Thought about an idea if stasis for Gordon was actually as long as it felt

I believe the widely accepted theory is that there wasn't any time to even dwell on the nothingness of stasis. G-man put him in and before Gordon could even blink, 20 years went by.

and to this day Adrian Shepard is still in this same situation
well, if this whole 'through the city' mod actualy finishes...perhaps some day we will get to witness him again.
I like how people have recently portrayed Gordon as an actual person with human emotions, rather as the stoic badass that everyone saw him as back in the day.
He's both. One doesn't have to forgo the other.
More like people have realised that stoic badass are still people that feel rage, sorrow and joy.
Those that hide their emotions usually feel the most.

It just hit me that from Gordon's perspective, he went from a train-car in the void to a train-car 20 years in the future. If I was Valve, I would've made HL2's opening train layout exactly the same as the one from HL1's end, meaning for Gordon the only change would be what's outside the windows.
Let's hope that, somehow, HL3 begins in a train cart. Even if it's supposed to be a helicopter.

@@wurlmon5191 hl2ep2 began in a train cart. so far we have a pattern, making it reasonable not to have a train cart start in hl3
Beautiful music and wonderful setting of the shot where it is clear that Gordon Freeman literally was not given a chance, because there was only one desired answer. You can see how he silently makes ends meet, and in the end his time comes.
Well to be honest his mission was to put a stop to nihilanth he already knew that he was going to die so gmans decision is what kept him alive

I like to imagine Gordon's ride at 0:55 had passed by Shephard's Osprey at one or several eternal-like moments
I like to think that Gordon was just experiencing the events of HL 1 on a loop in a dream like state during the whole duration of the stasis.
Could be a lore explanation of the mechanics of saving and loading

According to the HL2 Beta that's exactly what happened. There's a cut map about Gordon's stasis where he experiences a bit of HL1 and HL2 at the same time on a loop, until the GMAN wakes him up.
If we look at HL: Alyx(spoilers) we see something not considered.
Time travel.
Rather than be in stasis for 20 years, he was sent to various locations in different points in time. This would mean he would have aged normally but sent to the future on certain missions, like Lost Coast.

That’s…a terrifying thought. That would suggest that when Gordon woke up on the train entering City 17, he had, from his own perspective, only killed the Nihilanth 5 minutes beforehand.

he had a ponytail in the first half life also if he stayed awake 20 years straight his hair would grow unless there was a weird stasis time alteration

So wild to think Gordon was in stasis just living through all of those images of the aftermath, then steps onto a train to see the words Point Insertion then Valve floating in front of him.

I'm suddenly reminded of a comment a friend of mine made once in relation to how I drew mouths, that I had a thing for them. I know this is partly because I'm very used to Gordon's Source 2 model, but something about this model's mouth is a little bit weird, possibly his upper lip. The prominent inner corners of his mouth on the Source 2 model drive me up a wall, probably because the model itself is unfinished and a little bloodless there.
His hair looks great. Get up real close to his face and his eyebrows kill me, though. i'm so nitpicky
i like the idea gordon teleported above earth and saw the combine ships decend down to earth

I'm not sure if this is a reference to anything, but I love the subtext meaning at 1:32. Gordon looks tiny, like a speck of dust in space: at the same time, he's nothing but a pawn in a giant game of 5D Chess With Time Travel, a minor piece to be used and discarded.

I like to think that he didn't age for 20 or so years and that while in stasis he got to be in a nice apartment and take it VERY easy until he was called in again. Outside his window you'd see interdimensional weirdness though.

personal head cannon is that for gordon it was about a second in between hl 1 and hl2 (but ya know 20 years had passed) and for Adrian... Adrian shepherd is still awake... stuck in a never ending hell where he does not age. only time will tell if he is ever freed from that hell
