how many tours of two cities are there? at 99 cents per ticket with 4 tickets per tour, you can quickly add up how much mvm makes even from just the top 100 players in terms of tours completed.
And mecha engine. And Gear Grinder. And Oil Spill. And Steel Trap. Two cities has the most players, but the big spenders are the mecha engine and gear grinder players ^^. You are probably safe with the assumption that about 2.5 x the amount of two cities tours are completed in all other tours combined. SO ALOT of tickets. Sadly its impossible to track down how many mvm tours were completed, unless you also assume a certain australium drop chance and then check how many australiums exist. Dont think theres an exact percentage of that tho. In addition to the already crazy ticket sale number, two cities has the habbit of SHITTING your inventory full of items that dont really sell anywhere aside from the community market. Where steam also takes 10% cut. So all those fabricators and killstreak kits and robo parts add even more revenue for valve.
That part when you were talking about the 2011 naughty crates... Gotta admit, it kinda bums me out that a virtual set of christmas lights has made more money in 9 years than all the labour I will ever perform throughout my entire life will earn me.
Very interesting video! When I buy keys to unbox (I only unbox cases and I also make sure to tip map makers when buying from the mann co store) I like to think I'm funding the work of talented people from our community who have dedicated time and effort to submit amazing items (be it cosmetics or maps) through the workshop. I know only a small fraction of the profits is given by Valve to these people, but it is better than nothing. That's my rationale for still opening some cases from time to time.
I like the rationale, but I am planning on expounding on this with an upcoming video on how unfair cases are to creators. Originally, a creator would get 20% of a sale directly on the Mann Co. Store. If something is $5, they get $1 per sale. And if 50,000 players buy it, that's $50k right there. But now it's 20% of a key profit split across 7-10 different creators, so really they make like 2% off of each 2.50 key sale. It sucks.
The only place I buy keys is off marketplace.tf because they are undercut probably by 50 cents compared to the community market which is still lower than actually buying it from steam itself
Holy crap this must have taken a long time to make. I met you in that frontier match so I decided to check in on your channel. This was an interesting and well done video.
Btw I hope this video takes off and gets a ton of attention but if I could make one critique is that the thumbnail is not really good or attractive and should be changed to some SFM thumbnail. Sorry but I think that's what reels in viewers.
thousands of keys are bought in steam community market in just 24 hours. they make thousands per day also cause of mann co store and other community items and people who still buy orange box
Glad to see you back. TBH, if you did more of your monologues with background footage (drawing, whatever) I'll always click. I appreciate the positivity you try to distribute.
Cosmic... All you needed was a headphone with mic on and paint the head white any you would have had a Universal Translator, no unboxing required. Not sure if you could trade it tho
11:04, I think you'd also wanna censor the part in your search history where it says "Shop our high quality hand-made fantasy sex toys and dildos | Bad Dragon." Just a thought Cosmic.
Valve has long since moved on from TF2. The whole reason they release crates at all is to get them dollar bills. If it weren't for the cash the game makes, they'd drop support.
No, you can look in the Steam FAQ about taxing. To my knowledge, it's not changed from the numbers stated in the vid. That being said, I made it clear that bumping the numbers like I did was to provide absolutely no doubt that even when the numbers are MORE in the players favor, the amount of crates it would require to reach it is still insane. Furthermore, I go later and adjust the numbers to the flat amounts to give more perspective. I'm confident you didn't watch the whole video- and if you did, you might not have been paying attention then.
