    This just popped up, so I watched it. I own one as well. Have for a couple years. I noticed when I turn the Master volume up at least half way then turn the channel volume down it really brings out the Tube gain man... The power amp side... Been getting some cool tones here lately... Crank that master volume and control the room volume with the channel volume.. I have to turn the speaker off so I record with the direct out... I use some IR's for the speaker tone... really versatile amp man! Awesome for recording metal tones. Been experimenting on the clean stuff too...

    great amp, sold my 6505 for this and wont change it for anything

  • @merlinzest
    @merlinzest 6 лет назад +6

    Love the sound. Isn't massively in your face metal tone (which tbh is a nice change to my ears at the moment).
    But it sounds clear and focused. Very warm tone that i'd love to use for moderate gain stuff for sure!
    I would love to hear someone like Nick Johnston play his strat through that.
    I think the strat spank and warm amp tone would blend into mouth watering goodness.

      If he wasn't picking hard it would probably sound a lot less gnarly. H&K amps are great in any context

    • @JohnBrownemonuments
      @JohnBrownemonuments  6 лет назад +5

      I mixed this on NS10s and with the gnarly cold/flu thing that's going around my ears have been extra sensitive in the 2-6krange haha
      It's definitely a really aggressive sounding amp.

    Love to see a video with this amp going DI into an interface and the way the toggles on the red box change the sound. This amp is very tempting especially now that they're making a rack kit for it.

    Traded a Mesa Boogie Single Recto 50 for this amp believe it or not. Got the whole package too. Amp, case, pedal, and MIDI adapter for the ipad app. Just a freaking steal. I am running a multiband compressor pedal in the effects loop to give more definition in the lows, which is assignable to the preset you are on. This is wonderful. I hated using a TS and having to kill it when i went to clean AND change the channel. I absolutely hate being a tapdancer just to switch sounds. I am not a professional who has a tech who does everything for them. It sounds pretty sick going into my Carvin Steve Via 4x12 with greenbacks. Had oodles of pedals, and AVID 11 rack, and a Bias Mini amp. Scrapped it all. My sound has never been this easy.

    sick! kinda like the incevtice it packs way more features than your standard tube head. also that might be because of the insane versatility with modellers, manufacturers are trying to make tube amps more interesting again. glad to see that and I doubt tube amps will die anytime soon. love the preset name!

    Great demo.
    I used to have the H&K Trilogy. A very solid amp; In my opinion all of their amps are fantastics toolboxes with very neutral and easy to shape sounds.
    This one is even coupled with its own effects.
    Downside for me, it's made in China. If I'm correct their 100W heads are made in Germany.

    I don't know, there are two things in that demo that reminded me of Dethklok: that bend at the end of the solo (and sound of solo guitar in particular -somewhat reminiscent to that on Dethalbum I) and a shitload of harmonized guitars in the background. Really well done. BTW, it also a good demonstration how one can achieve a Dethklok sound with that amp.

    I have this amp and I simply LOVE it. I just wish I had his mic set up to record as opposed to recording via the DI box. As for this amp, it just sounds amazing and has just about every possible thing you could want: Effects, Noise gate, DI box, Speaker emulator, Boost button, 4 channels, built in attenuator go from silent recording mode, 1 watt, 20 watts to 40 watts and it's compact and easy to take with you. I wish it came with the WiFi adapter....shit was not cheap to buy. Overall, this is my favorite tube amp.

    Excellent demo, but your leads on intro, need a couple dBs, WADR.
    You’re good enough to be that loud.
    It could just be RUclips, though.
    I GOTTA get one of these, & in communications w/ H&K, they’re thinking about a STEREO model!

    Should've just used the Red Box to direct out that is built into the head instead of worrying about mic'ing things up. This allows for the amp to be used in silent recording or practice

    Hi John, I have just got the GM 40 from few days but unfortunately I can't obtain the same sound you showed us in this video. I'm using a JP11 music man guitar with a celestion g30 vintage 1x12. CLEAN are ok, but LEAD sounds generally kneading the notes and what I have is an annoyng disturbing sound in particular when I play the chords free that seems similar to the propeller of a helicopter (I suppose you have understood what I mean )
    Could you plaese advice about it or suggest how to improve
    What's wrong and why I can't have the same controlled sound here
    thanks for your attention
    Have a nice evening
    Alberto

      I've thought about one of those as well. i'm also debating just getting the new 5150iii 50 el34 and getting a torpedo reactor. and just use the wall of sound plugin with it. whatever is the easiest. lol

    Like always...amazing video! SO SICK! About this amps...very good features. Love the Noise Gate, the boost section and the Red Box but the sound it's so "cold"...maybe great for modern metal but not for everything and this is the point. Many features, many FX but the same type of "flat" sound??? A lot of money in my opinion for this amps...for 200/300$ you can buy used Line 6 Spider Valve MKII HD 100W amps or Bogner Alchemist and you can buy a LOT of pedals if you need flexibility!

    • @JohnBrownemonuments

      mercuryfaith I feel like after a certain price point it's all personal preference.

    I really like your demos, your tone and playing syles are great, but why do you edit the videos so hard in the talking bits. Almost afer each sentence...it makes the vids robotic and sterile. Show a little more feeling dude! If its great gear tell us with enthusiasm. But it seems you're indifferent to every new piece of gear...
