I own nothing. Enjoy. Credit to picture: adamharrad.devi... 10 Hrs: • Berserk - Theme of Gut...
For some reason this theme actually fits Guts in so many ways, at first sight you'd think a ruthless guy like him would have a more "aggressive" theme song but if you look closely into his character and see how much he's suffered then this theme fits so perfectly...
Well said very true
He is good beyond words... Despite appearances.
I think its meant to represent guts' mind at rest, once the ringing of battle subsides he is left with his thoughts and feelings.
The only thing he wanted more than to kill Griffith, was his own sense of peace.
Yeah i think the same like you
Lie down.
Try not to cry.
Cry a lot.
every tym
Its the best, though, right?
The fetal position helps a lot too
Man...
I'm crying now... He's gone there won't be anything more, Berserk is done but it will live in our hearts.
I feel that the relationship between Guts and Griffith is one of the most fleshed out, complex and deeply considered relationships ever written in the modern age. Not only their relationship, but their individual qualities as people. Their motivations, joys, aspirations and dreams. Neither of the two are morally simplistic characters in the slightest.
To start with Guts, he was shaped by the events of his tragic early life. Born from the corpse of his dead mother, cast out as a bad omen from his only role models. Taken advantage of, beaten and used to their own gains. He simply did what he had to do to overcome the obstacles of his childhood. Through all his suffering, he never let any of that negativity twist his mind further than was necessary for his own survival. We move on to see him grow, to finally taste the companionship he had craved and was denied since he was a boy. We see him find love, friendship and a true sense of purpose for the first time in his life, only for him to be betrayed once more by his greatest friend. Even through the pain that had caused him, he still put the lives of those closest to him before his own, even if his callous nature prevents him from outwardly stating it. He is no doubt a damaged individual, but not a bad man. No doubt the loss of the love of his life, his dreams and companions had warped him into what he is today, a man fueled by revenge and pain.
--
For Griffith, I believe that he was not inherently evil to begin with. He may have been a sociopath to some extent, but he never needlessly risked the lives of his men, and on many occasions has made sacrifices for the benefit of his army. He was a man whose dream was far greater than any one man could ever hope to achieve on his own, and with that burden he did what he had to do to achieve it, no matter the cost. Meeting Guts was a pivotal moment in his life. He had finally found someone with a will to match his own, and in that meeting, he had changed without even realizing it. Losing his greatest ally was the straw that broke the camel's back, especially when he was on the cusp of realizing that dream alongside his comrades. The mistake he made in grieving the loss of his best friend cost him that dream, and his men also payed the price.
He had succumbed to the temptation of regaining the dream that was lost to him due to his own foolish, desperate actions. He had forsaken his humanity and assimilated himself with the ultimate evil for that one last chance. For the first time in his life, he was irreparably broken and shown that he was just as fragile as any other human. The dichotomy between his lust for power and his love for his comrades, as well as what he sacrificed to attain that last chance at his dream is what makes this story so truly tragic and heart-breaking.
Berserk is a modern age Epic.
FATHER MASK, THE BEST LOOKING MASK IN THE GAME.
ty
Patrick Callahan true😭😭😭
Great analysis.
honestly you put that in the best way possible to understand.
I swear Susumu Hirasawa must have read Berserk before making this theme. It fits Gutts way to well, it feels so lonely.
I'm 99.99% sure he has read it. Susume Hirasawa has composed beautiful tracks to Berserk. They fit very well and they add to the original manga outside of the anime.
Legends never die. Rest in peace Kentaro Miura
This theme song is so haunting.
Guts and Casca were beautiful together, its a shame how their budding romance dissolved...
Agreed. The best anime couple ever.
I never liked casca... She treated guts like shit for half the anime...
AymanLT Don't forget she was smitten with Griffith, yet despite that learnt to love Guts..that's why I love Guts and Casca...such an unusual pairing, their development as a couple was amazing.
And sad
Sherzan Daver idont think dissolved would be the right word to describe what happened
This hits different now.
