Really if Rian Johnson wanted to subvert expectaions all he had to do was make a good Star Wars movie and make sure no one said I have a bad feeling about this the entire movie
I have a BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD feeling about this
"It never does." 😂 There's so much despondency in the Battle Droids' lines, they're either unrealistically optimistic or nihilistic. It's fantastic writing!!
They whould go that far to tie in a random line that at the time was a random planet from a sentence and a half of dialogue did they construct that entire arc just to put the moons of iego into the picture
29:19 Never fails to give me goosebumps everytime when Vader enters the temple after Ahsoka left. Really shows that Padme dying wasn't the only reason why Anakin turned.
My Dad, being a true child of the 80s, tells us to “Cut the chatter” or to “Stay on target” a lot. Edit: and when my Mom forgets her phone, he tells her, “This weapon is your life”
25:36 this is why I love Obi-Wan. After everything Maul did to him, Obi-Wan holds him in death the exact same way he held his master and lover, as if there is no separation between the three. Stuff like that is what makes Obi-Wan the perfect Jedi and an all-round great character.
27:25 I've always loved that line. When Obi-Wan is about kill him and he says "A Jedi wouldn't kill me" and then Rex kills him and says "I am no Jedi". Vader says "Revenge is not the Jedi way" and Ahsoka says "I am no Jedi". It's pretty awesome.
16:29 man those screams from anakin in clone wars and anakin in revenge of the sith are so similar And at 27:17 anakin is even still teaching his padawan lessons even after they both aren’t jedi
My master died in my arms, Satine died in my arms, my apprentice turned to the dark side, and killed all my friends at the jedi temple (including kids), and then I was forced to cut him in half and left him to burn to death. and then I stayed on a desert isolated for years, and I did not turn to the dark side. Those who oppose the dark side are stronger than those who embrace it. I was always stronger than Anakin because he gave in, he allowed himself to become a pawn, I never turned and I lost everything. I am the strongest character in Star Wars.
5:43-6:03 From Kenobi, to Grievous, to Cad Bane, to even Ezra Bridger. I guess the "Hello There" quote happens to pass on throughout the Star Wars history
0:16 So Ahsoka was the first to say that line chronologically, huh? *She can't do that! Shoot her, or something!* In honesty though, this just means that Anakin saying it in ROTS is a retroactive reference to her. TL;DR, Ahsoka got mentioned in ROTS!
"Attachment talk in the elevator" XD Lol it's like the Star Wars version of "the talk". Picture this: "Anakin, I believe it's time we had 'the talk.'" "The talk, Master?" "Yes. Come with me." [They board an elevator.] "Why are we in the elevator, Master?" "Because this is where we're supposed to have 'the talk.' Now, Anakin, when Jedi fall in love they . . ." "Oh I know this one. They have sex." "[Obi-Wan blushes] No they must bury their emotions deep down because attachment is a bad idea."
When you realize Ahsoka Tano was the first one to say the line "This is where the fun begins" chronologically (circa Clone Wars pilot movie, 2008), so Anakin's use of the same phrase is not only a retroactive reference to her, but reflecting of the fact that he was very happy to see Ahsoka again.
There was also the Twilight being the Spice Freighter that Uncle Owen claimed that Luke's father piloted and the fact that Obi-Wan used the codename "Ben" during the Rako Hardeen business
Don't know if this merely a coincidence or not but in the episode 'Ghosts of Mortis' after Obi Wan confronts him Anakin says, 'You will try to stop me'. I always took this as reference to ROTS where Anakin says 'You will try' after Obi Wan says that he will do what he must. Don't know if I'm the first to point this out but just saying if not.
You do the best SW videos by far. The way you cross all media types and show the whole franchise is second to none. I love how you give equal weight to the movies, tv shows (even OG clone Wars), videogames etc. Really makes the universe feel connected seeing it all side by side.
What's nice is that those reference were never so aeavy as to cloak the story. THey are very well integrated to the stories and pathing and rarely feel out of place.
I love how you can see how the teachings go from master to apprentice to master to apprentice. I also love the contrasts between Republic and Empire and the contrasts between the prequel villains and Vader.
What I love about Anakin and Ahsoka is that when everyone says " there is no such thing as luck" before every battle they say good luck to each other. Like on the last episodes of clone wars.
I love how 90% of the time when they say "I have a bad feeling about this", they sound rejected, like they've already accepted that something will happen, that gets me every time
