I can relate a lot to the story of Ahriman and Zahak, my own doctor also prescribed human brains for my shoulder snake problem. It did get better though, so perhaps Zahak should have stuck with it.

I have heard interpretations that say it is not clear who the snake is, it could very well be just a snake. The link came later. It sounds very well fitting with the Zoroastrian story though.
It's sometimes easy to see the origins of portions of the Genesis story. But other times it's a mix of influences, in my opinion. The scholarly consensus changes over time to, based on re-interpretations as our translations get better, or more works are discovered. It has been decades since I looked into any of this (beyond this and a few other channels), and even then the sources I was reading were old. I'm going to trust Cinzia over my very amateur ideas formulated decades ago. I trust the research that goes into these videos pretty strongly. But also, you're right to question original ideas versus the interpretations given to these stories later in history. That is very much the story of Satan in a nutshell. He shifts due to the population's ideas, not so much the source material.

In Job, he is talking to the "Prince and Chief of Satans" Samael, the "true devil" who DOES serve God and who Christian mythology likes to ignore because it deprives them of their great enemy to blame everything on: for if the devil serves God, then who's to blame for all the bad things in the world . . .
This is going to be really hard to explain, but I think it needs to be said. This presentation form is stronger and more striking than the other straight-on orientation of the camera in some of your other videos. At first glance, I thought it was the lack of makeup, but as I watch, I realize that it’s the camera angle. The off-center angle gives you a much more commanding presence, like watching a lecturer in a hall. The down side of it is that your normally reasonably attractive face moves into something that could best be called drop dead gorgeous at this angle. That could be detrimental if you’re trying to prevent being judged by your appearance. That commanding presence that the angle brings also brings a flirty air to the presentation, as your eyes are as often elsewhere as they are directed at the viewer. I would like to see what your newer videos look like if the script isn’t directly in line with the camera in your field of vision. This one was because of the positioning of the microphone, but now that you have body microphones, would it still be possible to strike that commanding posture by placing the script 6” or so to the left of the camera? Or would the lack of the microphone ruin that effect, do you think? This has a stronger presence on camera than the vast majority of your videos that I’ve seen. I just wonder if removing the “stage business” of speaking directly into the microphone would ruin it or make it more pronounced. I had a minor field of study in theatre, in case it wasn’t obvious from my comment.

I think it's something of a mistake to see similarities between stories and infer one was a rewrite of the other simply because we hear one first and the other later. Consider in the Americas where bloodclot boy was formed by rabbit kicking the motive power into him or the conflict between eagle and the horned serpent. Does this imply that Native American myths had their origin in myths an ocean and a continent away? Where a God represented as an eagle carrying the nations on his back is in conflict against an ancient serpent? No. If we read the Symposium for instance we can get a well articulated glimpse into the kind of fuzzy dream logic of ancient mankind, a kind of logic in which philosophical observations about the world emerge from intuited metaphorical understandings of the forces that shape our lives. Think about it this way, you're an ancient human being without the benefits of large scale civilization. You know that when humans have sex they produce vulnerable children who must then be protected and provided for and on the one hand this gives you some greater purpose beyond your own survival but on the other hand your life has just become SO much more difficult and complicated. How do you grapple with these complex feelings except by dreamlike analogy? It's LIKE there was this delicious looking juicy fruit that your female companion wanted and you wanted even though you knew it would bring much suffering, and now that you've both eaten this delicious fruit you now have to work your butt off and your wife has to go through the pain of childbirth. You don't need someone else to come tell you that story, you can pretty much figure that out on your own. Yeah, maybe you hear something similar from a buddy and it strikes a chord with you and makes you reflect on what the experience is like for you, but it's not really a story that belongs to him or you per se. It's a common experience that everyone is trying to put into words so they can express their feelings about life. I think framing those kinds of cross-cultural inspirations as one stealing the story from another is unfair to the people who'd been mulling that stuff over for more or less the same length of time and didn't think to preserve their insights for historians thousands of years later. It frames them as unoriginal and uninspired when it's more likely they just didn't even know it was a contest where the last one to write it on a piece of clay and put it in a good hiding spot would be declared history's only creative and original person.
This was an amazing story!!! I also love the folkloric devil. Because the name “devil,” can be attributed to many ancient, primordial spirits. The folkloric, witches devil is a nod back to animistic early cultures. Early cave drawings with a half man/half horned creature. This devil is a devil of the wild, free places. He is teacher, guide and natural power. He is of the Liminal world; light/dark, life/death, order/chaos. I loved your Pan video, drawing on the connections of these horned deities/spirits and the image of the devil. I’d love to see a video about witches and the folkloric devil of the craft. A devil removed from the Judao/Christian lens and seen through those saw him a friend, teacher, old one, nurturer and liberator. That commanding presence that the angle brings also brings a flirty air to the presentation, as your eyes are as often elsewhere as they are directed at the viewer.
I would like to see what your newer videos look like if the script isn’t directly in line with the camera in your field of vision. This one was because of the positioning of the microphone, but now that you have body microphones, would it still be possible to strike that commanding posture by placing the script 6” or so to the left of the camera? Or would the lack of the microphone ruin that effect, do you think?
This has a stronger presence on camera than the vast majority of your videos that I’ve seen. I just wonder if removing the “stage business” of speaking directly into the microphone would ruin it or make it more pronounced.