R.I.P Kentaro Miura
what I like about gus is he never gave up on the one person he loved in the world and he never stopped fighting even if it felt like he lost every thing
Yes. He is an impeccable person but we shouldn’t expect less than the Struggler. Guts is a human beyond human
Does anyone else listen to this while reading Berserk chapters :-)
are you me?
guidetoanything Haha i might be! A new berserk chapter came out this weekend! Can't wait to read
I know! It was good. But I miss Gatts chapters haha it should be half Gatts&co and half Rickert&co in each chapter.
I listen to this and Murder.
Finally a new Berserk chapter. It's been a while :')
Guts is the most tragic character I've seen.
Rhys1003 I don't know what you mean by that, but all I know is that his life is the worst shit that can happen to anyone. And for me that makes him all the more better(he's my favorite character in all anime/manga) since he doesn't just break down and keeps going.
Uchiha Shadow I know i was just screwing with you and yeah i agree he's my favorite character in anime/manga.
+Uchiha Shadow I agree with you so hard. Guts is easily my number one character of all time since he just continues to struggle and fight even if there is no hope of winning he still fights. like the fight with zodd, you see him get freaked out and still he keeps fighting the immortal zodd.. Other characters try to be "cool" in situations like that. thats why they can't compare to him.. they're not on the same level as the character guts.. he's on par with all the bad guys with how many people he has killed and he's a good character.. but he has alot of bad in him.. He is very human.. and why i say that is because.. he has been hurt emotionally and physically all of his life and that has shaped him to resort to his killing instincts and throw away all emotions except.. hatred.
Born from a corpse, raised to fight, got sold to a paedophile, killed his stepfather, got banished, ended up in chains and endless battles as a kid and saw many battlefields.. met band of the hawk.. and things were good.. found best friend and a good woman..
listened to best friend.. killed a nobleman and then his kid by mistake for best friend.. get betrayed by best friend.. girlfriend gets raped by best friend.. best friend kills all of guts friends and leaves his gf with ptsd amnesia while receiving godlike powers.. guts loses an arm and an eye..
swears revenge against the man that was his brother..
AND ALL THE ABOVE IS JUST HIS EARLY LIFE.. THE INTRO TO THE SERIES..
Also, i did not mean to write a comment this long but its hard to stop when GUTS IS THE BEST CHARACTER OF ALL THE MANGA I'VE READ AND ANIME I'VE SEEN.
ill shut up now.. x'D
so dope tho
+Audun Thiry Most well written description I've seen in ages.
SEND WORD. HE'S FINALLY OFF THE BOAT. *HE'S OFF THE FUCKING BOAT.*
+Bolt of Beef Light the beacons!!!!
LIGHT THE BEACONS, ROHAN MUST BE READY FOR ANOTHER ARC.
T The Omega MUSTER THE ROHIMIM
ohhh my dude you just got PRANKED
guts is a fob
This song makes me imagine someone struggling to deal with the past, whilst also trying to find a reason to live in the present.
It might seem strange, but I think this music suits Guts well.
That's why it's his theme bro.
+Krakolio It doesn't fit his character on the _surface_ (big, tough, scary killing machine), but it fits what he really is deep down...a lone wolf that has had a hard life and yearns for companionship.
True, what I love about Guts' character is that despite appearing like a hulking Conan expy on maximum testosterone poisoning, deep down he's just sentimental sad sack that just wants to be happy with the woman he loves and is at times very regretful of the actions he's done to survive.
Yes it isn’t strange. It is just unexpected yet when listened to more often you can understand why it is made the way it is
Smithkakarot more than that. Guts yearns for purpose. His will is beyond anything else and he has the strongest determination of will when focused at a certain perspective. Guts is complicated in what he truly seeks
I have a theory. What if Guts' inner self manifests as a wolf not only to symbolise a loner lifestyle, but also because that is the first thing Guts kills after he kills Gambino and sets out on his own? That is quite an important moment for Guts, he lets out that roar because he knows that he is a born killer and there is only one road he can travel down. Just a thought.
never thought of that!
***** Always figures guts as someone who has to live, even if anyone else would have layed down to die, be it in a fight or by a cruel fate. He is a survivor and will continue to challenge anything to live on. why? he does not know, he yearns to know and thus he fights on. It was because of this that he found the strength to fight those wolves, to leave the hawks and to fight on after the eclipse. Why is his inner form a wolf? like someone said it is his inner beast, the part of him that only embodies his hate and fear, what he always feared that he was, a madman who only knew how to kill and that was the entierty of his being. Guts fears this beast because of this, he wish to find evidence that he is more than that.
