Walmart has massive potential over the next decade. Especially with some of the new partnerships Walmart has been making. The new drone program Walmart is coming out with will really make it a fierce competition.

I love my Prime, hard to find items, prime video has excellent programming, books, ebooks, so many things that make me happy, the ability to “oh, my favorite author’s new book comes out today, but I can’t drive to a bookstore to buy it.” I can go to Amazon Prime, and start reading in 2 days. Walmart, I go to the grocery section, pick out what I want, tell them if I want them substitute if my exact product isn’t available. It used to be $30, now it’s $35 minimum per order. Canceled my PRIME membership a couple weeks ago, but I won’t be paying for a Walmart membership either, but tthanks for the video, it was informative.
Reason for canceling PRIME: I first joined PRIME years ago when they offered free 2-day shipping, but in the last 2 - 3 years I started noticing a couple things.
-First, the free 2-day shipping started taking longer and longer. Sometimes it would take two weeks for “in-stock” items to show up.
Second, if you are shopping, and don’t click the “PRIME” button you will notice that many, not just a few, but many items have two prices. A regular price and a PRIME price, which is always more expensive, sometimes by several dollars. So, I realized I am paying extra for that “PRIME” item, obviously for the shipping, which rarely comes in two days anymore. So, if I happen to spend the minimum, then often the non-PRIME priced item is shipped free anyhow, albeit, not in two days.
-None of the other PRIME benefits had any value to me. I tried PRIME video but found that most of the content I was interested in I could find for free on other apps, likely with commercials. Kind of like broadcast TV.
-Finally, although this is not Amazon’s fault, my state forces Amazon to tax me on this service. It is a service, not a final product.
Walmart..I go there when I need to. I don’t stand in the scan it yourself line, since I am paying full price for the item, I don’t work for them. And I would never load their app on my phone, or any stores app for that matter.

I’m a former Amazon Prime member and now a convert to Walmart because of the savings on groceries and everyday items . Another reason for my switch is the savings on gas ($6/galllon in CA) and wear/tear on my car for weekly groceries. Sometimes Walmart delivers twice a week for my family of five. I do wait for Amazon purchases to gather for free shipping which isn’t that hard to do, sometimes the orders match Prime deliveries but if not it comes in a week later so you need to plan for things like paint stencils and other specialized merchandise. I do miss some of the shows on Prime but with Netflix and Disney+ these monthly expenses add up.

Walmart has been trying to sell us their plus service for some time, but just doesn't make sense for us when I can simply order and pick up.
The items that aren't available when I pick up, at this time, I simply protect myself with mask and sanitary kit and go in to local stores (like Aldi) to get items we need without any further hassle and to grab great deals you clued us in on.
I greatly appreciate your help in getting the best deals. We have all been struggling through the last few years. My mother is retired, father and step mother lost their business (35 year old car repair shop), and all three parents have gone through multiple major surgeries in the last year and a half.
I have also passed along tips to my step children as they struggle to provide for their families and our grandchildren.
Your tips have been so helpful to us all. Can't thank you enough. 🤗

I've had a Prime membership for a few years, now, and it's mainly for the streaming. We're rural and cable choices are limited. (We actually have Prime and Netflix.) We also shop at Walmart monthly for all sorts of things, saving significantly on nearly everything we purchase there. Our Walmart, however, is just a Walmart, not a SuperWalmart. We don't have a gas pump, the grocery selection is very, VERY, limited and while we do save on the things we purchase there, we still have to go to Aldi (which for us is on the way to Walmart, conveniently, and even one of the large chain stores now and then for stuff we just can't find at either Walmart or Aldi. Having Prime means that if I need, say, a pad of specialty paper (I'm a paper crafter/book maker) and I can only find it on Amazon, I can order just that $12 package of paper and get free shipping and it's delivered in just a couple of days. It spoils me for shopping at online stores that don't offer free shipping! I hate to pay for shipping. :)

I like the Alexa reminding me to reorder items that I purchase on regular basis. It will monitor how often I buy things and suggest me to add the item on my checkout cart . If I say "yes" it will add it for me. Very convenient for ordering dog foods. I guess it is trade off between making life little easier or your habits being monitored online. Don't think we have much choice in future if not already happening. Like work place monitoring your computer usage or social media companies monitoring your activity.