I think it's something of a mistake to see similarities between stories and infer one was a rewrite of the other simply because we hear one first and the other later. Consider in the Americas where bloodclot boy was formed by rabbit kicking the motive power into him or the conflict between eagle and the horned serpent. Does this imply that Native American myths had their origin in myths an ocean and a continent away? Where a God represented as an eagle carrying the nations on his back is in conflict against an ancient serpent?
No. If we read the Symposium for instance we can get a well articulated glimpse into the kind of fuzzy dream logic of ancient mankind, a kind of logic in which philosophical observations about the world emerge from intuited metaphorical understandings of the forces that shape our lives.
Think about it this way, you're an ancient human being without the benefits of large scale civilization. You know that when humans have sex they produce vulnerable children who must then be protected and provided for and on the one hand this gives you some greater purpose beyond your own survival but on the other hand your life has just become SO much more difficult and complicated. How do you grapple with these complex feelings except by dreamlike analogy? It's LIKE there was this delicious looking juicy fruit that your female companion wanted and you wanted even though you knew it would bring much suffering, and now that you've both eaten this delicious fruit you now have to work your butt off and your wife has to go through the pain of childbirth.
You don't need someone else to come tell you that story, you can pretty much figure that out on your own. Yeah, maybe you hear something similar from a buddy and it strikes a chord with you and makes you reflect on what the experience is like for you, but it's not really a story that belongs to him or you per se. It's a common experience that everyone is trying to put into words so they can express their feelings about life. I think framing those kinds of cross-cultural inspirations as one stealing the story from another is unfair to the people who'd been mulling that stuff over for more or less the same length of time and didn't think to preserve their insights for historians thousands of years later. It frames them as unoriginal and uninspired when it's more likely they just didn't even know it was a contest where the last one to write it on a piece of clay and put it in a good hiding spot would be declared history's only creative and original person.

This was an amazing story!!! I also love the folkloric devil. Because the name “devil,” can be attributed to many ancient, primordial spirits. The folkloric, witches devil is a nod back to animistic early cultures. Early cave drawings with a half man/half horned creature. This devil is a devil of the wild, free places. He is teacher, guide and natural power. He is of the Liminal world; light/dark, life/death, order/chaos. I loved your Pan video, drawing on the connections of these horned deities/spirits and the image of the devil. I’d love to see a video about witches and the folkloric devil of the craft. A devil removed from the Judao/Christian lens and seen through those saw him a friend, teacher, old one, nurturer and liberator. And how the name devil holds power, freedom and strength to those who utter his name. Thank you again for all your spectacular videos. ❤😊
