I, too, had avoided this kit, thinking it must be a clusterfuck.
I'm glad to find out that it's well designed and crafted with loving care, not just a piece of "You guys like weapons? Well, we'll unleash this whole heap of weapons on you. It's just plastic anyways" kind of clusterfuckery.
I hope to be getting this kit eventually, after I've cleared out my sizable backlog of kits.
Eh, I hoped it would be cheaper and clusterfuckier so I can redistribute weapons among my other models. They are a bit short in rifles.

The flaps on the legs aren't extra thrust, they're actually extra drag, it gives the mobile suit more surface area so it slows down faster.
Imagine them like the flaps on Halo ODST pods.

In space there is no atmosphere. There is still molecules but they are so far apart the resistance they offer towards objects and space craft can not even be calculated. For this reason if a two space craft share the same mass and thrust they’re characteristics will be identical no matter their shape. So yes there is no drag in space.
I wanted to build a Zaku for a while now but had some trouble choosing the right kit.
Your review has definitely convinced me to go for the Psycho Zaku.
The suit itself looks amazing and the accessories.... well, you already said it all.
This is one really good Zaku kit.
Psycho Zaku? More like Overkill Zaku. EVA 02 colors are very fitting for this beast.
These designs are a nice step away from traditional Gundam and a great way to get people who have never seen Gundam a taste of the original style while keeping it different enough
Now that's a Zaku! I am very tempted to buy this, but I already bought and built a bunch of different Zakus lately, not sure if I want to get another.

Does anyone know if I can put the thrusters from the hgbc amazing booster on the shoulder of this kit, replacing the should armor? I just thought that it would be nice to add even more thrusters to go with the missile pod shield.
I like the gray stickers on the version you have. I’m building the other version right now. The tanks and backpack on mine have dark brown stickers you can barely differentiate the colors.
Kakarot: the knee joints they give you are actually noticeably longer than the ones from the TB Zaku II. Have you tried putting those spare knees the Psycho came with on the normal Zaku to see if it fixes the leg proportions?
Now that Bandai made the High Mobility Zaku II in RG form there might be a chance to have an RG Psycho Zaku.
Finally a comment wanting an rg version of this MS!!!! We need more traction for this, give the thunderbolt mobile suits the rg treatment, with the ver.ka already available as basis for the design and rg tech being unbelievably good recently, THIS HAS TO HAPPEN

I justified putting a commander's antennae on a green Zaku by making him a commander of a sniping unit. Can't have my snipers sporting bright colors so it makes sense. If I were an ace in the OYW I would want the most plain looking MS possible and have the element of surprise on my side.
I think I understand why the proportiuons of the regular zaku are so off. I suspect it's the extended skirts plus the unmodified calves. They remind me of the zaku kai from the war in the pocket ova. Always thought the proportions were off when I was watching it.
I think the other issue is that the shin armor is a lot lower than on regular Zakus.
Glad to see I wasn't the only one having trouble with the hands. Has the balance while on the base given you any problems yet?
Nope, but I did arch it forwards a bit to make sure that it was well balanced.
***** Huh, mine kept flopping over to one side or the other pretty much no matter how I positioned it, as though one of the joints was too loose. I used an extra arm stand from the Doven Wolf and hooked it to the lower fuel tank with a piece of clear tape. Works alright but still slides a bit if you bump it.
it's also sad that the sub arms aren't articulated

+BaNaNa_ MaN_808 Well...I personally hate the way that Super Custom looks, so I'd say go for the Psycho. Can't argue with those weapons and the stand.

Amaro's only saving grace is that his suit is nearly indestructible and that's only really true in the original MSG because protagonist powers. I love him but if he was written like the characters in Thunderbolt he'd be a whole lot worse as a pilot.
I think the Ver Ka comes with Beam Bazookas. Shame this doesn't have that

When I first heard that there was gonna be an HG Psycho Zaku, I thought it would be that thing that looks like a Zaku+Zeong. This is still cool though.
Meraknight oh the ms 06 z they as far as I know only made a kit of that in the old msv model kit line you had to glue those together I know I have 2 a ms06r Jonny ridden and the mso6z

The extra arms on his backpack. That, or he doesn't grab them at all, other zakus in the army do.
I don't see the proportion problem with the legs on the normal TB Zaku II..the whole Zaku II design is different.
Pretty busy of a design, but once you get it on the base, it all kind of works that much better.
I take it this doesn't come with that huge beam bazooka that comes with the MG...thats a shame, that thing is amazing

Can believe how the Anime ver. fucked up a lot of stickers to color the backpack (gray details, the motherfucking red sensors/vents on it) with an almost unnoticeable dark brown.
Only turn off is some of the stickers, guess more excuses to practice hand painting (but that white section on the shoulder is gonna be a major pain)

I personally think the skirt armor on the normal HGTB Zaku II is too big and the lower legs seem too thin.