***** have you read the manga? you are right, the Berserker armor manifests as a demonic wolf, his inner self is of a wolf, he hated casca for calling him that, because deep down he knows that he enjoys it, and in the manga he has to deal with that every single time he fights with the armor that gives him the strength to face foes of immeasurable power.
***** very nice theory
***** Guts lived for gambino, killed for him, did everything he wanted. He was unloved so every praise he got was like sunshine bursting through the clouds. And then this adopted father sold him to be raped and tried to kill him, he just made it out of there killing gambino so he's at the lowest point in his life and then the wolves show up. My theory is that this image sticks with guts and the wolf becomes the vision of a demon in his mind, they come when you are almost lost. This is why his dark side is a wolf, why the berserker armor takes on the shape of a wolf. If he were to die with a behelit on him and he would accept the offer from the godhand this is the shape he would take as a demon.
Him and Casca have gone through long enough :(
The story deserves an ending but then we would want more
Probably one of the only music I actually can listen to during hours without stop... Thank you :)
Guts, the manliest man of manliness who doesn't boast about it and keeps humble. With his amazing blade, Dragonslayer, he still continues his journey with his new friends after losing the original Band of the Hawk in a horrific manner. Ah Kentaoru you are awesome for making such an excellent manga. :D
Best anime I've ever read in my damn life. No other anime could dare compare to berserk. Long living fan
I feel the same way this anime just gets into my soul best show/story Ive ever watch/read imho
When I hear this...I think of all the torment Guts has had to endure, throughout his whole life.
crazy story
+Smithkakarot I think "my love for you is like a truck"
+Kyle Rutherford "did he just say making Fuck?"
+law5121 "Do you want to making f@&$ berserker.Berserker!"
I wish they made more of the story, instead of just stopping at the golden age arc
Manga.
I meant adapted to anime.
1113stve 2 things for you: if you search in google, there will be more projects beside the trilogy; and according to what i read (in spanish websites) the manga will continue this month. HOPE IM RIGHT
anyway they said ( months ago ) that other arcs will be adapted in movie just like the golden age
Think they heard you
Imagine if the anime had spanned as long as the manga... 20+ years later I wouldn't get tired of hearing this theme.
The tears this song can produce are are the tears of pain and relief, sorrow and joy. This song cuts deep down on a good soul that has suffered a tragic life. I feel for guts and the pain he suffered must have crushed him deep down inside, but his will is strong and he can and will overcome anything.
The Berserk series has been ongoing for 27 years since it began, I think the berserk series will end at Volume 50. Which I assume that after this arc of the elf island, there will be one more arc after this which will end the series, I can see that when guts see's The elf king, Guts will be set free from the brand of sacrifice for he had for a while. To be able to defeat Griffith and the god hand. Guts cannot defeat them, because darkness cannot win against darkness, especially with the berserker armor which is the representation of darkness. I imagine that guts will receive a new armor, new power that doesn't cause harm to himself like the berserker armor. Guts will transform from darkness to light from the support of the Elf King, to be able to defeat Griffith and the God Hand.
Also Kentaro Miura interview in the year 2000.
The interviewer ask Kentaro a question and said "Is it even possible that we’ll see a happy ending?
And Kentaro said "I’d say it’s possible. I used to have the final moves planned out, but lately I’ve been thinking I’d rather figure them out when I come to it, so now it’s hard to say what could happen. Being the sort of person I am, though, I actually don’t think I could let such a long grim story end with a grim ending - like, say, having him suddenly die. I don’t really like that kind of entertainment. I’ll leave it to my subconscious."
Tell me what you think
We need a lot more context set in the story with Guts and Casca. What he will do in facing Griffith. The Apostles are least of his worries.
As well as Rickert with Silat and the Kushan. Each individual Apostles agenda as well as Griffith’s in Falconia. Luca and the girls in Falconia. What new allies and abilities will be learned. And so much more. It’s a complicated issue that I am surprised Miura made it so well for so long granted this all seems to be like a lifelong story literally. He is doing well in following his subconscious
This song brings back memories from the manga and automatically triggers this magical "sad but happy at the same time"-feeling.
