I truly love Nigeria and its people, but unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that my friends and I have encountered harassment from area boys. The most frustrating part is that this behavior has become so normalized that these individuals now act as if they own Lagos. It's disheartening to see how deeply embedded this problem has become. The real issue here is that these area boys are not law enforcement or government officials-they’re simply street thugs trying to assert power. For example, I passed right by a group of police officers while filming, and none of them bothered me. But these goons, who have no legitimate authority, took it upon themselves to harass us. It’s a situation that needs to be addressed and stopped.

Thanks, for your informative content. Beautiful video. For info; Lagos Nigeria has had a Railway system in place for over a century but the locomotive system, long before the advent of the electric train. The Nigerian Railway Corporation is 112 years old and it runs a unilaterally designed track system of 1067mm cape gauge. Only 30km of its track distribution is in double track and that is within Lagos area. Nigerian Railway System commenced rail business activities with the construction of the first rail line from Lagos to Ibadan (193km) between 1898 and 1901. By 1964 when the construction of 640km kano - Maiduguri rail line, then known as Bornu extension, was completed, the present core of the railway network had been put in place.

Unlike other parts of Nigeria, the agberos in Lagos are emboldened because they have some form of government support. So, it seems they're untouchable unfortunately. That's why an average Lagosian will tell you that it's normal. it mostly happens in the sketchy parts of town which is about 70% of Lagos. Sorry about your experience.

Our Africa tigress, thanks for the insight, about lagos you are amazing. Please keep in touch with William he is a true gentleman with a good heart. For the area boys they need to be put where they belong if the city, wants to maintain a very good reputation fo tourism in lagos.
If you don't settle Area boys in Lagos, they will waste your time and your day. Every idol man in every neighborhood hang around in bunch and call themselves the boys of the area. When you just walk on the street, no one will harass you but when you do some activities (like making a content) on the street of a neighborhood in Lagos, you must settle area boys or you will never do it at peace. Even if police get there, the area boys will stand and say it's their neighbourhood and you must pay something to film there. People just generally accept it as a norm so they can do their business in peace. The only good side of the area boys is that after settling them with some cash, the word goes around that you have settled and no one harasses you anymore. In fact, they act as your security to make sure you have your day in peace. They laugh and become your friend. But when you don't pay them anything, you will not film in peace. Each neighborhood has them in mainland. What we do in Lagos is to just find some change and give to them and have your filming in peace. That's why it seems kind of normalised. But it is illegitimate yet nothing can be done about it save to leave their neighbourhood or pay them something to film, sell, host a party, shoot a movie, etc in their neighbourhood. But this is just a Lagos phenomenon!
Everywhere in Black country aria's, also where I come from (Suriname) we have this problem. I live in Europa and here they don't do that kind of things. In Europa they respect women more than in there own country. And if you say something they don't like they feel it as discrimination. Very strange but True. Becarefull and enjoy life as much as you can. Love and blessings lady.❤❤
I have lived London all my life and if the young lady was filming in the area I'm from Hackney the youth would take her phone straight away, because they see it as this is there area and you can't just film in certain areas I don't know what European country you're in but gang culture runs London
It's very interesting to watch. I have not been to Nigeria in a little over 21 years. But I think the train station was built without having the physically challenged and wheelchair users in mind. Thanks for bringing this Tigress.

Good thing Williams was there to ease the tension. Intimidation is part of "the culture"! Elsewhere in the world this is regarded as unacceptable!!😡 Sorry Madam Tigress. "Das Nigeria for you!!"
Yes, thank god for Williams. Willaims is a credit to all *civilized* Nigerians. But while we accept that Lagos, like every other major city in the world, has anti-social issues which must be addressed, let's try not to make it seem as if Lagos is a war zone or a no go area. We all know nothing could be further from the truth. Yes area boys are a nuisance but certainly nothing comparable to the real issue out there. Let's not keep talking about Lagos while deliberately and conveniently ignoring the real war zone, the real anarchy in Nigeria today. That's the tragic, and horrific general breakdown of law and order prevailing in the east in that little corner of Nigeria they called *Ibo* land aka Biafra. For perspective, area boys are a mere nuisance, they are not ruling Lagos or any part of the South West of Nigeria. Unlike the IPOB's reign of terror in *Ibo land in the South East* where IPOB terror gangs are fully in charge where they tell people when to go out, when to go home, where to go, what to do, what to eat, what to drink, and how to live. They kidnap people, kill, maim, steal, burn down university buildings, attack police stations, shoot at soldiers, mutilate dead bodies, and are known to snack on the remains of their dead victims. Yup, you read that correctly, they indulged in that vile *C* thing. Now that's the real issue all well-intentioned Nigerians or non Nigerians should be more concerned about. Peace.
"Lagos finally has a train". Dear lord, what about Kenya? When? I mean a real functioning metro for Kenya and not something like the museum piece which operates albeit rather in fits and starts in Nairobi today.
@@Open_DoorMedia Nairobi is proposing a BRT in 2024? Well Lagos implemented BRT in *2008* and it has been expanding it since. And in 2024, Lagos has gone far *integrating BRT with water and rail transport and building modern transport interchanges to connect all the three transport systems* seamlessly. Lagos is building modern boat/ferry terminals just as it's doing with rail and bus stations even as it continues building and expanding its metro rail lines.

