Well, after seeing this kit I would say that this Zaku 1 was probably some kind of worker/construction type mobile suit not really intended for battle. Maybe the Zeons started to use them because they had a shortage of mobile suits? I don't know...
it say in the anime it self, they said that every combat MS was still in preparation and maintenance after they lost some Zaku 2 in the first fight with FA Gundam, so they have no choice but use that worker type zaku 1,
When you brought out the Zaku II, I noticed that the Thunderbolt Zaku II's proportions actually resemble the Origin's Zaku II ver closely. Ironically, it actually more like Yasuhiko's Zaku than the official we'll be getting next year. Maybe it's a good idea to get the Thunderbolt Zaku II and do a little customization and repaint on it instead of getting the actual Origins Zaku.
I really dig this. I kind of like the colors, but I have always loved the "Construction mobile suit handed a weapon to bulk up the numbers" idea, which is why I sorta wish we got a Desperado from AGE in kit form. I like this much more than the Thunderbolt Zaku II. Interested in the Origin Guntank, by the way? pleasantly surprised that's getting a kit.
Origin's Guntank is pretty ugly imo. But if the price is right, I'll get it. Not really the first machine I'd turn into a model kit either. I dunno, maybe do the *Gundam* first. Or how about the GM(totally unbiased opinion). Guess It's because -Char- -Quattro- Casval pilots it in the trailer.
I've got one of these in the mail but seeing all the stuff it comes with made me place an order for juuuust one more, I need them extra guns for the woefully underequipped older kits I have
well late commment my dear Kakarrot Cake, uh this wasn't really used as a mass production mobile suit, rather it was the 'only one they had left' as of Daryl Piloting it as a sniper mobile suit, so I think not having a commander antenna is passable so it's TEHNICALLY an Ace mobile suit...
See you can also look at this as a zaku that was put in to maintenance work like how they were repairing ships carrying containers and clean up searching for damaged mobile suits that can be repaired or use for repairing other MS
Nice kit. Personally, I am not crazy about the color either. But kakarot, do you think that they will make more g-saviours? All gundam project and all.
Weren't the Zaku 1's originally glorified fork lifts? That would explain the kind of construction zone colors, probably not too concerned with camo if the Feds haven't shown any MSs on their part.
That was the original cover up. Zeon wasn't trying to develop giant humanoid war-machines, they were trying to develop giant humanoid "working mechs". Looks like the Federation's top brass didn't need much convincing though, they didn't care about MS either way until the battle of Loum lol.
Why does thunderbolt zeon have an obsession with thrusters? I don't mind it but you have the psycho zaku rocking tons of thrusters on the suit and even more on the boosters. It seems a bit overkill to me.
Where they're fighting, bog-standard mobile suit propulsion systems and AMBAC working in tandem just isn't gonna cut it. The extra thrusters grant them way better attitude control.
Ahh the infamous Zaku I kit, a realy cool colour scheme with this one, although infamous because..well, the new Bazooka? thats a gas grenade launcher, used to murder entire colonies and 'prepare them' for Colony drops. Will still pick this kit up one day though, it looks amazing in them 'danger' colours, sums up its purpose well too.
asuming u wanted 2, can u mont the zaku 1 arms on the zaku 1 thunderbolt, same with the legs? and then fit the thunderbolt hands? this way u could paint it to match or are they not compatible?
The hands are interchangeable but the legs are not. The arms of the TB will fit on the normal Zaku I but not the other way around(The TB uses an extra connector) without cutting/modifying (it looks like it should be relatively easy to do though)
No, for me zaku ll with no big weapon set still win, the proportion is work for me, is the mesh on the joint i dint quite enjoy, if ihad the chans to buy it i will go for zaku l sniper or zaku ll tb.

From 2022 this kit actually still looks awesome. No idea if they have revised any thunderbolt kits yet but they should
still no new revived thunderbolt kits sadly , if you want quality Thunderbolt sets its still best to go with the MG kits

I noticed it too about the stickers, it is also way better than the sticker from MG Strike Freedom (metallic coat). I like Zaku I's sticker sheet.

As a KSP player, more boosters and more thrusters more better
In thunderbolt it seems that there are a lot of astroid belts in the area of space they are fighting in so more boosters means more control

It looks great, but if it was trying to camouflage in the desert, I'm pretty sure it'd stand out with that orange.