I’ve been with Amazon for 16 years. Every year the service has gotten worse (delivery times are worse, packages arrive damaged, the people who deliver don’t even try to get the stuff on the porch, and customer service is worse), especially in the last 2-3 years. My membership will be expiring in November and I do not plan to renew. With that being said, I don’t plan to give any of my hard earned money to Walmart either. Guess it’s time to save some money and not buy as much, so I thank them for being crappy services because in the end, it’s helping me have a better retirement. 😁

Since there is also a $35 minimum for regular curbside pickup, their stock tends to be limited and they don't sell gas near me, it isn't practical to also pay for a membership. Amazon shipping, video, reading and photos for the win!

I know it's cool to hate on walmart, but I actually like shopping there. It's very convenient to be able to get almost everything you need in one stop. The checkout experience can be a bit frustrating, but I think it's grossly over-exaggerated and the only time I have to wait more than 5 minutes to checkout is during peak shopping times when the store is the busiest. I love sams club. Even though I don't have a big family, and dont need everything in bulk. I still find it worthwhile to be a member because they have very good quality meat, I do buy some things in bulk that either don't expire or have a long shelf life like toilet paper, laundry detergent, cleaning products, trash bags, paper plates, etc. And their prices on tv's, furniture, and many other household items are outstanding and the quality is amazing. And sometimes they have big name brand clothing and apparel at rock bottom prices. I've heard costco is better, but unfortunately it wouldn't be worth it for me to join since the nearest one is a 45 minute drive from me. So I would rarely ever go if I joined there. I went with sams club because its like a 7 minute drive from my house. I will definitely look into this walmart membership though.

I've been an Amazon Prime member since 2007 and Walmart is the closest grocery store to my house. I have an Amazon rewards card so I'll give you the brief: Amazon card gas purchases are 2% cash back and Amazon online purchases and Whole Foods purchases are 5% cash back. Whole Foods is pretty far from my house. Till Covid, I shopped at a locally owned grocer but I've been shopping online at Walmart and picking up my orders. They haven't made any mistakes yet, and I don't have any complaints. Also, If you pay for a year membership in advance at Amazon, it's $119. If you pay for a year membership at Walmart (not monthly), it's $98. Anyway, I have lots of comments on how Amazon Prime has changed over the years, but I'm trying to make this 500 words or less. LUL! In practice, most of my Amazon Prime orders are showing up in 1 day.

  • @madamhummingbird

To be honest, I just cancelled my Amazon Prime membership tonight. Reason being, the only perk I used from my Amazon Prime subscription is the 2-day shipping when I couldn't find something locally. Also, during the Covid crisis, all of my Amazon Prime orders were a mess. Customer service was useless resolving issues as well. I can live without the Prime membership. As for Walmart, I have at least 6 Super Walmart's within a 2-15 mile radius from my house. My husband & I love our local Walmart's & we shop with them all the time. The order online grocery pickup or delivery is our favorite perk. It saved us a lot of hassles during Covid lockdown. Will we give Walmart Plus a go? Absolutely! I'm signing up for a month tonight. We'll see how it goes.

I used the new Scan and Go at Walmart a few days ago. NOT the same as Sam's Club. It's a wonderfully easy experience at Sam's. But when you use S&G at Walmart, you still have to go to the Self Checkout registers, wait in line for an open register, scan the QR code that is on the register screen, wait for an attendant to come over and check id (for alcohol), show them your e-receipt on your phone, they verify your cart, a little barcode appears on your phone, then you can proceed to the exit. Not as easy as the Sam's Club just S&G and show your phone on the way out.
I do enjoy the free deliver/pick-up of Walmart Grocery. I just wish I could get a quicker deliver/pick-up day/time. Amazon PrimeNow never has what I need and if they do it's way over priced.
With that being said; 90% of my online purchases are via Amazon. So it's a give and take. Will probably have to keep both memberships.

I just wanted to clarify the following since I work for Walmart..
    1. The $98 price is for 1 full year
    2. We offer a 15-day free trial so people can try before they go through with their payment plan of either $12.95/month or $98/year
    3. We can double the 15-day free trial to a full month (30-days) if the customer answers 3 questions after starting the free trial
    4. Having the experience of using Walmart+, it saves me plenty of time because I can just scan the QR code at a self-checkout register & be on my way.