It's currently free now till next year. All the way from the airport to stadium to CBD to even Kubwa(suburb).
The Abuja metro rail especially from the Airport to the city centre metro station behind World trade centre, it saves the cost of riding an Uber to town. Although they have few trips for now until December when free trips end and full commercial operations begin. So it depends on what time of day one arrives at the Airport.
@@AFRICANTIGRESSi did it means you are not looking at your comments every video you posted in Abuja i kept on saying that you should try the Abuja metro 🚇
Miss African Tigress:Thanks you so much for this new remarkable video today’s from Lagos, Nigeria to shows these amazing places on the streets in West Africa 2024❤❤❤
The Zenith Bank Headquarters is on this Street, called Ajose Adeogun. That was the reason they have many banking hall around the headquarters in order their operations.

African Tigress:Welcome to Lagos, Nigeria this week in great joy & peace to tours many amazing places on the streets October of 2024❤❤❤
I love the song, watch from Abuja Nigeria ❤❤
You should have alighted at TBS, worked to NITel Towers, you would hv a shorter distance to walk.
AT try to visit the national Theatre is a place you need to visit and make a video, a lot of renovation work there is impressive. National, is where the 2nd all African arts and Culture activities were held in 1979.
Your RUclips career still isn't growing even after employing all the little tricks and dark arts imaginable. We understand your frustration, yibo boy. Keep on with that devious energy, little Afam, your 'channel' remain stuck.
AfamOrji, are u a RUclipsr or a politician? Cos u are making political statement that agberos in Lagos have some form of GOVT support! The agberos in Onitsha are even worse!
What about agberos in onitsha?
Why always talking about other people region and not your own region man? Before u remove log on people's eyes first remove yours. Ur hates and criticism can't change the facts that Lagos is Yoruba land everybody get their own land, meanwhile some ran away from their region and its become a ghost town
WOW , Charley the terminal looking more beautiful than Ghana airport terminal 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why are you people like this? 😂😂😂😂
Vawulence 😄
Anytime you are in Nigeria you get more views on your videos. Nigeria is so popular and our people are friendly. Don't mind the agberos that harass people. Stay safe sister
African Tigress there are seven lines planned. The Blue Line is not fully completed should go further to Okokomaiko. The Line running to Agbado is at test run stage. I can't remember whether from the Blue Line, or Red Line, there is a Spur planned to transit to the Murtala Muhammad International Airport. You asked if there is any line planned extending to Victoria Island? Yes. Up to the Lagos Free Trade Zone. There is a Green Line planned. Can't remember where that will be headed. When next you are in Lagos maybe try out the inter city Nigerian Railway Corporation train to Ibadan City. Also now you are in Abuja from your other vlog I watched please try the Abuja Metro that takes you all the way to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja
UNFORTUNATELY YOU LL RUN ACROSS FOOLS LIKE YOU DID IN DIFFERENT PLACES.LET THE POLICE KNOW ABOUT IT. THEY'LL EVENTUALLY STOP THEM.NICE VLOG THO.I ENJOYED WATCHING IT.Hi from the Gulf coast of Mississippi
Travel safely wherever you go.pray all goes well with you.
The Police will not stop it. They are even friendly with them.
Our Africa tigress, thanks for the insight, about lagos you are amazing. Please keep in touch with William he is a true gentleman with a good heart. For the area boys they need to be put where they belong if the city, wants to maintain a very good reputation fo tourism in lagos.
There’s one in Abuja too
Good job sister I like to watch your veidio thanks from saudi Arabia.
If things like that happen, please report to the police and share the video with them as evidence
was there no bus to take you direct to the marina station from Victoria Island? That was some walk.
@@garyjohn1822 Yeah, many of them junkies all 😅over big cities in England I.e London, Birmingham and Manchester,Piccadily especially 👌
It's very interesting to watch.
I have not been to Nigeria in a little over 21 years.
But I think the train station was built without having the physically challenged and wheelchair users in mind.
Thanks for bringing this Tigress.
That is not true. They have elevator entry way for the ederly and physically challenged in all the stations.
