It's insane to me that this has still not been dealt with in the UK. We started compensating everyone annually by 1989 in Canada, by 1996 we had our official commission by 1998 compensation was announced and the blood donation system completely reformed. We charged people and the last payouts were in 2002 for people who were not included in the original group of victims who were infected in the 1970s. I cannot believe this is not dealt with. You give these people an early death sentence, many already dead, and then you fail to apologize and charge anyone and do your best to help them move on with their lives. This is disgusting. They test it now, the tranfusions they're speaking of in the 70s are not the same as a blood tranfusion that happens in 2024. You also cannot really decide whether you take the blood or not if you're in a situation where you require the blood to survive. You either decide to take it or you potentially die.
You're likely to be fine if you've had no ill effects to date. Hepatitis and HIV would have shown up long ago. I suppose you could request some tests and see where that goes, I would guess nowhere but not much else I can think of.
