00:40 Allegro ma non troppo
21:05 Adagio
34:30 Scherzo. Presto. Trio. Andante sostenuto.
44:29 Allegretto
One of the most beautiful quintets created ever. Such partitur needs passionate musicians like this outstanding ensemble. Bravissimo
per me è il migliore
Fine performance of this great quintet. It was Schubert who made me appreciate chamber music.
Lost count of how many times I have listened to this .....and there will be more!
Schubert,- the grand- master of our soul ! - Transcendent,- to the universe,- our self. -Janine is a divine priest !
The crescendo leading up to the key change to B major in the scherzo movement was simply awesome. Their bodies even synchronised. Amazing passion
Inspiring passion.
Amazing performance! This piece can't possibly have been written by a human being!
21:06 Adagio
34:30 Scherzo
38:33 Trio
44:28 Alegretto
Beautiful playing, the quintet group seemed to have a good time playing this timeless music, The Dover quartet version is absolutely amazing.
Especially the second movement is a piece of genius, pure consolation for the pain of life.
It is all a piece of genius, in the superlative form.
It´s marvelous, but I feel it like the enormous sadness if Shubert before he died. Abandoned, extremely ill, poor, underscored, God how much suffering.
"pure consolation for the pain of life." -- Your language brings me back. My grandmother was this eloquent. She was raised in Grunewald before World War l.
II part is probably the most sublime and moving piece by Schubert, or even in the whole string and chamber
music repertoire. It brings me to tears each time. So much emotions and human soul in it...
Finally! Finally! This quintet so often sounds like a group of five soloists. THIS performance sounds like a perfectly balanced ENSEMBLE. The voicing was superb throughout. Kudos to all involved
It was like five singers are in harmony.
Sublime
This is simply a magnificent performance from start to finish. The slow movement in particular played a little more rapidly than is common, has wonderful forward momentum and, because the players adhere scrupulously to Schubert's dynamic markings, all of the heart-breaking pathos that is in the music. The Quintet has its lively and rumbustuous moments, especially in the Scherzo, but tragedy is never very far away ; the date of its composition was probably August or September of 1828 ; Schubert died, aged 31, in November. The greatest praise you can give this performance is that the players do this extraordinary and unique work full justice.
Superb! A jewel of a piece, played in perfect harmony.
I was brought here by youtube right after another video with the same music played by a different group. Boy these five musicians brought this piece to life so well that I actually clicked on the browser to watch the video, instead of only listening to it! Proved how much differences interpretation can make to the score.
Wunderbare Aufführung, so differenziert klanglich, farblich. Danke!
Good performance. Five very talented young musicians. As far as I can see, none of them currently works together in the same quartet, etc, so the ensemble is exceptionally good. The viola player reminds me of the Finnish conductor Sakari Orama - he's got a childlike smile most of the time as he plays! And what an event for a place which only has 10,000 population.
grossartig
You seem to know your stuff - cool!
Thank you so much, Mrs Jansen for your *passion and enthusiasm!* This masterork's performance is magnificent, -- touching my heart every time I'm coming back. :-)
May God bless us such sacred passion and enthusiasm.
SIETE LE 5 PUNTE DI UNA STELLA DI SHUBERT. BRAVI GIOVANI!
I can't even describe how amazing this is!
Thanks!
Solemn and joyful. Nothing missing. Everybody tries their hand on this piece, but this is among the best.
absolutely enthralling. One tends to forget the towering figure that Schubert is. He took Beethoven's music a step further.
Wonderful performance!!!
This is a remarkable performance of this incredible piece. Written in the last months of Schubert's life,, it's difficult not to hear in it an awareness of the nearness of death. The poignant tragedy of the second movement is almost palpable. This performance approaches the ideal of chamber music, an intense communion of musicians, delving into the heart of this great piece. Watching their intense wordless communication as they play is a pleasure almost as great as the sounds they produce.
This video made my day!!!
That is the most wonderful performance. It's so sort of chewy and robust and then you have the parts which are sort of adrift and forlorn. What an amazing sound. Wowza all round including Schubert. It's a bit like late work by Picasso, it goes beyond normal scope into its own sphere of creative brilliance.
What lovely writing you shared, Betty!
Bravo janine and company
Tks so much..
Great performance !
They’re all so amazing, i was mesmerized by the beauty of the violists playing
First classical listening of '19.
Excellent...

Such a beautiful present
Beautiful performance
The beauty in 25:06 hits me....
Perfekte Interpretation des Werks!
Julia-Maria Kretz seems like a wonderful violinist.
Obra magnífica. Comovente, dilacerante. De beleza quase insuportável.
fantastic violist
In the Schubert catalogue, thus is D. 956, composed in what turned out to be his last year of life -- 1828 -- at the Oh-too-early age of 31, just shy of 32. To a string quartet, he added not a second viola, but a second cello.
Na, finally, all the musicians are listed! Too bad the acoustic quality suffers a bit. Simply fabulous performance of a most exquisite composition! Viva Schubert! Ach, how I would have loved to have been there. Next best thing? RUclips! Thanks from a live concert addict living in Vienna!

maravilloso , admirable
I came here because of Iain McGilchrist. He was perfectly correct.
Me also. Agreed. What an emotional adventure! In awe.
Szucs Mate,gratula!!!
ROBA X APPASSIONATI. COMPLIMENTI AL QUINTETTO.
