, years into the future I am going to stumble upon Gattsu again and its going to send me into some vietnam-like flashbacks and I hope my future kids will be ready. You know when a series is good when it gives you PTSD like symptoms. F
The Behelit theme still gives me goosebumps to this day. Despite its dated animation, the original anime was far superior in many ways to the new ones which I thought let us down with animation and it really needed the artist who made this soundtrack to come back. It brings tons of atmosphere, suspense and horror to Berserk.

I appreciate every single one of you lovely people. This soundtrack to me is a absolute masterpiece. And so outworldly it's indescribable. I want to thank thee for acknowledging what this album means.
Listen this while reading the manga,
the little pleasures of life.
na man, its significant pleasure
me too, bro
Best Manga ever
Indeed.
can someone make a list for which ost applies the best to which volume
I don’t normally watch Anime but I watched a bit with my boyfriend. He was watching the new version on Netflix. It wasn’t interesting to me.
When he started watching the 97’ version I was entranced by the music. I’m like, “wow that music is beautiful.”
So I watched most of it. I enjoyed the older version so much more. More story, animation (in my opinion) was better, and the music.
Sometimes the classics should never be remade.
need a weeb wife like yee
The 97' anime is just plain beautiful, they really messed up the remake.
Read the manga yo!

I love this show so much... The anime's music captures the essence of Berserk SO much better then the movie soundtrack. God damn it. Griffith did something wrong.
Yeah.He fucked the wrong person at the wrong time.
He wasn't Griffith when he accepted the God's Hand, Griffith was long dead.
he raped caska.
I would say your close. Either way there are two things that any Griffith hater will never acknowledge. The fact that he was tortured for a year and how he triggered a crazy demonic transformation.
Rest in Peace Miura. A master of his craft. What a sad day this is.
ahh the nostalgia, especially guts's theme
@@xmaserbex7392 forces and guts are the best imo, i sometimes wish i could bond with other people that watch berserk or anime in general but it's not mainsteam at all where i live, kinda sad
Rest in Peace Miura.
Two songs that appear in Berserk that are not on OST:
Ennio Morricone - Madre Assente (during the queen's funeral)
Francesco Tamponi - In anno domini (Casca telling Guts her backstory)
bs, ennio moricone composed a piece for berserk!?!?
@@NootNoooooot Nope, he didn't, but it was included nonetheless.
Ah shit, ur gonna make me cry. ;-;
It’s a Coborlwitz family secret to dislike this soundtrack
Passed down over 5.6 billion years
🤣🤣 great comment 👍
Rest in peace, Miura sensei. ;/
RIP Mr Miura - your work will live on
RIP Kentaro Miura, The Golden Age truly has come to a end.
i've no idea why Guts' main theme is the calmest soundtrack ever
Villy I see it as an interpretation of the sadness of his life. Raised in war to fight through his whole life. never knowing the love of caring parents. constantly fighting for survival in a world he knows only to be cruel until he meets the band of the hawk (and we all know how well that ends up going). it's a beautiful song.
Villy which one is that ?
I feel like the worst thing to happen to guts his the band of the hawk. His life since childhood was awful, hes always known that and always felt that way. But through the band of the hawk hes finally given happiness, friends and good memories. He can finally see that theres more to the world than misery but then the eclipse happens. And its all taken away in an instant. Its one thing to become accustom to misery and despair, but its a 100 times worse to finally be given hope and happiness just to have it be horrifically taken away
Because he is the hero
protagonist :/
I would say it's melancholy over calmness.
Rest in peace Miura. Thanks for this masterpiece Susumu Hirasawa. Thank you very much.
“Beneath an unsinking black sun...through the boundless gloom...our journey continues.”
― Kentaro Miura, rest in peace.
Guys, don't cry. It's gonna be alright. If you wanna talk about stuff in your life, just do. You are not alone.