Berserk,truly exceptional & unique!
10/10
I read the entire manga while listening to this loop. and every single page of every chapter fits in perfectly. the good times and the bad: this song IS Berserk. it gives me goosebumps
Berserk, you broke my heart several times just to make it stronger than it ever was before. Thank you for that.
For me, Vagabond and Berserk will always be the top manga ever, with each one I couldn't stop reading them... maybe 10, 20 or 25 caps per day, I can't imagine a better charachter development, ambient and epicness better than those 2 that I've alredy mentioned... BTW this music is amazing, epic, fantasy and nostalgic, all mixed together...
Well said
Yes!
I agree. If anyone has read the manga, Puck calls him "Gatts" or in the Japanese version, his name is actually spelled out (in English phonetics) as "Gatsu" but the 'U' is silent when pronounced in the actual Japanese language.
My favourite piece of music from the anime. Glad to know it's Guts's theme.
+Sam Green its actually called gatsu.
Xan Thrax Yeah Gatsu is hepburn romanization for Guts.
me too dood
whenever it wpuld play i would almost get chills hahah
I always thought this song was out of place in the shows image and general feel, such a soothing song with a cryptic way of relieving you of your worldly problems. Still the way they introduced it made it seem so natural that in the show it seems to slip in underneath you, until the male's chanting catches you off guard. I think the music in berserk keeps it from ever going dull and it's one of the many reasons I love and always will love it.
that male chanting is done by the composer himself
really? Interesting
Xiao Yu I love his voice in this song.
GRIFFITH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Listening to this song while you think of Guts and all the pain he pass... * cries *
The story gets worse for Guts. Cry even more intensely
"You're going to be all right. You just stumbled over a stone in the road. It means nothing. Your goal lies far beyond this. Doesn't it? I'm sure you'll overcome this. You'll walk again ... soon."
True. That's one of the things that makes him such an awesome character. It was the part after the eclipse in the manga where he fights the ghouls with the Skull Knight beside him with one hand and says something along the lines of "fate can go fuck itself, I'll kill them all" that I realized he was the most badass fictional character ever.
Thanks man. I listen to this song and I just believe that there are Gods out there. With the manifestation of beauty. This manga/anime has changed my life. I know it's changed many lives as well. Gutt's theme will forever be the essence of strife. These emotions that I feel. They're terrifying yet beautiful. Thank you, again...
This track will stay with me forever
Guts theme is beautiful & haunting.
I relapsed and this is all I think about
we meet again and me too
MY LOVE FOR YOU IS LIKE A TRUCK
BEEEEEERSERKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER
RockDaHouse690 Did he just say..."making fuck"?
Susumu Hirasawa is such a genius at making music "whips tears"
It shows what Gatsu was, and his decline to madness. Absolutely brilliant.
"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings." - Albert Einstein. And for the record, what I've said is no different than what Einstein believed. I have NEVER in my arguments said that God interferes with our actions and fates. I just believe that there are Gods out there with the manifestation of beauty. Both of you need to read more closely.
Just finished watching the anime without hearing any spoilers and I am shocked, saddened and angered all at the same time. I cant believe how it ended, I wasn't expecting that kind of end to a truly great anime. This haunting song is gonna stick with me for a while. Now I gotta read to read the manga.to see what happened next!
I wish we could get another anime to Beserk similar to how Hunter x Hunter got a new one in 2011. Theres just not enough time to fit all of the content into movies.
Well, you got what you wanted.
I love this song, no words can describe what emotions it conveys.
I just watched the anime and movies, I've got to say this has to be one of the greatest stories ever. The characters are so...so real and amazing. I don't have words to describe how epic Guts is, strength of 100-man, heart of a lion and soul of a man.
I have to read the manga now, that ending in the anime fucking threw my heart out and raped it in the aorta.
And faaaaaaaaaaaawk this music....the feels man..the feels.
It's okay to cry when you read all the manga (which hasn't moved in years) watched the original anime and then the movies right?
the feels
my boy cant go to sleep without hearing this song. i think it keeps the nightmares away, perhaps his own personal guts looking out for him.
To think.... this is Guts very soul. Tumultuous, pained, hurt.... but he does have a heart! A soul!
