The original of 'Baby do you wanna bump' is the instrumental 'Hey dakar' of Exodus. Frank Farian gave it words. 'Hey dakar' was the b-side of 'Africa', which was a cover of 'Africa' by Albatros, made famous by Joe Dassin as L'été indien', the summer song of 1975. So, Frank Farian found a song to jump on the short-lived bump craze in 1974/1975. Other interesting bump-songs are 'the bump' of the Commodores (1974) and the glam-rocking 'the bump' by Kenny (1975). Having a hit song in Holland in 1976, Frank Farian had to find performers for the pop television show Toppop. That's this video of Boney M.
The bump craze started in November 1974 but lasted until May 1976. Toppop did date this performance wrong: it charted in December 1975 until February 1976.
This is the pre-Liz Mitchell era Boney M (actually Mark II). Bobby and Maizie Williams were just dancers never sang on records. Marcia Barrett was the only singer for a while but did not sing on this track.

@phillydisco yes, in falsetto. I was trying to find any other lyrics that would have been in falsetto and it was only the supposed female vocals. I have a co-worker from Yugo who loves Boney M, they were huge in Europe in the 70s. Farian really was a clever producer but it had to be somewhat degrading for the performers that were masquerading as singers. Who really wants to come forward when they're strapped for cash and a certain career-ending move? No matter how deceptive it may be, I don't think it was necessarily wrong or illegal; consider professional wrestling (entertainment) or Gorillaz and various other illusions in entertainment. I think this particular vocal performance could have been easily performed by the people in the video but that would mean giving them credit and royalties. Frank Farian is a prime example of an opportunistic hack but he did a lot of footwork to understanding what sells, perhaps that's how he justified his practice. He found poor black entertainers in Germany and gave them an opportunity to make a lot of money in hopes they would be recognized for their skills. This is happening in other industries in other countries on a large scale but it's hardly a matter of racism and more about greed, opportunity and timing. She's crazy like a fool, what about it Daddy Cool?
I love watching this guy dance! He's so funny! (Bobby Farrell). What a guy!
