My grandfather had an SX-70 back in the 70's. I bought mine in the 90's. It's been several years since I used it. Maybe I'll dig it out again. Cheers
The MiNT flash is powerful enough, you just have to understand the settings. I refer you to videos by The Instant Camera Guy (Jake) who goes in depth about this. The SX-70 is great by itself but when you have it modified for manual and automatic exposure and ability to use 160 and 640 film you have a phenomenal camera. I can vouch for the MiNT 670s modification, it is fantastic, but there are other excellent modifications from Jake (The Instant Camera Guy- Australia) and Dennis (Chromatic Parts - UK).
Great video! I have an SX-70 Sonar, converted to shoot 600 film, and the Mint Flashbar works just fine with it indoors. Worth checking out!

would like to see the polaroid i2 tested with identical shots against a regular polaroid 660/670 AF camera. Interesting to see the picture differences, if any.
in terms of sharpness they are probably equal. the biggest difference is likely that the metering of the i2 is better.
@ true , but as one is £600 and one is £30 on eBay is not really worth it ?

Taking pictures with the sx70 is a unique experience not achieved with any other camera in my opinion. Because the current Polaroid film chemistry is not as stable as used by the pre bankrupt Polaroid Co. exposure needs to be very accurate and the i2 (with the latest firmware update and full manual control of exposure settings) helps achieve this. But as long as a SX70 camera functions correctly (has been serviced/referbed by qualified technician if needed) great photos can be shot using it but one must follow Polaroids advice on using their film. If possible I would recommend any one interested in photography shoot with a SX70 at least once for the experience.
I agree the experience of the SX70 is the most fun of any instant camera ever made
I.ve already have the I2 but planning to buy a Sx70 refurbished. No way i will buy an Instax camera anytime. Ugly cameras
Stay away from those cameras. I got an intax and have been buying 2 packs of film/week 😂 It’s so addictive in bright sun because the included flash fills up the shadows so well.
I must be missing the point with this revival of Polaroid - WHY?!!!!!
Thanks for your effort at comparing those Polaroid models. Honestly though, I can’t think of a single reason anyone would use either, with the exception that they might want to instantly share a poor quality hard copy print with maybe children or an associate. And even in that case, I’d use my phone and show them or send them the photo. Again, appreciate your thorough review, but both of those cameras are from an era when any instant image was considered a miracle.
You could say the same thing about all film photography. Yet there are lots of people who love it. Everyone is different.
Instax is popular. Some people value a physical product in an age where so much is intangible.

@nrjfriestad Yes, but 80's music is still better then today's for the most part. Can't say the same for Polaroid photos.
I don't get it either.
Even if someone does really want immediate access to, as you say, a poor quality hard copy print, there are small portable printers that can provide just that, without the need to compromise on the original image.
And as for the other 'traditional' use case for Polaroid, I think one's partner would be too busy laughing at the camera ;-) 😁