He is human and will fight forever to protect that raw humanity....
The looping of his theme only strengthens this essence to me.
2016 return of berserk anime! HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL
Ah, this aged like milk
@@sweetcinnamonpnchkin :( Ugh you had to remind me!.
Betrayal and revenge are major themes in the series. Guts suffered his first betrayal when Gambino sold Guts' body to another soldier for a few coins. Guts is in a quest for revenge after his comrades were betrayed by Griffith and sacrificed by the God Hand.
Guts: the representation and the manifestation of the raw human determination to simply live that can and will not just face gods but bring them to their knees and make them beg to continue existing among humanity, love and hate, victory and despair, perfectly together in a beautiful and brutal existence. Harmony.
Does anyone else use this song to fall asleep?
Thanks to the person who so cleverly and adeptly edited this piece. And thanks to all Berserk fans who keep it alive.
I just listened to this whole song. So calming
Rest in Peace Miura, you legend.
A good father goes out of their way to show their child true beauty, just like this amazing song. Respect man.
3:27 makes me cry ;(
Wow. Just wow. I could listen to this song all day. Berserk is the best of all time.
this is so crazy off the top emotional its almost funny, if it weren't so well done.
Ending of the anime shocked me
This track and Behelit raised the bar to new levels of epic.
This is haunting....
I hope they keep this theme in the new anime!
+Alex R That would be aweswome!
i would really like it if they kept the animation the same as the golden age arc.. i like the old animation style of anime..
+Alex R Let's start a movement to get them to use this! xD
You poor, poor people.
A moment of silence...........
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. now every game i play, it gets 110% more interesting.
I saw the movie. It was absolutely stunning. The visuals were like nothing I've ever seen in anime or anime movie. It's definitely a huge step forward in the Berserk universe, but PLEASE EVERYONE LISTEN, do NOT watch the movies without reading the manga or watching the ORIGINAL series first! You will not understand the movie or truly get the full experience if you don't.
powerful song!
That’s an understatement but accurate to say the least
This song on loop is exactly what I needed. So beautiful. One of the best shows and probably THE best comic I've ever read. (I'll be able to tell for sure when the comic concludes!) I feel so much sympathy and admiration for the main character. Since catching up to the last installment, I can't help but go back and re read all of my favorite parts.
hah there wont be a conclusion, guts is an invincible warrior who can outlive the greatest hardships, he will even outlive the author :(
frosty baconsauce how old is the author?
Gabriel Ferreira I believe he's 48
still very young then, no nerd to worry i suppose
Frosty is right lol, like dude has been releasing a chapter a year and it'll easily take 100 chapters to wrap up berserk, him, gabe newell and George rr Martin are prob all just sitting around toking and eating cheatos talking about how they'll never end their legacies
Man I love Berserk so much. I haven't ever seen any anime as near perfect as this.
Am i the only one who often just sit´s for myself in my room just thinking when hearing this song?
The only thing that cross my mind is beautiful simply beautiful!
NocteusLucium and peoplearemessedup. Listening to this song while reading your "conversation" is beautiful. You two have captured the emotions I feel when listening to this song. I almost cried :)...
One the best loops in Anime history!
This gorgeous song does things to me that I cannot describe with words. It puts you in a trance. Thank you for sharing!
Listening to this..i now know what made guts a demon-killing-paintaking-berserk-awesome-fighting machine...His latent, innate desire for happiness or love from the 1st chapter you can see what kept him going was his desire to be human,to love and im not talking about twilight love but real hard manly love..and he knows in his heart in order for that flaming love to shine he must extinguish the darkness surrounding it
Have you ever wanted to heard "Guts" played continuously for the duration of an entire episode of Berserk?? Now you can!! (And I certainly will. Many times.)
One of the best I have seen for sure. It has several flaws but I hardly get that emotional and attached.
"there's someone i want to meet" hit me hard.
This song plays when you realize how much Miura is ''on break''... Please Lord all Mighty come back and show us the beautiful landscapes, nature, world, creatures, UAAAHHHHH
Right??? I mean shit, if your going to make a godlike story. At least keep it going, I mean you don't see one piece taking any breaks. And that show is terrible!!