RIP Miura. Gone too soon :(
the opening song "behilit" is so incredibly creepy and haunting also foreboding, i feels as if its the song to the apocalypse, or something incredibly terrible will happen in the near future.
this guy is so insanely talented.
behelit is one of my favourite songs made by susumu. in context of end of 1997 anime i was completely mentally destroyed. so much pain and morally exhausted. i felt like I had lost something, very dear to me
Listening to that Murder theme gives me a kind of low key mild PTSD & have me do a rewind in my memory to that heart-breaking treacerous moment of sacrifice during the eclipse
You should read the manga while the soundtrack is on, cant recommend it enough
I discovered the anime recently, I binge-watched the entire season in a few days. I didn't expect to take such a slap.
I thought it was just a story about a guy with a big sword fighting big monsters. What a mistake…
The emotion, the soundtrack, the writing of the characters and in particular the main trio. The evolution of their relationship, the unspoken. It was brillant. I haven't read the manga but if you say it's even better than the anime, I can't wait to check it out.
i know i almost fucking cried how good this anime was
Rest in Peace, Kentaro Miura
RIP Miura.
I remember when this video only had like 20k views. Now it’s at a million+
Sleep well king, you’ve blessed us all with your work
No piece of media ive experienced has moved me like the 1997 Berserk. The music, the atmosphere, the emotions are a masterpiece. The manga is simply incredible, this music though is perfect. Thank you Mr Miura.
The Gattsu theme and the Earth theme will always remind me of the musical group ENIGMA.
I would even suspect that the composer had that musical group as an inspiration.
this soundtrack is deeply immersive, puts you inside the anime and shares the feelings of the characters with the viewer.
Berserk is an anime legend!!
I wish I could see the ending of this masterpiece...
RIP to the legend
Like 90% of the music in my iPod consists of anime soundtracks. I still watch anime and listen to their background music regularly and I still think that Berserk's "MURDER" is absolutely the best OST ever composed.
Thanks Susumu Hirasawa :-D
can you recommend some, i'm new to this kind of music, something similar to this maybe, thnx
Manuel Sica Well said, fellow fan!
Manuel Sica i lover murder 2!!!
I second the motion
Amazing piece of art
i just saw the latest 352th chapter in mangastream and wanted to honor the memories again by listening "earth" track.. Berserk got a special place in my heart..
good vibes. Berserk is our influence
RIP Kentaro Miura, i was regularly checking for new chapters and had some serious worries about Berserk's future. Oh man, years are passing by and we are aging, seeing lots of famous people are dying.
The most incredible soundtrack for any anime ever made.
RIP the greatest mangaka of all time. Your legacy will inspire countless generations to come.
Rest in peace Kentaro Miura, you were the best at your craft. There is manga before and after Berserk. The world is a better place because of your work.
I've never loved and hated a story more than this one. Very special.
RIP Miura
Same here, hope i will still be alive to see the ending
the tables have turned
@@zaganim3813 they really did...
lol
Rip to Kentaro Miura thank you for creating one of the greatest characters in Manga.
Here after finding out that Berserk will be back! Miura’s work and memory are alive. Thank you for that, Kouji Mori 🙏🏻
Let's not forget this story and everything it's done for us.
Love the artstyle from 90s Animes
One day, years into the future I am going to stumble upon Gattsu again and its going to send me into some vietnam-like flashbacks and I hope my future kids will be ready. You know when a series is good when it gives you PTSD like symptoms. F
The Behelit theme still gives me goosebumps to this day. Despite its dated animation, the original anime was far superior in many ways to the new ones which I thought let us down with animation and it really needed the artist who made this soundtrack to come back. It brings tons of atmosphere, suspense and horror to Berserk.
Murder is so badass... but whenever I hear it I can't help but remember the poignant and gruesome demises of the Band of the Hawk :(
damn that's so true i've never noticed watching the anime weird
Best ever, and thank you Miura-sama, rest in peace. And thanks to the anime staff & composer, ofc.
Goosebumps ost. Wonderfull no matter the years
One of the best albums I ever listened to and I listen to all sorts of music heavy metal punk industrial and classical music
how does a soundtrack happen to just go this hard
Answer - Susumu Hirasawa
Some legends are best left unfinished
RIP Miura
Unforgettable. RIP Miura-san, you warmed my very soul.
Keep going, strugglers...
This series changed my life for the better. Love this soundtrack. RIP Miura.
