I was the location scout and loc. manager for this movie. Eggers is right it was tough, but also fun. 34 years in the business, may be the most gratifying project I have ever done. Also played one of the wickies leaving the island in the first act.
Reminds me of RP’s reaction to rehearsal for this film. At Cannes he said he’s not into rehearsal, that they spent 3 weeks rehearsing, and said it to the audience. The director, Robert Eggers, corrected him that it was only one week. RP is like, “No way!” with Willem chiming in that it was only one week. Eggers said, “It was 3 weeks for you.” and all three were laughing, but RP had a level of incredulousness in his laughter. It was indeed amusing.

Robert Pattinson has come a long way from just being "that pale guy from Harry Potter and Twilight". If someone had told me about 7-8 years ago that Pattinson would one day play Batman, I would've said they were crazy. When I heard that he cast as Batman, I was actually very excited and interested to see what he will bring to the role.
Robert Pattinson seems like he’s now doing exactly what he always wanted to do. Great! A far cry from his miserable Twilight days. The cinematography in The Lighthouse is unbelievably stunning. It captivated me right away! I can’t wait for October 18th!

That's the thing, it very well might be one film. Not a sequel trilogy or franchise. Hopefully this is the last time so that more and more portrayals can be seen playing the Joker. Franchises and sequels restrict that ability to have different versions with different actors.

Being able to get brilliant actors like, Willem Dafoe, in your films must be a real treat. As an aspiring film maker, I highly respect actors like Dafoe because I know that they're going to give all of their characters the best of their abilities. And I have to admit, that before this film, I did not see Robert Pattinson as an actor with a real future outside of goofy vampire movies. But, his performance in "The Lighthouse" was fantastic. I have a new found respect for Pattinson, and I hope to see him succeed in his craft.

Willem DaFoe is a national treasure. Years ago I thought he was overly bizarre but he just loves what he does and he steals the show in every movie. Nosferatu especially.
It was a long due but I saw this movie a couple of days ago. Masterpiece. Dafoe and Pattinson did an awesome job giving life to those personas, but obviously all that was the vision of Eggers. Also, the photography is incredible. Excellent film.
Two more words: "High Life". Rob totally OWNED that movie. And yes, he said how he had chased director Claire Denis for years before finally getting to do something with her. I admit, I had to watch it 50 times to try and make sense to what I was seeing and hearing. Rob should be recognized for his talents and his ability to transform into so many different characters. From Tyler Hawkins, Salvidor Dali, Jacob Jankowski, Eric Packer, Henry Costin, Rey (The Rover), Monte (High Life), and now looking forward to his roles in The King, Waiting For The Barbarians, The Lighthouse, TENET and even The Batman. After you have seen every one of THESE movies, will you be able to truly decide for yourself if, indeed, Robert Pattinson can act. He is one of the most fiercely dedicated actors out there. Ask anyone who has worked with him. Love you, Rob!
I live here in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia where this film was shot. It was shot in April and still cold, wet and snowy inland. They were filming this at Cape Forchu about 20 minutes out of town. You just don't see the lighthouse of Cape Forchu but the lighthouse the crew built for the film. Whatever the weather is inland, it's twice as bad out at the cape. It was pretty miserable at the time they were here. A lot of us were watching what was going on via the Cape Forchu webcam every day. It was so great to have them here and I can't wait to see this film.
“What are we gonna do, shoot it in L.A.? Or on a green screen? No!” - Robert Eggers First time I’ve seen an interview with this guy. His films made me a fan, this won me over for good. On location, practical films are sorely missed in a sea of cgi laden movies.
Eggers is not very experienced but he has the vision and ideas to do what most of the other directors don't have the balls to do. He managed to create a whole world even though we see only a small rock in the middle of the sea. I hope more creators try to do their own thing because most of the films that are coming out look very similar to each other.
Great to see proper cinema still exists. People will still be watching this in 100 years time when we are all gone.....unlike 99% of the mainstream drivel from most studios. I know ye are fond of me lobster.

You just don't see the lighthouse of Cape Forchu but the lighthouse the crew built for the film. Whatever the weather is inland, it's twice as bad out at the cape. It was pretty miserable at the time they were here. A lot of us were watching what was going on via the Cape Forchu webcam every day. It was so great to have them here and I can't wait to see this film.

First time I’ve seen an interview with this guy. His films made me a fan, this won me over for good. On location, practical films are sorely missed in a sea of cgi laden movies.

Eggers is not very experienced but he has the vision and ideas to do what most of the other directors don't have the balls to do. He managed to create a whole world even though we see only a small rock in the middle of the sea. I hope more creators try to do their own thing because most of the films that are coming out look very similar to each other.

i love phoenix, he is a top actor and did an amazing work with joker.. but after i watch the lighthouse twice, i am force to say dafoe deserve the oscar this year!! no doubt about it