+Sam Wallace One Piece is amazing. Not including the Anime...
This song is beautiful -tears in eyes- every time I hear it in the Anime I began to cry . This song touches my heart -3 which is really hard to do!
RIP and thank you Kentaro Miura
There is a massive range of anime with many different styles anyway. Some of them do follow an episodic format, like Cowboy Bebop. There's something for everyone really. I don't see why anyone would prejudge the whole medium based on a few art shots.
This is possibly the greatest comment in the history of RUclips, well done sir!
Rereading berserk for the 4rth time, and I always come back to this song...this bittersweet feeling, is so overwhelming and soothing. Damn, this is some epic track for such an amazing tale.
this music for relex...so good...very good...I love Gutts
Thank you for making this looped music. I'm rereading Berserk while listening to this.
If you realize the truth, that Guts is only a man, and what do we find inside of a man, his nucleus. Guts had a will to fight forever to protect that raw humanity' and also a will to fight when ever he was bored or didn't know what to do.
The looping of this theme, strengthens the music, and makes it more lengthy.
twenty minutes of loveliness! masterpiece
Susumu Hirasawa is such a musical genius, I feel at peace every time I listen to this song
Albert Einstein did not believe in a god, he thought a god was a childish concept. Emotions exist as tools, they have survival value. It's not depressing to think that there are no gods. It sets you free, every moment matters and what you do on earth has real impact.
Guts and Griffith, one lived for the journey and one for the destination.
Griffith had a firm goal and was willing to do anything to achieve it no matter the price he or his friends had to pay. This is shown in more then just the way he acts during the eclipse. Griffith did not hesitate to stoop to murder and lay with nobles to reach the castle of his dream, as if nothing but that goal was sacred. Everything else was just a pebble on the roadside.
Gut's never knew his destination, and never saw a castle, but always searched for it, and on that path he refused doing anything that betrayed his beliefs. He valued his freedom, and stood up for his allies. Guts is characterized by relentless refusal to back down or give in. He'd rather die then live by someone else's rules. But just what are his own rules? The things guts fight for seem to change, but whatever it is, he never betrays it. In spite of not having a dream of his own, the sheer strenght with which he resists those who would hurt or control him, makes him the kind of strong person that people flock around. In the post-eclipse part of the series, I think the way people describe Gut's as the fire that stands up to the darkness, and a relentless struggle who refuses to give up his humanity, is quite similar to the way Griffith was described as the biggest bonfire that others gathered around to keep their own little torches lit. Guts is the greatest of his kind, the greatest struggler and survivor. His path in life may bend, but his actions bend to no other mans will. Griffith was the greatest dreamer whose path never bends but whose actions bend to the will of others, all to reach that castle. To guts, there is no castle. There is only the road. He is not like Griffith, blazing though life like a bonfire, but more like an immovable rock. The biggest pebble down the roadside that Griffith ever ran into.
Berserk seems to like splitting motives that by common sense and tradition, especially in manga, are paired together. It separates the commonly coupled motives of friendship/love and ambition/dreams, and instead force the main characters to choose one or there other. Girffith chooses for dreams over friendship and Guts chooses friendship over dreams.
And it also separates the commonly coupled character traits great ambition and strong will, where Gut's in spite of having no strong aspirations and being in constant doubt and regret about the choices he's made, has a stronger will then anyone.
Berserk is primarily a manga. The anime was started after, and is based off the first arc.
Me duele en el alma la partida de Miura
Berserk siempre será mi manga favorito.
I cant oppose you in this option. This takes me back to the sceen where Guts tells Kaska that nearly ewerybody have a chance for a peacefull life, while he only knows how to fight on the battlefield.
Good song for Guts. A good song overall for people who struggle in this crazy, messed up world. Just like Guttsu.
personally one of my favourite tracks from the whole anime, have been listening to this years before watching the anime itself
I would definitely read the manga if you want more berserk, the anime pretty much just coveres a small portion of the entire story, and its still (slowly albeit) going.
Man if they ever made a high budget live action Berserk TV series similar to Game of Thrones, I would LOVE to hear an orchestrated version of this in the series.
The sound of a lost warrior who finally found a place he belongs.
Playing this in the background while reading the manga is highly recommended! Doing it right now haha
