Lol, that's how I got my F150 for $1000...took a day to replace the heater, then another to flush all the garbage out of the system before reconnecting the hoses. Most common cause of failed heater cores is galvanic corrosion caused by improper grounding along with failing to change the coolant out once every year or so...
Great video. You might want to tell people they can change out the heater core without draining the AC. Your video was excellent made the job very easy. Thank you.
I was intimidate after watching this, but it’s really not that bad! Thanks for the video it’s actually very informative. Some details lost in the edit… the start is great, the end tapers off, there are more nuts holding the heater box in. Also, imo take the time to pull the carpet so you can actually pull the dash, would be time well spent to to not fight it. Thank you for the video it helped me a lot
About to do my second one in a week and the job calls for 9 hours. This man made my life easy. Was able to do it in 5 hours minus recharge time. Thank you buddy! Making my boss a happy man. And me a better tech.
I started smelling coolant in my cab today and found a puddle in my passenger weather tech. I wasn't looking forward to it before your video, but now I may just move somewhere I don't need it.

here I was saw the title and thought it was a do it in 15min trick. I'm about to do the AC evaporator core on my '12 1500. I've seen enough videos I think may be able to cheat and disassemble the blower/recirc end of the hvac box without pulling the dash.. may break a few of the back side clips, but that's why they invented rtv.
I’ll save you a ton of time. Just drop the steering column on the floor, no need to pull it. Just take the battery out. No need to remove the coolant reservoir, just recharge around and remove the nut.
@@lavnil85 remove the battery. That should give you enough room to get the one “stud” nut behind the coolant reservoir. If you have big arms it may be a problem. If so do the fender well trick
I did this once on a 96 Grand am I had. Worst job ever ever in your driveway in winter. I have a 2020 Longhorn now. I dread the day I have this problem. There has got to be a way for manufacturers to create a heatercore access panel to avoid all of that.

That was a horrible job to have to do. Probably easier to remove the engine, transmission, firewall, and the driver's side duals. Yuck. You did a good job. You did a great job filming it; filming it wasn't easy. Thank you.
I felt the video feel short of some information. Right from leaning the dash back to a loose air box to a reinstalled dash. What the heck happenes in between. I assume the dash came out of the truck? The air box came out. I got nothing from thos video...
37,000 other viewers got something out of it, if you fallow the steps its very basic, straight forwards on how to get it out, if you sit on your couch and critique your not getting entertainment out a video like this
Do you absolutely have to remove the freon to do this? I keep getting a check engine light for low coolant temp and only my passenger side vents get hot and idk if it's because of the thermostat or the heater core. How do I further diagnose it?
That is beyond ridiculous the amount of work it takes to change the heater core. I need to do exactly this to my 3500….. I’m having second thoughts now

No need to take coolant bottle out. You can access the nut with a 1/4 flex ratchet and a 10mm socket from in between fender and coolant tank
