      It’s an easy location to fish. I prefer launching at Six Mile Landing but that launch is now closed until February 11 so I’ll probably be fishing the southern end of the lake and even in the River occasionally when the tides are right.

    Nice work Ozzie and good vid. I blind cast a lot just trying to think like a red or trout but working the grass line pays the most. I’ve caught two bull reds that way

    Just got back from Faver. It was nice to meet even though briefly. Do you do charters or guided tours? Great video.

      Hi Grady. Nice to meet you as well. I am not a pro and do not guide. I just fish for fun.

      How about a fish with a new friend who wants to learn how to kayak fish. I can share stories on how new medical tests get to market and you can share best practices on catching great fish.

    Nice fishing! What brand of rods are you using?

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  Год назад

      My main rods are a pair of Bull Bay Stealth Snipers and a pair of Toadfish. All 4 rods are medium power with fast action and around 7ft long.

    A quick question for you. Do you think a fish finder is worthwhile for fishing in the local waters here? I was thinking of the Garmin Striker Vivid 4cv Fishfinder with GT20 Transducer.

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  6 месяцев назад

      I use a basic fish finder to see depth, bottom contour and surface temperature. I will also see smaller bait fish but since I am usually in very shallow water I wont see big fish. The Garmin 4cv should be fine but you will probably need to purchase a seperate mount to attach it to your gear tracks and a battery (I recommend a Noccqua pro power 10amp battery kit). I use a 5 inch finder just to have a larger screen that I can see easier. You may want to consult with the kayak guys at Hagan Coastal Outfitters in Mandarin as to how best to rig the Garmin on your kayak. If you dont want to drill holes in your kayak you can use a side arm mount like the YakAttak Switchblade.

    Are you entering the 2022 Redfish tournament? July 16 at Sister Creek

    • @FishingwiththeOz

      I fish for pleasure so I have no plans to fish the tournament at this time. Jacksonville is stacked with great fisherman so it should be a very competitive tournament. Tight lines!

    nice catches!! that lake is tough fishing. vast open area with few abrupt changes in depth and no structure. shorelines are a safe bet

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  Год назад +1

      It can be tough but fish it enough and you will catch some good ones.

    • @FishingwiththeOz

      I have caught several trout in the 20 to 24 inch range. My best is a 25 incher I caught there last year. I lost one last year that I think was bigger. ruclips.net/video/PSe15cLj5HU/видео.html

    Great video. Quick question if you don’t mind. Did you launched from Six Mile Landing boat ramp or from South by the Guana dam? I feel there is more structure by the Six mile ramp but the water had less salinity. Which one you think gives the better odds of catching fish? Thanks

    • @FishingwiththeOz
      @FishingwiththeOz  2 года назад

      In the video, 2 reds were caught from launching at the dam and 2 from six mile. I prefer six mile as there is more structure and it is more interesting but fish can be found off both ramps.

    • @facdafra8485
      @facdafra8485 2 года назад +1

      Great info. I agree. Six mile might be better and more fun with all the structures. Thanks
