- I was pulled over for having a burnt out headlight so here's my fix. The Chevy Traverse isn't the easiest headlight bulb to replace - see my change out of the headlight bulb on my Chevy Silverado toward the end of the video for a super easy comparison.

Whoever the engineer was on the 2014 Traverse for headlight replacement has quickly climbed up on my list of enemies.....unless you take off the tire entirely (no pun intended) this job is a royal pain in the ass...err....forearm. Pulling back the plastic cover enough to get your arms up in there is a killer, especially in the cold. Fixed the passenger side about 2 months ago, and of course, like clockwork, the wife comes home last night and the driver side is out. Finally got it but man alive is my right forearm scraped to all hell - grr....thanks for the video though, this is exactly how I did it, well, with added pain and discomfort that is! haha
Totally agree! My Chevy Silverado pickup is a dream compared to the Traverse bulb changing!! Thanks for watching!
This helped me so much!! $16 and a pinched finger is better than the $60 the dealer quoted me!!
Wow! $60 is a lot. Glad it helped and sorry about your finger! Thanks for watching!
Really thorough and well done. Thank you for providing this service!
Thanks! Glad that it was helpful!
Very helpful, thanks!
Very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Twice I handed over $140.00 for this repair. Each side burned out one year apart. Yesterday the 2 year bulb went out and I said enough! And changed it myself. The auto parts store perpetuates the idea that one must take the car into an auto repair shop so they can remove the whole front end. My repair shop should have replaced BOTH bulbs since they had this much labor invested into this repair. They did not and therefore I was back again one year later. But....here is the kicker - the most difficult part of doing the bulb change myself was dealing with the stripped Torx screw head which indicated to me that they had done the 15 min repair in the very same way as your video that they charged me two hours of labor and a lost day waiting for my car to be repaired. This 60 year old white haired lady thanks you and all the others who post video’s that help people like me save time and money. It is much appreciated!
Everyone of these videos showing low beam is actually the high beam bulb. It is covered. The low beam lamp is the outside lamp.
My low beam was out so that is the one I replaced in the video. Thanks for watching! And btw, the low beam worked great when I was done!
Great video Thank you just did mine this way took me about 20 minutes my first time doing both sides I would recommend spraying WD40 on the screws the driver side was the hardest one for me I don't know why others are saying to remove more than you have to yes this is way easier but a lot tighter lol Thank you again
Glad that it helped! Thanks for watching!
Always replace them in pairs. As one goes, so does the other one because it is working harder to compensate for two.
Brother that makes no sense
@antuanperez426 well do it your way then. Don't say I didn't warn you.
@@psychodad4634 I have done it my way for years 🤣 Don’t give people advice if you don’t understand it
@antuanperez426 well keep doing it your way, and I'll do it my way. Good and blessed day sir. Goodbye
I replaced the one and then a year later I replaced the same one again. Sheesh!! Thanks for watching!
U can look through the head light lens and see where you line up the bulb… just a tip :)
Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!
Good job. Not a good idea to only replace one bulb.
I've heard that before but I have a hard time tossing a perfectly good bulb away. I'd rather wait until it goes out to replace it - and it's still going strong! Thanks for watching!
As a 40 year retired GM technician I can't tell you how many time we have at customer request replaced only one head light only to have them back in less than a month with the other light out.
I understand - don't doubt it a bit - but for me it's the same effort if I change them both right then or if I wait and change them individually when they actually burn out. Saves a little money and the time for me is the same. If you're payinmg someone to do it, it probably pays off to have that person do them both due to a reduced labor cost.
Way to make it easy to replace a lightbulb, Chevy! 🙄
Oh yeah! Thanks for watching!
AggressiveFun I do appreciate your video here though. I gave it a like 👍
My 2011 malibu requires the entire front end to be removed 😂 this us a god send in comparison
AggressiveFun hey thanks by the way. Changed my bulb over the weekend and this video was a big help!
@@faub3282 Glad it helped! Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching.
Anyone have their lights keep going out???
I had one that seemed to fail faster than expected but now they are working for a long period.
@@Aggressivefun yea I just replaced both of mine sunday, and 1 is already burnt out, I'm so pissed lol I guess it's just the electrical in it
@@alex22kenney Wow! I've not had that happen. Any chance the store where purchased will give you a refund? That sounds defective from the factory.
I changed mine 4 times within a year and found out my wire harness is burnt and needs to be replaced.
Wow! Haven't seen that problem. I just replaced both of mine with LEDs that have a 5 year warranty. We'll see what happens now!