You're complaining and more worried about the area boys than actually being grateful for the REAL NIgerian angel you met in the form of Williams. I mean look at his eyes, soft spokeness and patience with your pompous self. People like Williams still give me hope in my people even though I'm now considered a diasporan
Area boys are a real menace and should be complained about. They even harass the poor and bring a lot of embarrassment to all Nigerians.
A. T has never been pompous dear.
You spoke well until you became very rude!
What is the pomposity in complaining about a bad experience?
It is good to talk about the area boys.may govt will do something about them.
You can point out that alot of good Nigerians like William exist without you insulting her for complaining about her experience. Maybe if tourists complain more, the government would actually listen to them cos they sure aren't listening to the citizens.
Even in Kenya over here is very worst
It looks good there from what I'm seeing now African Tig
I love the new changes no more traffic
Ghana really needs this.. the commute from the Volta to region to Acrra, Kumasi & other Regions... extended to other parts of the Continent, South East West North.. open boarders..😊
What a journey
The guy with you isn’t street wise.. He shouldn’t have even try talking or negotiating with them with them.. If you streetwise they know you will fight back
I'm impressed
Nice video ❤
When you have chance please show us the most beautiful side of Lagos because i never seeing it.
Check my Nigeria playlist
How is Alexandra Gomora and Khayelitsha and those many, many other non-beautiful places in SA where people like you are condemned to stay? Yes I'm talking about your townships far away from those 'most beautiful side' reserved for the real owners of SA which you outsiders are barred from but love to show to the world. Nkosi, enjoy your vicarious pride in the great massa's inheritance and possession as you go around Mr. Van Helmut's SA today with your jumble sale camera. Take care, Nkosi.
I must commend you for, your love for Nigerians we love you too , but i observed you're subsequently promoting your cultures and musics as well based on my observations on your videos and thats quite lovely and smart of you i wish other content creators in africa could do the same instead of fighting each other, im a nigerian an i can tell you lagos is over hyped because its the first city in nigeria, there are more beautiful cites to visit , such as portharcut, enugu, calabar, akwa ibom, and lots more
Must u condem Lagos to promote your region? Ur hates, sadness won't change that facts lagos is Yoruba land
Hmnn! Over hyped??I smell hates and jealousy 👌20million people in Lagos for a reason, economy of Lagos is bigger than many African countries for a reason too,Indigenes of port/H dat hav talents have to move to Lagos to be successful for a reason as well🤷♀️even though the cities u mentioned are also beautiful as well, but not in same class with Lagos 👌

Hello 👋 mem how are you, your video is nice 👍
If I may ask: how much did you finally give the area boys?
Good thing Williams was there to ease the tension. Intimidation is part of "the culture"! Elsewhere in the world this is regarded as unacceptable!!😡
Sorry Madam Tigress.
Peace.
Multi-storey car parks would save a lot of space, that could be used for something more productive.
If this happened in Yaba it means they were the same boys that were disciplined by soldiers today, 5days after this video.
Do you plan to visit other states in the South South, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom
Most of these states no fine jare only uyo n maybe cross rivers but issues dey there

"Lagos finally has a train". Dear lord, what about Kenya? When? I mean a real functioning metro for Kenya and not something like the museum piece which operates albeit rather in fits and starts in Nairobi today.
Lagos has 3 trains. 2 intra city. One inter city. One cargo.
@@alexbanj7a7bc Nairobi is proposing a brt system.
That is Lagos, a crazy city. Very sorry our queen. I myself as a Nigerian was harassed in Ikeja.
The should have built eko altantic easy, bought shares in abroad companies
the redline is active now
Welcome to Nigeria 🇳🇬
come to my city uyo akwa ibom is the finest city in Nigeria you will enjoy it here
They should build an underground metro, the population is too large for current infrastructure
Lagos can't build an underground metro because of the water level
Is this pen station or Grand central station in Manhattan NY?
