    Can't you remove the tie rods and then find the center of the box?

      Yes, you could. What I realized in putting everything back together is the range of travel of the box (with everything disconnected) could be centered but when all is re attached you may have less movement (i.e., steering stops, rubs, other issues, etc.). At the end of the day I found it as crucial to find the “rough center point” of the full range of motion and then center your wheel. Sometimes the wheel could be slightly off. If its not too bad thats fine and then they center wheel (near center of rack) and align car. If you are way off you may have to re clock the wheel.
      I ended up doing a home alignment before taking it in to a shop and got it pretty close.

      @@truckandroll989 That's what i just did. I did not realize that turning the wheel with the motor not running would build up pressure in the power steering reservoir and piss ATF across my garage. I learnt something today.🤣 After that i removed the cap and it was fine. I had 3.75 turns from lock to lock with nothing attached.
